I'd be hard pressed right now to do a rankings of who I would prefer. Clearly, any Dem candidate will be my choice in the general, period, end of story, but before platforms come out/debates take off, I just am unsure but anxious to hear more. I love Beto's personality and want to see him adapt his platform to popular progressive policies that Americans vote in favor of time and again. I love Pete's angle a ton, trying to get my girlfriend to listen to some of his appearances ("I only have time for one white motherfucker"). Warren and Bernie have been doing it the right way for ages, entrenched in their policy positions that have moved the dialogue and party platform back to the left. I need more from Harris, Booker, Biden. Klobuchar and Inslee and Hickenlooper and whoever else aren't on my radar yet.
Cory Booker (D) Pete Buttigieg (D) Julian Castro (D) John Delaney (D) Tulsi Gabbard (D) Kirsten Gillibrand (D) Kamala Harris (D) John Hickenlooper (D) Jay Inslee (D) Amy Klobuchar (D) Wayne Messam (D) Beto O'Rourke (D) Bernie Sanders (I) Elizabeth Warren (D) Bill Weld (R) Marianne Williamson (D) Andrew Yang (D) I expect Hickenlooper, Inslee, Messam (lol), Williamson (lol), Gabbard, Delaney to fall out fast. Possibly Gillibrand and Yang. That'd get us to 8-10 if we add in Biden. That'd be more palatable.
Honestly, not so cunty on twitter. Attacks on social media against ppl and ideas not fully progressive are tiresome. I don’t disagree necessarily on policy. This is a 1st world complaint. Just being honest
I think that's fair and reasonable. Edit: What I was getting at with my point of order post is on this board there's a lot of hand wringing about purity tests when basically everyone involved will get in line come 2020. I don't think it's warranted in this context
idk, maybe try to ditch the "our way or the highway" approach. We need to push for progressive legislation while all realizing that we are much better off with a Biden than any conservative as POTUS.
Isn't that exactly what you're doing by shutting down their legitimate criticisms and not engaging them beyond purity test accusations?
A good example of it is the turn on pod save America. Two years ago, all democrats came together because of the 2016 debacle and how awful Trump was. 2.5 years later, the blue wave happened. People think they know exactly why we won so many house seats, even though I’m sure it was a variety of reasons. Now the Pod Save America ppl are center left shills and are the absolute WORST! And any mention of them blows up mentions online. Now that we are jockeying for position within the party, certain sides are demeaning other parts of the party. I just think you can have an opinion (e.g., that pod save dudes are not progressive enough and/or don’t love Bernie) without the mere mention of them being a toxic mess. Regardless, complaining about online decorum is lame. But I’ve deleted all social media that isn’t twitter. And some days even being on twitter sucks. But without it, you fall out of the news cycle. Like I said, a first world complaint
Talk up the good shit about your candidate first, shit on the others second. But yeah, I don't need shitty memes about Beto/Bernie/Mayor Pete/Warren. That shit's obnoxious.
Just want to point out that teenagestepdad is a prolific IG meme'r and it doesn't add up for he/she to be a political plant fwiw. Check out the account itself
"Well, he said he will give me a sworn statement, and I look forward to that. He's still under oath" *chef's kiss*
I agree with most of them policy-wise, my issue strictly is the purity test. It blasts toxicity into the mainstream and then the true opposition (Trump, fascists and Russia) cease on that to try to lower Dem turnout. People should pump the policies they believe in, but do their best not tear down other Dem candidates at this point.
Sure a lot of grifting, not a lot of political substance on everyone's bea's website. https://betoorourke.com/
This probably belongs in the other thread but since the rest of you are cheating so much anyway... When I look at Warren and listen to her, I sense a deep anger. That's for me.
I have liked her ever since this Michael Moore movie in like '09. She just gets it, plus shes more pissed off now.
Personally, I’m a realist and not gonna get invested someone who can’t and won’t win (which is of course based solely on my own opinions). But I’m all for the presentation of bold ideas to push the other candidates
Yep. And her vs Trump is different than Hillary v. Trump for man reasons. But the biggest key is her energy and passion behind the issues and the working class person
Warren >>>>>>>>>>> I'll vote for anyone the democrats put in the general without question. But Warren 100% has my vote in the primary and it's not close.
Same. My dream would be a Warren/Pete ticket. I like Bernie, Beto, Harris, and Booker though. The decision will be made long before I get a chance to vote, but will gladly support whoever wins nom.
The fact that rich people really don't want Sanders or Warren to get the nomination is all the endorsement I need
Warren gets my vote if Pete can't make it to the stage, but gonna go with my heart. I'm not sure a Warren/Pete ticket is the way to go, but the idea has me excited.
Oh yeah well in the primary I'm going to vote in another state for a different Democrat candidate just to offset your vote.
