Ha. There have been a couple funny ones that I check back on later and they've disappeared. I've typed a couple responses out, but ended up deleting them before I posted.
Thread on the OU rivals board saying we’re playing in Norman in 2023. If so, we aren’t fucking around with scheduling tough opponents. Any validity to this? #Oklahoma Sooners
Emerson said in a recent story that it’s pretty much a done deal. They’re just working out when the return trip to Athens will be. It might be as late as 2031.
Hey UGA fans, how’s Nakobe Dean looking? Was talking about the upcoming season with my Dad at the Camp, and we were talking about how much we wished we had gotten him
He's apparently everything the staff thought he'd be and more. Exceeding expectations. Nakobe, Nolan Smith, and Tyrique Stevenson have flashed the most of the early enrollees.
Walter Grant at RB is super weird to me. Due to my unflinching pessimism, I have a feeling he’s going to get > 50 carries this fall.
Since he’s been passed at OLB, I’m guessing he transfers out after this season really thought we had something with him after his ‘17 flashes
That's the way I'm taking it. If Kirby is willing to move a guy who started eight games last season then he must think the newcomers are really fucking good.
Id be shocked if Grant got close to 50 carries. He will be an H-Back or Fullback. Not a ball carrier.
I do think our OLBs are going to be ridiculous. I’m pretty nervous about our RB depth over the course of the season.
I think it will be better than last year Swift Herrien beefed up Cook beefed up Zamir McIntosh Last year we only had Swift, Holyfield and Herrien, and a wet behind the ears Cook
For me, its all contingent on what type of Zamir we are getting. Zamir is the one dude on the depth chart that can be a 3-down bellcow if the game calls for it. I know we are getting various degrees of hype. But until games start being played, none of it matters. If we are getting anything close to the Zamir we thought we'd have when we signed him - lawd. But if Zamir is more on the conservative side of expectations, we likely can still beat everyone on our regular season schedule given our OL superiority. Just not sure we would have the running game to make it through A&M + Tech + Bama + Semifinal + Clemson. There will be times that Swift cant get going and we are going to need a Zamir.
Hopefully you’re right, but it wouldn’t be a huge stretch for Zamir to be limited a bit and for Cook to be more of a pass catching 3rd down change of pace type. We’re losing 200 carries from last year’s team.
It is, but it feels like he can be a Holyfield type talent which I am good with having 2-3 of those on the roster. He is a huge body which I like...will be hell on teams late in games
I just want to see the Salyer at FB goal-line package. Throw in the loser of the RG battle at TE for good measure
As good as they were last year, the 18 and 19 year olds we had playing on the right side were in the early stages of a steep trajectory. Play calling was ass too
It won't matter. Our stable of backs will be plenty given the talent around them. We are absurdly deep and talented basically everywhere. Would not trade rosters - top to bottom - with anyone in CFB. And people are sleeping on Cook. He's elite. He will make a lot of money soon. To quote the great Rusty Mansell, he's a fucking dude.
Sleeping on McIntosh too. Stud. Watch and see. He's fucking huge and he catches the ball so well. Fast for his size. Guy was the Broward County POY for a reason.
It won't matter til we face one of the few teams with comparable talent in the SECC or playoffs 6.5 YPC from Mr. 4.9 Forty is evidence enough that Pittman's group will carry the running game until Zeus is cut loose in November Cook might be more of a Mecole replacement than bellcow RB. He'll be great. We'll see in what capacity
Yep. When it gets to nut cutting time, we need somebody to make an unbelievable play that a mere mortal wouldn’t make. We just haven’t gotten quite enough of those plays when we needed em the past two years, and the margins are razor thin at the very top. Maybe McIntosh turns into that guy through development in the program. I’ll be nervous until he does, though.
He's a lot more of a tailback than he is Mecole. We've just gotten used to big backs. Cook will do his damage from the RB position IMO. At least mostly. Kearis is going to surprise a lot of people. He's a stud. Cook isn't really that small. And Kirby goes out of his way to talk about how tough he is.
What I think of when people hop on the “McIntosh sucks” or “Todd Hartley is a shitty hire” bandwagon...
We haven’t had a DL drafted since 2013. Haven’t had one make the all SEC team since 2007. Yuck. Not confident we have one on the roster right now either. Davis and Clark need to step it up.
Kirby just said Clark is a difference maker when he wants to be. It’s his contract year. We need him to step the fuck up.
I think there's prob one that would be drafted on the roster now. It's pretty telling that I'm not 100% that we do though.
I hope to God you are kidding. I think he was talking about the All SEC part. If he wasn’t... for both of you. If he was... for you
I'm completely in show me mode with the DL. Some good pieces, a ton of potential, but I'm not gonna buy in until I see it.
