No. 3: 26% of current Bernie Sanders supporters said that they would rather vote for President Donald Trump over Senator Elizabeth Warren, if that were the eventual 2020 matchup. No. 2: While 100% of Buttigieg’s supporters said they would support Bernie against Trump (if that were the General Election matchup), only 79% of Bernie’s supporters said they would vote for Buttigieg over Trump in a General Election. No. 1: Only 51% of current Bernie supporters actually voted in the 2016 General Election for the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton – 7% voted for Trump, 23% voted for a third-party candidate, and 19% did not vote.

It doesn't strike you as weird that 26% of Bernie supporters would vote for Trump over Warren, when 80% of Bernie supporters are Democrats? That's what I am having trouble wrapping my head around. Even in the most minimal example that means that 6% of Bernie's supporters who are Democrats would vote for Trump over Warren.
LOL, I am not a fan. Don't get me wrong, but again the spot I get stuck on is that bernie fan or not, any Democrat voting for Trump just doesn't make sense at this point. I can see voting third party, but Trump?
imagine getting caught up in a single poll 10 months from the Iowa caucus. This national poll with the same data points has Pete polling at double that one posted above It's almost like we shouldn't put much emphasis on individual polls and instead look at what happened in 2016 with Bernie supporters if we want an accurate picture of that phenomenon
it’s odd in the fact that bernie bros are among the stupidest segment of the electorate but no, those numbers are totally believable
We see polls all the time about Democrats being against Trump. I'm just saying I find it surprising that any democrats would vote for Trump. You don't?
Well, if true, I hope they all die. Assuming this data is correct, do you guys think that part of the reason for this is Russian influence on these people considering that Russians target support for Trump and allegedly for Bernie?
All I hear around me is Pete, Pete, Pete. Everyone I know is so impressed by his intelligence, ability to quickly listen and respond with a coherent and well thought out response, and his poise and likability in general. I'm a convert and I was hoping we could get him in 10 years instead of the next election. Now, I say let's do this.
As I have stated I am going D or Bernie no matter what but yeah, the comparisons of Pete to Bobby Kennedy are turning out out be true. This is gonna be a weird 10 months. Hollywood is starting to back him and you know that brings in cash, it's gonna be the top 3 imo.
Anecdotal, I've seen a handful of Republicans & claimed "independents" (that vote mostly R) talk very highly about Pete and are impressed by him. It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out
The fact he’s #3 (and only trails Biden by 4 and Betnie by 3) with 40-50% name recognition and a high favorable rating suggests to me that he has A LOT of upside. If you like to gamble, he is probably a good longshot right now for both the Dem nom and 2020 election winner.
What problem do you have with that? I have not constructed the Kennedy comparison it has been out in the media.
good thing we won't have to worry about all this bernie bro hand wringing when he wins the nomination and we agree to all vote for him in solidarity!
I've been busy so must have missed it but Id be curious the logic behind it. On basically no level I can discern are they similar.
I’m a Bernie supporter. The DNC could grab a homeless guy off the street as their candidate in 2020 and I’m voting for him over Donald Trump. I understand the frustration of the DNC favoring Clinton over Bernie in 2016, but voting for Trump out of spite (hell, even just not voting for the Dem candidate period) is dumb as shit.
I can't wait for the day that Biden tells the world he isn't running and then the polls that follow and see how his 20% shakes out.
You'll be waiting a long time since he's planning his campaign announcement in a week or so according to Twitter
Bernie Bros want a Progressive Trump. So not really surprising they go for him when they get butthurt they can’t get Bernie.
It's the young likeable thing. and the quick rise. Also the Navy service and the tone. Obviously Bobby had more experience and came from a big family, but there are similarities. It's simply something I have seen thrown out and it's starting to stick.
Listening to GOP strategist Scott Jennings spin everything on morning edition this morning was explosively rage inducing. Paraphrased, he had the gall to say "if the president owes the American public anything, it's a strong response to Russian election interference which began under his predecessor and was not addressed"
Can someone tag me when this stops being terrible? This thread is to shitting on Trump, there's a thread to whine about candidates.
This is my exact feelings on Bernie and why I feel like he’s the worst of all options to be the D nominee
