Just rewatched and I think Jon paused due to Dany’s comments and remembering what Sam said to him about her giving up the crown like he did. He knows she isn’t going to let him ever make a claim to the throne.
So Tyrion sat down with Bran to get his whole story and then it suddenly switched to a different scene. Wonder if there’s gonna be some type of payoff from that.
Yeah Tyrion is obsessed with dragons. He knows only a Targ can ride one and he saw him ride one so he put it together. Bran most likely told him as well and will back Jon’s story to Dany.
So Gendry will be dying on the front line, Arya will be a bad ass and destroy dozens of walkers to get to him but will eventually be overtaken...then Nymeria and her legion of wolves will show up and turn the battle. Dear god the tears...
Anyone think Melisandre shows back up before the end? I'm still holding out hope for the Azor Ahai prophecy to be fulfilled.
It also wasn't really much of a pause. She says "That means you're the last male Targ heir." Jon stares at her for a couple seconds, and she says "you'd have a claim to the iron throne." Maybe one second later the horn sounds, and it looked like he was about to say something right then. You could be right about him thinking back to what Sam said, but it also could have just been Jon being who he is and having no clue how to talk about any of it.
Definitely. She told Varys she was going to Volantis but she'd be back to Westeros because she had to die there.
I think she'll definitely show back up at some point. They made a pretty big deal out of the "leave town, and I'll kill you if you come back" moment at the end of season 6. Her potentially coming back to Winterfell is the only reason I can see Davos maybe making it through the upcoming battle.
it was the most important scene of the episode imo. i'm even thinking winterfell lives/many survive next week because tyrion said so around the fire.
That was one of the better character driven episodes they’ve done in a while. It’s been a sore spot for the show lately but I was more invested in these characters and there interactions than I have been in a bit. I don’t think as many name players that aren’t essentially unnamed Unsullied, Dothraki, and Northerners are going to die in the next episode. There is still another huge battle to take place in episode 5 and possible 6 in Kings Landing. Some of the characters you think are going to die won’t bite the bullet until later this season. My best guesses are Edd, Pod, Jorah, Theon, and possibly Missandei. I also don’t think we are getting mad queen Dany. I understand why some think that because the way the show has decided to portray Dany. I, instead, tend to think it’s because D&D have completely lost the plot regarding what Dany actually yearns for in the books and what the Iron Throne actually represents to her. Since they want to milk as much drama as they can out of Jon/Dany before they marry, and the show hasn’t been able to conceive of any drama surrounding her that isn’t “Iron Throne, mine?” we get this heavy handed fake out.
Dany's character has been so trash for the past few seasons, which is a god damn shame considering how charming and charismatic Emila Clarke is in real life. Trying to befriend Sansa (only after Ser Jorah's advice) then immediately withdrew her hand and dropping the charade when Sansa even brought up Nortern independence, then that bullshit with Jon in the crypts when her first thought wasn't that they committed incest but he might have a better claim to the throne. She's basically turning into a (slightly) kinder but much MUCH dumber version of Little Finger. Without dragons, she's nothing.
I'd say all of those are probable. Only people I would be surprised at dying next week would be Lannisters, Starks, and Targaryens.
i just need one more top tier kill to cement her legacy if she gets both of them then she goes down as the baddest ass in tv history
I will say I went back and listened to all 8 hours or so of the Binge Mode preview for this season and it gave a lot more depth to that episode. It’s kind of on the show runners to make the show stand alone without that context, but it was a truly great episode with that background fresh in my mind.
With maybe 1-2 exceptions, I’m thinking anybody that had a feel good moment in this episode is dead by 10:15 next Sunday.
This would be peak GoT though. Wait 8 seasons for Clegane Bowl and then they’re just like “nope”. Maybe the hound will get killed and reanimated and then we get zombie mountain vs zombie hound.
Are there any podcasts out there that are worth a listen too for summarizing what episodes have already aired?
Hadn't thought about it but could totally see Hound dying saving Arya, maybe Arya even mercy kills him. Hound is like "My brother still on your list?" and Arya takes him out.
and now I'm totally nerding out. how cool would it be if the Mountain is just totally turning the tide of battle, just wrecking people and Arya faces off with him in a callback to the Oberyn fight: she calls out his crimes as a too-slow Mountain can't lay a finger on her and takes him down. he tries a late comeback again but Arya is too quick and too ruthless and puts him away.
Bald Move. They do a show after each episode. Instant take is up Monday morning. Tuesday is a full review of the show. Friday is a spoiler episode, which was discussing the show in context with the books but since we're past the books it's largely just discussing different theories over the years. There are no actual show spoilers.
About time someone sits down and talks with Bran. Next week: RIP Jorah, getting wished good fortune. RIP Greyworm, making plans for afterwards. RIP Brienne, first female Knight.
I felt like there was dialog at some point in the episode that foreshadowed this, but in the opposite. I can't recall the exact line, but it may have been by Jaimie.
I forgot who said it but they said he wouldn’t put himself in any danger if he knows that him dying would destroy the dead army. It’s why I believe the theory he doesn’t show up at Winterfell. It’s a huge risk for him and his dragon taking on the other 2 dragons. I did notice at the end of the show all of the white walkers were holding spears so they will all be gunning for Dany and Jon’s dragons.
so basically 6 episodes worth of content. if you figure an average episode is in the low to mid 50 minute range.
Everyone predicting that Theon dies obviously forgot that what is dead may never die Shame on all of you
