Very surprised at how good Mathis looked. Much faster and arm much stronger than expected. We may have ourselves more than a placeholder
I tried to tell you Stag. He's a player. Let him get a full year in S&C/training table under his belt. He can fly.
The biggest non-story this whole spring had to be center. Pretty awesome that with all the talent on the line, Hill apparently came in and locked it down. That’s great for the fall.
Nothing at all to worry about on the OL. Cade Mays and and Salyer aren’t 1’s but aren’t 2’s. Think about that. Never thought I’d ever see the day when we’ve got two 5* OL just waiting their turn.
Probably helped that he was Fromm’s center in HS. I still worry that his legs are too massive for center. He fumbled a snap last year, that looked like it brushed his legs.
Also, I must’ve totally missed the memo, but Nic Claxton could theoretically declare for the draft, hire an agent, and still come back to UGA if he doesn’t get drafted. Holy shit at that rule.
Every SEC East team has a QB with at least 13 games of starting experience coming into this fall. Experience doesn’t necessarily mean talent, but it’s interesting to note. The division might hold its own this year. South Carolina - Bentley (32) Vandy - Neal (32 for Ball State) UGA - Fromm (28) UF - Franks (21) Missouri - Bryant (18 for Clemson) UK - Wilson (13)
wow. add this to the fact that almost everyone of those teams has a bye before us this year and it could be an interesting little regular season.
I felt a little tingle in my nether regions watching the 2nd string LOS with those 3 on oline and Cox, Davis, Wyatt on dline.
I don't like the NCAA any more than the rest of you, but to pretend like you have all of the relevant information that went into these decisions is fucking hilarious. You don't. Ford was a disaster in Athens who was going to get kicked out/flunk out of school if he didn't straighten up. Who's to say the NCAA doesn't have information along those lines? Perhaps an academic record? A class attendance record? This continued farce about Ford moving home for his sick grandfather proves the gullibility of the average human being. Sick grandfather had absolutely nothing to do with anything.
Tried to tell you Jonathan Abram was a player Stagger Lee but you wouldn’t have it. Just went first round.
Miss State had 3 players go in the first round. I wonder how long it will take Mullen to get Florida up to Miss State’s talent level.
He fell into most of them. Simmons had the video issue. Sweat was booted from Michigan State for being a shithead. Abram only went there bc we fired Richt
I don't think anyone questions Pruitt's ability to find and sign talent - especially on the defensive side of the ball. That's why I expect UTenn to be more talented than Florida in the very near future. It somewhat pains me to say that but I think it is coming.
Jaden Hunter is transferring. If I hadn’t read the article about it, I would’ve had no idea who he was. Went back and read my recruiting write up on him, and he was totally forgettable then too.
The ‘94 UT-UGA game in Athens was one of the first CFB games I truly remember attending. Got to go on the field and got high fives from Brice Hunter and Eric Zeier.
It was mostly a joke, but this is factually correct. I was a Washington fan until the late 90s. Not sure I owned a UGA piece of apparel until 97 or 98.
The exodus that Crean didn’t get last off-season is happening now. If Claxton ends up going to the nba, we have 4 additional openings this year. 1. Claxton - NBA (presumably) 2. Toppin - Ga State 3. Hightower - Tulane 4. Ignas Sargiunas - who knows That is in addition to the 4 seniors, Edwards, Ogbeide, Wilridge, and Turtle. Pretty crazy to lose 8 scholarship players from a basketball team. Glad Crean is bringing in a significant talent upgrade.
This guy's supposed to decide on Monday, and it's down to UGA and Iowa St. https://247sports.com/Player/Sahvir-Wheeler-45572883/
With that many open spots, wonder if we jump on any JUCO or grad transfers, or if we try and hold a couple spots for 2020
And I just saw that Jayson Stanley signed with the Falcons as an UDFA at corner. Considering his hands issues and his toughness, that’s a great experiment.
