What are they doing so assist with the detainees that have willingly broken our laws and their children? I just want to make sure the “yes” isn’t finger pointing in Congress and it’s actually in the way of resources.
Alright guys, we’ve been here before. We are battle tested. Let’s put that experience to use and blanket mute this disingenuous fuck before the thread gets derailed.
Yes, that guy was asking for resources to improve conditions for those kids and not trying to get more money for republican donors who run these child concentration camps.
Seems pretty obvious to me that they need resources. These “concentration camps” were built under Obama and the laws have been enforced similarly under gop and dem presidents because you know... it’s a law.
They can’t afford doctors apparently and the dems appear to like it so they can politicize it. People who break the law and their children typically don’t end up in 5 star hotels.
Bad faith arguments everywhere. Regardless of when this started (and your initial insinuation is incorrect or at the very least incomplete) it’s wrong. End the practice. More resources to make more cages and inflict more suffering isn’t what is needed. More resources to help people crossing the border (many NOT illegally) is needed. Done with this conversation.
But if you do what you’re suggesting brown people don’t get hurt and how will bigots feel better about themselves if brown people are helped rather than hurt?
I have no problem with legal immigration. Illegal immigration is a complex issue. This is an example of the strain it causes on our economy. Again, it is not the fault of the US that these parents endangered their children. They are dealing with it the best they can apparently. You have to enforce the laws and deter people from breaking them or there is no point. I see no upside to poor, uneducated, and unhealthy undocumented immigrants coming in to the country in large numbers. It is sad their country doesn’t provide opportunities for them, but the tax payers cannot help all of them. In the meantime while we’re figuring this out, the dems should practice what they preach and offer aid the the children caught up in all of this instead of politicizing and doing nothing to help IF they sincerely care.
Maybe we can help their countries actually provide for their citizens and not “help” criminals crossing illegally by definition. We have actual citizens of this country that are homeless and hungry. Shouldn’t we help them first? Don’t we owe our resources to them first? We don’t want the country to reflect Nancy Pelosi’s district if we can help it.
Help them like we did in the 80s? That’s how we got where we are. Nice talking points but those who you voted for have put tax break over helping those who need help. But don’t worry now that billionaires can deduct the expenses of owning a private jet those savings are going to trickle down on us like a golden shower.
What I keep hearing is there is a lack of access, so they can't even get in these places to see what is happening. Zero transparency into what is actually going on.
Seems like a whole separate issue to complain about. Also, I didn’t vote for anyone. I’m simply stating we owe it to the citizens first and until we have it figured out, we should not entertain this open border/encouraging of mass immigration. We have our own homeless/poverty problems to focus on. Surely you would agree with that, even though i’m sure you’ll figure out a way to argue.
Well I just caught up and sorry I did, because your search for info comes across as disingenuous. Obama didn't build the centers to separate children. There is a difference between building a structure and how the structure is used with policy. Do you truly believe that this policy of child separation as it is happening now was what occurred under Obama? Why is it that 6 children are dead in the two years and none in the prior decade when immigration was worse? Your president is an evil douchebag, and if you support it by creating false and made up equivalencies then so are you.
Who has an open border policy? There is no democrat that has ever advocated for an open border policy so if you’re going to pretend to not be a Trumptard come here with facts. As to your disingenuous questions, yes it would be nice if we helped the homeless and those who need help but again those who you voted for decided that more tax breaks was the way to go. Perhaps you should start voting for people that will do what you claim you want done instead of voting and supporting the candidates that promises to hurt minorities the most.
He doesn't actually care about those things he's just using them to cut down a different thing he doesn't like
Are you capable of having a discussion like a mature human being without resorting to calling me names like “trumptard”? It just kind of takes away your credibility. For the second time in a row - I voted for no one. Stop throwing that out there like you were in the booth with me. Talk about disingenuous. I’ve seen people on this board advocating for open borders and a widespread criticism of ICE. I’m sure you have seen that. That’s what I am talking about. You yourself said we should encourage legal immigration. I don’t think we should necessarily discourage it (predicting your response), but I see no need to let the world know to come on down. So you think since people that aren’t me voted for GOP and their policies don’t help the homeless we should bring in more homeless people that aren’t citizens? I’m just having a hard time following this point. These policies don’t negatively effect minorities. That is your disingenuous talking point. Maybe a tad racist because you would assume strictly because an individual is black they are poor or more inclined to have an abortion or something? People of all races benefit or don’t benefit the same. A black or Hispanic guy in the same tax bracket benefits just the same. I don’t know of policies that specifically call out a law abiding citizen based on race - maybe you can help me out.
US policy with respect to Latin America is certainly responsible for the current status of those countries they are fleeing. Read up on US interventionism in this hemisphere. Monroe doctrine and Roosevelt corollary would be a good starting point. Obviously they aren’t. The zero tolerance family separation policy was a horrendous Trump policy that has inflicted untold trauma on children still hasn’t reunited all of them with their parents. You can enforce the laws without separating families and requiring detention until completion of asylum review. Google “alternatives to detention” and immigration to learn about the successful programs that can prevent family separation that the Trump administration ended in favor of putting babies in jails. This is exactly the group of people coming to this country that built it into what it is today. So, your lack of vision would have cost us becoming what we are today. Undocumented workers contribute more to taxes then they receive because they aren’t eligible for benefits.
A Republican Trump supporter saying he doesn’t want the country to resemble the district with the highest property values in the country? Welcome to the resistance, comrade!
I guess you only like CERTAIN people who break the law. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...ne-year-in-prison-for-tax-fraud-idUSKBN1H43DJ
While I don’t like her impeachment stance, Pelosi just dropped about a dozen lines that will cause Trump to go ballistic so this should be a fun day. If nothing else, she’s excellent at needling him.
