Do you not agree there are additional abuses minorities are facing under a Trump admin that go beyond what they have been facing institutionally forever? Again, winning the next election is not a magic bullet. It was never my intention in this conversation infer it would. However I think it will stop the additional atrocities immigrants and poc are facing that are a direct result of this administrations policies. A super low bar, I know, but it's something.
This is why Pete is working, he talks constantly about this. Dragging the center back to where it should be and then moving left from there. He simply does it in a different way. Edit: I worded that poorly, he wants to push left to move the line where it should be.
Just for everyone’s reference neoliberalism n. A political theory of the late 1900s holding that personal liberty is maximized by limiting government interference in the operation of free markets. n. A political orientation originating in the 1960s, blending liberal political views with an emphasis on economic growth. n. A political movement that espouses economic liberalism as a means of promoting economic development and securing political liberty.
I'm not sure that window will ever be dragged back left until the fairness doctrine is re-established. The right is going as far right as possible. Us going further left, as we should, isn't going to change their view & the shit that is spouted to the masses on Fox & the GOP propaganda network.
the global consensus has largely been to legislate from a neoliberal perspective both on the center right and center left which have had large scale control in major european countries for decades, many academic studies are showing that austerity measures especially are causing a large spike in support for extreme right wing positions. some countries are losing that fight all together while others are just in constant chaos since those groups have gotten a toe hold.
i'll add this section of the definition "These ideas include economic liberalization policies such as privatization, austerity, deregulation, free trade[5] and reductions in government spending in order to increase the role of the private sector in the economy and society.[13]"
I am sure that Lou Dobbs opposes sanctions on Iran for the same reasons he thinks Disney shouldn’t punish innocent Georgia residents for “a partisan, religious, and ideological debate and conflict that is deeply unfair.”
I don't disagree with your overall point but just because people want more than the bare minimum done it doesn't mean they are brushing said atrocities aside they just realize that there are even deeper level issues that need to be addressed. We have an opportunity here with people energized and senses heightened to aim a little bit higher than what you yourself just admitted is a very low bar.
Stop trying to start some bullshit argument. Just look at the turnout for the last election in 16 of you don’t believe neoliberal policies (not just Obama’s) haven’t taken a toll on the populace of the United States and have led many to believe that it doesn’t matter who they vote for. The idea that I’m 100% blaming Obama for Trump is something you’ve made up in your head.
The optimal 2020 outcome for most contributors in this thread is a democratic house and senate majority, Warren as president and Pete as VP. Can you imagine the pivot from today? '16-'24 would be an incredibly interesting 8 year stretch of history to be alive for.
damn with the conservative boycotts of NBC and disney and netflix....they are gonna be left with james woods and dean cain movies for their entertainment.
nah. I’d like a person of color on the ballot. Ideally I’d like to see warren win the nomination with an African American or latinx VP
I’d prefer Pete as an agency head. Secretary of Labor or Commerce would be good. Maybe even Secretary of Defense, but that would be a troll move. I agree with this but would consider a Latinx or Asian VP as well
Assuming Biden gets the nom, history will be decided by who gets the VP slot given the fact Biden will almost certainly be pressured into stepping down after one term given his age. Sadly, we know it won’t be Warren. But whoever he or she is they will be primed to lead the party for the next 8 yrs.
The problem is whatever mystery candidate in year 4 is based on history going to be an underdog if that scenario was playing out.
If Biden steps down after one term the Dem candidate will be an under dog against the Republican based on historical trends.
The reactions to this are amazing. Not to bring up the homeboard again, but someone brought up how morally hypocritical Disney is to possibly shut it down in Ga, but still run amusement parks in Saudi Arabia and Shanghai. They cant comprehend those decisions arent made on moral values, but capitalism.
This article encapsulates their thinking here. It's amazing this is not satire. https://www.americanthinker.com/blo...cialist_vehicle_for_cultural_destruction.html
Beto is more of a head scratcher than Abrams. I wouldn’t run for senate if I was her either. The game is obviously fucking rigged in GA
My personal absolute dream ticket is Pete/Abrams. It would piss off so many people. Also, they are both fucking rock solid.
I'm asking because I don't know, could Beto flip and run for senate? He kinda lost his mojo but if he could swerve this into that lane it could be a great move.
That may be true, but I wouldn’t be sweating it. Trump won principally due to Hillary’s unpopularity—60k decided it. I think someone young and “likeable” would be in a good position to beat those trends. Of course, nothings a given and a lot depends on who will win the GOP nom. I’m still convinced Trump is likely to try for it again given he’s a narcissist and has nothing else to do in life. But if it’s not him it’ll prob be Cruz, Christie, etc. I like our odds there.

I actually like Warren better, but yes I am a fan of Pete. I simply think misogyny will outweigh hate for a gay white guy in the general. Pete will have his time, but, I'm not sure when that is.

maybe once he’s a better candidate I like pete too but he’s not the best candidate. he’s also a white male and I don’t want that
I was just thinking this. How the fuck do you manage to get removed from ITALY of all places for fascism
And as I said, he is number 2 for me right now. I wish we had ranked primary voting. I'll likely vote Pete for personal reasons (Having had a beer with the guy). Warren is far above in policy, I'm playing the waiting game on Pete, he may surpass her or, completely flounder. I just think he has the better chance to murder Trump in the general. Trump has nothing on him yet, and I think his bullshit would be shed more easily by Pete, it truly is a demeanor and reception thing.
I have a feeling that Lizzy Warren is going to blow up after the first debate. Americans will be reminded that she is nails.
This thread and the shitpit are perfect examples of American politics. While you guys argue constantly they are united in their stupidity. Yes they are mind numbingly stupid. They are POS but they are united in that hateful stupidity.
