I do. It has to hardwired and I had to buy a bigger transformer so I could use my existing doorbell chime. I've had zero problems with it.
Worth it. I paid about $30 more for the Nest version but it’s such a great deterrent and a nice toy to add to a smart home. Didn’t have any trouble rigging that to the existing chime. I’d imagine Ring is fairly compatible out of the box.
You have to find it first. When I hooked mine up the chime wouldn't work, it's one of those older ones. So during my googling is when I found out about needing a new/bigger transformer. Mine is located in the attic and I got mine around this time last year. It was hot as fuck swapping it out but easy.
find where your doorbell chime is and remove the cover. you should see a transformer in there. that transformer will have its rating printed on it.
no no no, you're doing it all wrong - sell that bad boy on Facebook to some schmuck for a couple hundred bucks - bam just got your OLED on sale for a little cheaper
Wife: “we are not getting a new tv until this one dies.” I turn it on when she goes to bed at night and then turn it off before she gets up.
There’s gotta be some Russian made video you could play on it that’ll cause burn in or kill some pixels
Not the sexiest purchase but I will be keeping an eye out on a good, portable vacuum. My current one is an older one and the wand attachment no longer works.
I have it and it's awesome. I don't have Nest or an Echo so I can't comment on how it interacts with them. I also have mine hardwired and I didn't need to make any modifications to my doorbell.
Walmart Announces Its Own Deals for Prime Day 2019 to Compete with Amazon Save on thousands of items at Walmart from July 8th to the 17th and get eligible items shipped the next day. Walmart announced plans to offer thousands of "special buys" and "rollbacks" from July 14th to July 17th to coincide with Amazon Prime Day. Since the first Prime Day in 2015, it's become one of the biggest online shopping events of the year. And Walmart (understandably) wants a piece of the action. I rent an apartment so I under-utilize it but I enjoy it for getting the weather, checking sports scores, setting timers/alarms, reading my news to me, and playing music. I believe it syncs up with a lot of the smart home stuff.
Unplug it and tell her it's broken. 99% chance that'll work. Then sell it on Facebook and treat yoself
I have lights and my Nest products on it. Best part is the bedtime routine where it checks the locks, cuts the rest of the lights off, and arms the alarm in one go. Also use it for a shower routine where it shuffles a playlist for me and turns the light in the bathroom onto a colorloop.
Wow. I feel like you just described all the apartment scenes in Blade Runner 2049. Are your locks/alarms a system? That may be an investment for a house when we build.
The nest sucks imo. Had it for a couple months and replaced it with an ecobee3. Much superior to the nest imo, unless you are trying to use all the “saver” features. Anyone have a rec for a doorbell camera and outdoor cameras? I’m trying to avoid nest products.
That Nest doorbell sale doesn't really look like a deal. I'm seeing it for that same "sale" price everywhere.
If you don't mind hardwiring, I had good luck with foscam security cams and angelcam for the cloud service. I'll probably go wifi and battery powered for my next one, due to an awkward layout of my front porch.
Nelson Also jplaYa Sorry to hear about your TV 'breaking' Here you go https://slickdeals.net/f/13203232-65-lg-oled65c8pua-4k-uhd-hdr-oled-smart-tv-1599-free-s-h
Yea it’s the Nest Guard. The door/window sensors are easy to figure out and have a cool night light feature and a button for a temporary override if you need to go outside without disarming. I liked it best because of how it interfaces with Google Home and how it has little fobs you can tap on it to arm and disarm instead of punching in your code every time. I’m sure I paid a little more to keep it all in the same product suite rather than trying to piecemeal something together but it’s nice to be able to lease a code to a family member and have the act of them unlocking the door simultaneously disarm the alarm. Gotta make sure the pupper is loved on by her grandparents.
Mind explaining why? I just bought a house with Nest thermostat and 2 outdoor Nest cameras. In addition, I had recently switched Sonos over to Google Assistant from Amazon Alexa and was preferring it more. I was about to go all in on Nest in the next few days.
Let me know what you go with. I just bought the 27" 1440p version of this. the 24" 1080p is a great (non-prime day) deal. About $210 net since Rakuten points can be used on most anything. https://www.rakuten.com/shop/dell/product/u2419hcsap/
Do we have a TV buying thread? Looking at new Sony TV's and really don't know what to make of the 832 different models they have.
We do have a TV purchase thread, but no discussion of the Sony models IIRC. To understand, look at the last letter in the model, that equals model year. Newer will be better obviously for things like wifi performance, voice input, smart home integration etc. That's where the improvement has been over the last couple years. G= 2019 F=2018 E=2017 etc The higher the number the better the TV. E.G. "700" has fewer features than the "850" which has less than "950" just ask if you have any specific questions. I'm looking to pick up the 65" 950G (full model = XBR65X950G) , which hovers around $1900
I believe the C9 is the competitor I need to eliminate before I'm done researching, but haven't 'tracked' C9 pricing yet. I thought it stays above $2400?
