It’s set up exactly how you take it one class a day. It’s also not supposed to say the only class you take in a day it’s supposed to supplement your other workouts (strength, stretching, cardio).

332 kj on 6/14 (cody pop ride)
356 kj on 6/28 (olivia pride ride)
370 kj today (robin hip hop ride)

i even got to 286 kj with an emma interval+arms ride so that's with seven minutes of not really pedaling for the arm workouts.

    gains for days.

today's 370 felt amazing (except for the last five minutes where i felt like i was nearly going to throw up... i'm intermittent fasting so some of these fasted workouts are really tough).

Would you guys recommend the 2 week Welcome to Peloton Cycling program? Seems like a good way to intro to a bunch of different instructors too?

Congrats on the bike. FYI, a lot of us have had the bike longer than programs have existed (they're pretty new), and I have no opinion on any specific program since I've never looked at them. That said, if the ride durations in the program look workable for you, it's probably worth a try. Trying a variety of instructors definitely makes sense - most people find a subset of favorites who entertain and motivate them. When you look at ride durations, remember there is no freewheeling/downhills in spin - you work the whole duration with recovery periods just being lighter effort. On average, I find 45 min on a Peloton feels a bit more tiring than 45 min on a bike. Enjoy!

We have a Strava group if you want to join at any point.

i'd recommend the recent all-for-one 4th of july ride for a quick preview of all of the instructors (and the ride is a blast).

We have a DIY bike. Sunny Spin Bike, Wahoo Cadence Sensor, iPad Mount, iPhone Mount, Scosche Rhythm+ HR Monitor. All in for like $400.

Pros: Significantly cheaper bike. significantly cheaper Peloton Digital subscription price
Cons: Bike doesn't give a resistance reading so its all on feel. I feel like I've learned my bike well enough to know what resistance I'm riding at. Also no output number either.

Personally wouldnt spend the money on a Peloton bike even though I really want one. Ive riden 22 straight days and 5 straight weeks. I'm getting much more use out of it than my wife who wanted it more.

:peekaboo: I see texasraider regularly stomping out 10 miles+ for 30 min rides lately. Progress is happening. Steadily breaking 20 mph on average in rides was my most memorable milestone. Well done.

Agree, the bike and metrics really make tracking performance so much easier than any other program I've followed. Faster weekly average speeds on Strava? Higher output totals? PRs? There's no other explanation than you're getting stronger and the progress is easy to see. The reward of tangible progress motivates me to keep pushing.

So linked the starva from the peloton and it’s not transferring my past rides. Does it not have that capability? Also, do you need to purchase the yearly fee to get the data?

I never followed this process though, so I can't vouch for it. My earliest Peloton rides before joining Strava don't appear in my Strava history, which makes my lifetime stats a little light.

Looking in to this, realized my #550 milestone ride was tonight during a 10 min cool down ride. Explains why that weird Aussie guy kept high fiving me during a stupid cool down ride.

Y’all are superstars. My PR for a 30 min ride is 305. Granted it was 260 last week and I broke new PRs every ride since. My legs aren’t sore but I can feel them being slightly more tired even sitting at work.

my best was 298 a month ago. i've dropped ~40 pounds since memorial day and (probably more importantly) have been consistently riding M/T/Th/F and finally got my seat better aligned and am hitting higher numbers. but if you're already going from 260>300, you're way ahead of me.

For whatever I reason I just can't see a treadmill getting use at home the way I can a cycling bike. Maybe because I associate cycling with a class and not a treadmill.

I am a runner. Not better not worse just different not unlike the difference between cycling and running. It was just awesome and 1000 times better than any other thread I’ve ever used. It was great on my knees and ankles. The class was also engaging like the bike ones. If I only could have one it’s the bike because I enjoy running outdoors more than I do cycling out doors and I think I’d use the bike more than the thread.

Nice job, I had the same experience. My legs were hurting at the end of Emma's warm-up (felt very heavy). Thought it was going to be a painful ride with lower output, but I also PR'ed. I rode it as an encore with around 40 others, and had a fellow rider to chase the last 10 minutes, which did push me.

Weight history on Peloton: I dropped almost 20 in the first six months and was skinny as a rail, faint double chin completely gone. Despite continuing to ride, my weight is trending up - back up 10 pounds from my lowest point. No sign of double chin or larger pants size, so assuming is muscle. My legs are more ripped than I ever thought I'd see, and slim cut pants are getting pretty snug in the thighs. Love the results - I don't see many other middle aged men as lean looking in the face, even in Colorado.

I don't have any tread interest either, not a runner. High school coaches who treated running as punishment solidified that association in my brain. A rowing product would empty my wallet in a heartbeat.

I wanted the bike but before I got it I was afraid that it would be too boring because I’ve always been an outdoor runner and “cyclist” but obviously the classes are engaging. That honestly is what I think would be the case with the thread if I had the room and cash for both I’d have them both.

Yeah there has been talk the next move from them is buying another company in a space they don't currently operate on. Whether that is the Mirror, Tonal or Hydrow.

To me it seems like Hydrow makes the most sense.

    Tonal:
    https://www.tonal.com/

Essentially both are wall mounted instructor led classes. Mirror seems more or less like a more advanced Peloton floor so don't think that is the avenue they go, if they go down that road. Tonal is the one that is intriguing as it is more weight centered outside of your standard free weights.
