Chicken Filet Spicy. Breading is mostly soft, small bits of crunch. Good spice. Bun held together well. Been a while since I've had one, tasty stuff.
The Popeyes sandwich is very good. Better bun. Big hunk of chicken. Was definitely crunchier, but I couldn't call it very crunchy. The heat is coming from a spicy sauce and it's spicier than CFA, but that also makes what would be a super crunchy sandwich a little soggier. The game changee is the pickles. The pickles on CFA are an afterthough. Popeyes came with some thicc (garlic?) dill chips on there, and more than a couple pathetic ones like CFA. I did try dipped in a bit of the sweat heat and blackened ranch, but it was better on its own. In summation, yes it is better than CFA. Maybe not miles better, but better.
Yeah, the environment of Popeyes is basically the anti-Chick Fil A. When I walked in to mine, the lady behind the counter was yelling at an old man (customer), that the food wasn’t ready and wouldn’t be until he sat down. The next guy up had a coupon and he and the high school kid at the register couldn’t figure out what the deal on the coupon was actually for, since half of the coupon was missing. I ordered after that, and it took about 15 minutes to get my food. While I waited, a group of about 10 guys came in dressed up for what I’m guessing was a costume party. They were all effeminate, and one of them was dressed up as a pirate. This brought delight to the two cooks in the back, and one of them yelled out “Oh shit! Look at butt pirates of the Caribbean! That mother fucker serious?!” Then, I finally got my spicy chicken sandwich. My expectations were low. It isn’t the prettiest sandwich, and it took so long that I just knew it would be soggy. Nope! Dead wrong! That was totally worth the awkward wait.
It’s definitely good but it came down a notch because the spicy chicken isn’t really spicy it’s just the spicy mayo on the bun to create the heat. for someone like myself who doesn’t eat mayo I had to have it without. It’s definitely a big hunk of crunchy yet juicy chicken just wish they’d actually season the meat with the spicy seasoning like they do the regular chicken and the tenders.
I think it is their spicy chicken. Their spicy chicken just isn't spicy, just a bolder flavor. The touch of heat definitely comes from the sauce though.
Nah I was talking to the manager when I was putting in my order he says it’s the mild chicken they use on both sandwiches just the spicy they use spicy mayo instead of regular. He gave my some on the side to try and it was spicy but still tasted like mayo so I just ate it without. He said they’ll probably make a spicy with the seasoning in the future because he’s had a few people order it without the sauce because they don’t like mayo.
Had it tonight. It was really good, with the crunch being the highlight. The nearest CFA is an hour away from where I live, so I’m glad to have a local option for a good chicken sandwich now.
The Hollywood one is literally a block away from a big nightclub that currently has 40 pending lawsuits against it related to illegal operations - so yea that late night crowd at this Popeye's is a sight to behold.
No, the Hollywood one should be condemned and shamed by all other Popeye's locations. As aforementioned, it's TV dinner level food quality.
I may go to the Popeye’s near me in the burbs tomorrow. Doubt it’s nearly as entertaining as some accounts ITT
I hate traditional mayonnaise, but will eat the hell out of something like this or spicy mayo at a Japanese restaurant.
The dumbfucks at every Popeyes I've been to haven't figured out how to not fry the chicken so long that it tastes like a cicadia
Been to PDQ many times. Honey butter and Buffalo Bleu are good sandwiches but the Popeyes one is a good bit better. Try one.
Grew up on Popeyes. There was only one in KC and it was in a pretty rough part of town. Their mashed potatoes and gravy, red beans and fries have always been elite. I’m pretty sure my mom was the only soccer mom in town that was a regular at that place. Whenever we saw those red and yellow boxes, it was on like donkey Kong.
Hungover as balls and awaiting my spicy chicken sandwich. Ordered the mayo on the side. So many scumbags in here today
