Sceptre Brewing in Oakhurst is damn solid and a chill place. Also have argosy's burger with white cheese and it was amazing
Wife and I wandered into the O4W Rad Dads Soapbox Derby today. Very random event but very cool nonetheless
Checked out Lost Druid Brewery in Avondale Estates yesterday. Not too bad, didn’t get food but it also looked pretty good. Probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go there, but it’s a good spot nonetheless.
Coolray super reliable but on the pricier side...Assured Heating and Air has done a good job at my office as well
Tour Championship. Anyone been? Was given tickets so going Thursday. Think I am going to park at a Marta station on the Eastside and Uber in. F parking at GWCC and taking the shuttle.
Yea I go every year. Going Saturday/Sunday this year. Its awesome. Def take an Uber in or use private paid parking around East Lake. Dont bother with that shuttle.
Yea, private houses will do parking like in Augusta. Also will be some free onstreet parking a few blocks away. Best place to look if you get there at a reasonable time is the Funeral home at the intersection of Memorial and East Lake Dr.
Staying in Alpharetta with in-laws this weekend, but they graciously offered to watch our twin 1yr olds tomorrow. Thinking of doing beltline with a mix of Ponce and Krog St Market and a good dinner somewhere. Been a while since we had free time to roam around, so open to a better itinerary or recos. Taking the kids to a park today, lunch and potentially Scofflaw so any ideas in that area also appreciated.
I've got a good small shop guy and then I've called maintenance techs I knew from apartments before, let me know if you still need him and I'll send.
Speak of the devil, I went yesterday. I had two hours to kill before Touchdown Club at Cherokee. Didn't see cyclorama but it's about 45 minute show. It's the showcase of the AHC now. Civil, locomotive, and then local life exhibits. Budget an hour to wander + the show. Dad worked at the one in Chattanooga during college when it was still Confederama. Feel like the venn diagram for people who would like cyclerama would also include model train landscapes.
Hawkers was one of the better meals I've had in a while. Was a little hesitant bc it's kinda a chain, but it was fire
Plenty along Memorial to the north for $20. Uber pickup dropoff is at Drew High School. Publix lot was full this am after I dropped off the dog at camp. WE're having a 19th hole at the house on Saturday after we go, reach out if you'd like to stop by for a drink or even to park.
Parked at Marta and took an Uber. Super easy. Had fun! Glad we had Ultra lounge passes it was hot out there. Need the 1904 Club access next time.
I went to an event recently for the cyclorama. They've certainly future-proofed it. The restoration is amazing. For those of you that may have seen it when it is was in the ghetto and spun, they've added about 8-10 feet back to the top so you actually view it from the second story. Pretty impressive. You go to the TDC often?
Yeah I was skeptical of a chain originating in Orlando, but one of my UCF buddies swore by it and he was correct.
Any great lunch spots near the aquarium? I'm thinking of branching out from my normal Antico/varsity.
I'm new to TCA this year but love it so far. Kirby was great last month and I enjoyed Geoff Collins and Luginbill this week. Chizik, Vince Dooley, and a few others are scheduled for the Monday luncheons this season.
Had Little Alley Steak last night. Their dry-aged lollipop ribeye may have been the best cut of meat I’ve ever had. Business partner got his topped with fois gras and black truffle butter, just absurd. Also, they’ve got the best bourbon selection I’ve seen in town. Even tops my favorite, Local Three.
Their outdoor bar was so incredibly Buckhead: blasting music, veneers, and the occasional pinky ring.
Came up on this bear while working in Forsyth County this morning. Shitty photo from my field tablet, but you get the gist of it. Estimated around 120-150lbs. Likely a young male that’s been pushed out of territory further north and trying to establish his own range. We watched each other for a solid 15 minutes at about 40’ while he ate muscadines and white oak acorns before deciding it was time to go our separate ways.
Going to the fox Friday night... Any great restaurants close buy? Quick Google showed me a bunch of chains.
