Really disappointing to see the lack of control from our pitchers. I was worried about that with Berrios, when he tries to do too much he can't throw enough strikes. And Little was a disaster. It was over from there in my mind. Let's go game 2.
99-63. Chacin joins the rotation and becomes the 2 or 3 starter by September Big Mike is ineffective and makes only 7 starts when he comes back Jake Cave winds up in left, Eddie becomes a malcontent Nelson Cruz goes on the IL three times Career year for Sano, hits 40 jacks Bux plays 140 games Top 3 AL bullpen Polanco is Polanco Arraez cement himself as one of the best hitters in the game. Donaldson hits bombs
This is a great paragraph and info by Gleeman about former starters in the bullpen: “And it’s hard to argue with their success, individually or as a quartet. Rogers, Duffey, May and Littell combined to go 18-8 with a 2.68 ERA in 228 innings [of relief] last year — essentially matching what a Cy Young-caliber performance by one starter would be — including a 2.36 ERA and 11.8 strikeouts per nine innings in the second half.”
For a guy like Nelson Cruz, is this lengthening his serviceable time as a player, or shortening it? Sure could go for some bombas right about now
Has been so great watching the baseball. Love this team. Wonder whether the new rotation additions will be able to contribute any tune soon, besides Maeda, who looks like an absolute steal.
Didn’t realize the Yankees were part of the cancelled games. Injuries have been ravaging all teams. I guess I hope the worst is behind the Twins. Writing off Donaldson at this point.
It was early. I think they were supposed to play PHI after they played the Marlins and the Marlins blew up. BAL was involved in that group of 4 too.
Was sweating it out with Rogers in the ninth. Dobnak's a frickin baller. Suppose tonight Donaldson will sit and Byron will start?
With Rosario moving up I said to my wife that is a good move because Buxton can beat soft hits in the IF. Then I pronounced him safe as soon as he hit it softly. I feel like I slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Amazing series. Gotta admit I’m hoping Rosario hits the IL so we can see Kiriloff in Chicago. Rosario has been erratic in every way and I’m tired of it.
Good morning and fuck the Sox. I’m nervous for the series but want to take three of four even though we have injuries up and down the lineup and among the pitching staff.
Well this was all unexpected a few days ago. I was resigned to thinking they might as well face the Yanks in round 1, but maybe could get them at home (which would be much better than playing them in their bandbox). But seeing scenarios play out wherein we’d just lose to them in the ALCS were both teams to get there? Not sure if it’d be better or worse.
