Follow up: we have lost something like 15 games by one score or less in the last five years. The issue with this program going from a losing record to even 6-6 or 7-5 has nothing to do with recruiting or development. We need some fucking gamers. Adrian is not that, at least not anymore. Luke has that “it” and competitiveness. So did Mills this last half season. It’s no surprise they were the ones down the stretch that showed the most fight. When your program is in these kinds of death throes you need to lean on those types of guys, not relegate them to the sideline.
I hate to give Pelini any credit but if there's one thing he had down while he was here was how to win a close game you should probably win. I don't think we're significantly less talented than most of his teams (which is why we've had similar results against actual good teams this whole time) besides a player or two but his teams knew how to win close games against like talent. We haven't had that besides 2016.
I disagree with this. It comes down to the god damn players. Have some balls, actually have no fear of failure... not the saying, but don’t be afraid of going full speed and fucking up. It’s going to happen, move on, next play. We’re just mentally fucked right now, and have been for awhile. I remember games like OU in the CCG... 17-0 lead and you knew were blowing shit like that
Difference being blowing a game against Oklahoma vs routinely blowing games against Illinois and Purdue like we have been with Frosty and Iron Mike. Those early to mid tenure Pelini teams (basically the Martinez years) were also much more talented than right now if u think about it. Not many current starters would see the field on the 2009 or 2010 teams.
Obviously Frost should’ve hired some veteran and talented ACs when he was hired. Now what talented AC is going to want to step into this shit show? This ain’t gonna end well for us and eventually Frost.
We are so hosed for the next two seasons. Don't imagine Frost gets even close to .500 after 4 years here. 2020 9/5/20 - Purdue - Lincoln 9/12/20 - Central Michigan - Lincoln 9/19/20 - South Dakota St. - Lincoln 9/26/20 - Cincinnati - Lincoln 10/3/20 - Northwestern - Evanston 10/10/20 - Illinois - Lincoln 10/24/20 - Rutgers - Piscataway 10/31/20 - Ohio St - Columbus 11/7/20 - Penn St. - Lincoln 11/14/20 - Iowa - Iowa City 11/21/20 - Wisconsin - Madison 11/27/20 - Minnesota - Lincoln 2021 8/28/21 - Illinois - Dublin 9/11/21 - Buffalo - Lincoln 9/18/21 - Oklahoma - Norman 9/25/21 - Michigan St. - East Lansing 10/2/21 - Ohio St. - Lincoln 10/9/21 - Northwestern - Lincoln 10/16/21 - Purdue - West Lafayette 10/31/21 - Michigan - Lincoln 11/6/21 - Iowa - Lincoln 11/13/21 - Southeastern Louisiana - Lincoln 11/20/21 - Wisconsin - Lincoln 11/26/21 - Minnesota - Minneapolis
it's weird how this is how people react on here when it's a cat but it's the end of the fucking world when it's a dog
Spoiler . Teamed up with 247Sports National Analyst Allen Trieu to log a 247Sports Crystal Ball forecast in favor of Nebraska for Minneapolis (Minn.) Minnehaha Academy Top247 outside linebacker Kaden Johnson. The four-star Johnson has strongly considered the Huskers alongside Wisconsin, Oregon State and Minnesota throughout the process, but it appears Scott Frost and company are in pole position of this recruitment. Johnson is a priority for the staff in Lincoln and on Sunday, the first day college coaches were on the road, sent outside linebackers coach Jovan Dewitt to visit with him and his family. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Johnson took his official visit to Nebraska the weekend of Sept. 28 and there was buzz coming out of the visit that the Huskers were in great shape. He took an official to Wisconsin in June and returned this fall to see them play, and Oregon State also got an official the weekend of Oct. 11. He’s been over to nearby Minnesota numerous times. Spots are getting tight in the Badgers and Gophers class while Nebraska is pushing to get Johnson in theirs. “Nebraska has made Kaden a priority and I think that will end up winning the day for them with him," Trieu said. "Other schools have recruited him, but I think they have put the pedal to the floor at different times where Nebraska has gone hard at him more consistently. He has expressed a desire to play in a 3-4 defense. I think he would, if possible, like to play in the Big Ten footprint, so there are many signs pointing towards Nebraska here barring a late change.” The industry-generated 247Sports Composite ranks Johnson as the nation’s No. 12 outside linebacker and No. 164 prospect overall.
one of my favorite unintentionally funny tropes here is when a dog just does something normal like wag its tail when its owner gets home and people are like " man it's getting dusty in here" anyway, continue husking as usual
Mine is when people are like hey dogs are better than people I hate people people bad dogs good nobody loves me and I am a sad dog lady
Honestly, if we can develop an OL and DL we can be competitive with any non-OSU team in the conference. we just haven’t been able to do that for most of the last decade so yeah.
It’s theoretically possible for Frost and crew to make our existing roster into a decent OL. I don’t think they will, but 2 full years of S&C and blocking schema could produce results. I’m just not gonna expect it to happen and expect to be shit again.
I'd say we saw some pretty good polished turds by the end of the season. If they can keep pulling in some good mits then we may have some hope on the lines.
Honestly I’m basically at the point where I wish we’d just commit to playing a similar style to Iowa/Wisconsin/good David Shaw at Stanford and just grind teams into the ground.
The OL might actually be the position group I'm most confident in going forward. Jurgens, Benhart, Piper, etc. show promise especially with how they did as a whole this year. I'm very dumb and awkward though.

Depends. He should've been fired after 7-7 or kept another year after going 9-3 and allow his shit recruiting to drop him back to .500. That's the decision that's fucked our program for 20 years. No one would've cared if we fired him after 7-7 considering where our program was but Pederson was a fucking idiot.
As someone who holds no ill will toward Scott, it sucks seeing him not succeed. Hope he can turn it around for you guys.
