Yeah well our academics aren’t propped up with all those wins from the turn of the 19th century when professors didn’t even wear helmets.
It’s mostly us laughing at these rationalizations to explain your loss. When do the academic rankings come out? Are you playing Northwestern in Indy? Did OSU finish fourth again behind Wisconsin?
I never said all ND fans still stuck to that argument. But you're delusional if you think a lot of ND fans don't rationalize their mediocrity for 30 years to them being on a "higher standard."
Riiiiiight Where did I make any of these rationalizations? I clearly stated I didn't agree with what that guy wrote. Your TMB fanbase seems incapable of accepting that you guys would be better off posting about these things on the Michigan blog sites because those guys would give you the responses you are really seeking.
herb.burdette being disingenuous, more local news at 11. Someone is a bit sensitive about the one thing Michigan actually does beat OSU at.
2019 NCAA Academic Progress Rate: Football APR Rankings No. 1-130 T22 Michigan 982 . T12 Ohio State 987
I certainly hope you see the irony in the academic stats you guys are high-fiving about recently tonight. I mean, I REALLY hope you see it, because it's like, right there.
I have an absolutely huge dick the Bucks are filthy at offense defense + special teams and I love osu academics. the maize and blue have an unfireable head coach with severe Aspergers early onset CTE and everybody fucking hates
You had me on all of this until I got to the special teams. OSU is a measly 18th in ST ranking according to SP+.
OSU has a much more superior football team than Michigan and has had that for the past two decades. Tressel changed the entire dynamic and the subsequent OSU coaches have carried that torch. There is no doubt about this. What strikes me as very odd is that reaping the rewards of that is not enough for some of you. It almost pains some of you that all Michigan fans aren’t apoplectic and want Harbaugh fired. Why? How do we further steep into the misery you require?
I got involved yesterday by posting an ESPN article comparing Harbaugh to John Cooper and Tom Osbourne, both of whom had a similar start and different finish. I thought it was an interesting take, because I was only aware of 1990’s Osbourne. Then Bruce Wayne suggested their were “moral” differences between OSU and Michigan which hold Michigan back, which is absurd. Then nofatchildren started posting a bunch of “I don’t mean it but really do mean it” stuff about the academic differences in football players at both schools, which is absurd. I responded to the absurdity. To answer your question on how much misery is enough, I spent almost all of the 1990’s as an OSU student between undergrad and law school. I know the misery.
I thought the portrayal of Xenia, OH in Gummo was bad enough. Most of us roll our eyes at the bullshit Rivals and mgoblog spew. As pez basically said, our senior “leaders” jumping offsides on a punt and not keeping contain the first play out of halftime can’t be attributed to the fact they might’ve spent 45 minutes in a lecture hall that week. But again, some of you assholes aren’t just content dominating this series lol. That’s perverse
Our internal metrics tell a different story. Unfortunately, you'll just have to take our word for it. Thanks. No interviews. Respect our decision All glory to God.
UM is clearly dedicated to football success, which is why they paid Jim Harbaugh a billion dollars to lose to OSU every year. However, it’s still possible to support football while not placing it as THEtm top priority. Under Richt, UGA gave a shit load of money to football and we succeeded quite a bit with it. Our AD still meddled and didn’t entirely sell out to football though (things like recruiting budget, indoor practice building, facilities upgrades). Once Richt was fired, our administration went all in with Kirby and has absolutely prioritized football on a number of levels. Kirby is a better coach than Richt, which is the most obvious factor, but he gets damn near everything he wants to facilitate it as well. We changed open records laws in the state because of Kirby. Michigan isn’t going to do that, and they’re going to be at a slight disadvantage because of it. Harbaugh being a better coach could negate a lot of it, and it those disadvantages don’t explain the lopsided record against OSU in the past two decades. I hope that I have appropriately both sided this discussion. Thank you for your time.
I hated The Big Chill, not because the self-absorbed boomers in the cast were so unlikeable, but because the scene where they watched the big game had Michigan State on the television.
No, that's not at all what happened. You guys made up an argument that Michigan was saying it passed on kids OSU takes due to academics based on some blog article that got posted. Nobody ever said that. So I pointed out that that's not what anybody was arguing, and you probably shouldn't make stuff up to argue about. It also clearly wasn't my argument. I'm not the guy that wrote it. I'm just the guy reads things and explains them to people who don't understand. Then you started in on the academic smack with you general studies stuff, which I responded to the absurdity of.
Michigan fans are such deluded idiots. It’s really honestly sad. “Jim Harbaugh said it and John U Bacon wrote it, it must be true!”
The first thing I ever learned as a college football fan is that despite not winning a lot of national championships or anything really, Michigan fans think Michigan never lost a game. There were always crazy circumstances or injustices that occurred to justify the mediocrity.
The extent to which the the below quote is becoming true is sad because it doesn't have to be. At least for the top 200 type kids. UM had some really good classes under Harbaugh at first, but the trends the last couple years are going more and more towards battling ND for kids in the Midwest and Northeast who like school and football. And, for the record, I'm not saying that's entirely by design or whatever. I'm sure there are a lot of reasons for it, and blaming UM coaches for being bad or lazy at recruiting would be two of them.
That's a strangely broad brush considering I don't think a single Michigan fan on here has blamed the refs for any loss in recent memory.
Should’ve specified. Here is different, you guys are special :) But I was trying to be funny a little, It is a reflection of pretty much every fanbase.
Jim’s gotten whatever he wants financially, the only things that are left that he’s not going get -jucos-thats just an absolute no go at um because the credits don’t transfer, it takes super strange circumstances to get them in. -ability to take kids with off the field issues I do think Jim has not recruited a ton of minimum qualifiers but honestly that’s more Jim’s choice. Um admin discourages their coaches from taking them(rrod took tons of them and it pissed the administration) but goes by the big ten minimus and will allow minimum qualifiers in. Jim’s biggest failures at um have been qb and just general disorganization of the program.
We've lost 17 games under Harbaugh, outside of one call that was not crystal clear one way or another, we have not been a fanbase blaming refs for our losses, which was the point of my original reply.
