Dr Phillips area might be good too. Its by Universal and has most of the good restaurants there. Not sure if you can rent a room or something where Sub-Zero works but that might be a cool spot for a meeting if they do that.
We host events but not necessarily "rent a meeting room." Typically if you are going to have a meeting here you are also planning to have a group team building activity that involves playing tennis and its more of a corporate event. And even then availability is hard. But we don't have a straight room rental.
Just remembered that Drive Shack just reopened down the street too. Another good after meeting spot. (It's a TopGolf competitor/copycat)
Santiagos is massively overpriced. Orlando Meats is the best thing in that plaza and that whole area by miles. I am opening a restaurant over there though this spring/summer and I'll defend it even if its not the best like it is.
Is it though? If you’re drinking I don’t think it is. $40 for a really good good spread and unlimited mimosas/sangria is not bad. You go to any other place and order drinks and off the menu you’re looking at least $30.
$58ish after tax and tip for that is a terrible deal. Their kitchen is super gross too so I never eat there. Also Delaney Tavern hired away almost their entire kitchen.
Hey Mix I just moved from West Orange to right near Orl Meats etc. How can I get more details so I don't miss the opening. We'd like to support your new venture, brother.
I am because of HH points (free) and proximity to the parks. We stayed last hear and they upgraded us to a suite, so that was cool.
If you are staying there then I get it. I would rather go to Capa at 4 Seasons or Victoria and Albert's though if going for a splurge in that area.
My parents are staying at the grand and my sisters are staying at their own resorts. We our parents are treating us by buying our park tickets, so we thought the least we could do was get them a dinner at V & A. Got them a $1,200 gift card so they could upgrade, get pairings, tip, etc. I’ve actually heard about Capa. Will check it out.
So how are you guys handling going back outside? I don't know what to believe at all...so figured I would check this thread to see if anyone has a sense for Orlando's status or severity or anything else.
I've generally accepted that my social life is over until next year. We're not being given good information by the Florida government unfortunately. We don't have enough testing, we don't have contact tracing. I don't mind staying at home. I'll save money and buy a house.
i don't even know what's going on anymore with what rules are in place and what aren't. is there still a curfew? what's open right now? when can i take my dog to the parks again without there being a padlock on the gates?
I don't think there is a curfew anymore. At least me and my coworkers haven't been pulled over every other night like we were when there was one.
Pretty much everything opened against the order anyhow in downtown and its a messy place filled with dbags crowding into small spaces. Its going to be a huge cluster soon and its a bit terrifying.
The only place I have been other than work and the grocery store was the Mall at Mellnia for a few minutes, but it was creepy and no one was there so I bounced.
No curfew, restaurants can be at 50% capacity inside while still following social distancing rules. Lots of places are setting up tents in their parking lots to offer expanded outdoor seating. Some cities have closed certain streets at times to allow for more outdoor seating (Winter Park did this on Park Ave for Mother's Day). Barber shops/salons can be opened back up if they are taking precautions. Some bars are open, some taking precautions, some aren't. A friend went to Mather's the other night and said they were really on it with the restrictions, but they walked past a place that was packed to the gills, so like Mix said, it just depends on the place. Phase 2 is supposed to allow 75% capacity at restaurants and I think gyms as well.
Nailed it. Swiggs just openly defying the law along with a few bars on Orange and of course Basement. All shit places that should have their licenses pulled.
gideon's announcing a second location tomorrow I know awhile ago they were trying to get into disney springs, which is why they settled on the polite pig collab so maybe they figured it out to get it into disney springs
Thurstys Cookies is a small start up this girl is running out of her house and they’re unreal. You order through her IG page. It’s $12 for 4 cookies delivered.
All good here, the first wave passed just east of us. Second wave brought worse weather but no tornadic activity. How's things where you are? Several tornadoes around the area tonight reportedly.
I live in lake Nona and it's been a normal quiet night so I had no idea there was a tornado until just now.
Yeah everything came from the southwest, Orlando sorta caught the NE edge of it, missed y'all this time
Advent extended work from home for office workers to September 1 (unless you’re a real higher up) in Orlando.
So as I see orlando is one of the largest virus hotspots in a the country ... Where is it all coming from? Orlando is a fairly liberal city. But I also live in lake Nona which has a lot of medical workers (and thus I've seen way more masks than not over the last couple months). Just curious what is driving this up all pre-disney opening.
Uhhh you realize it's spreading like wildfire in Tampa, Jax, Miami, etc as well? Bars opened up like a month and a half ago, they're arguably the place most susceptible to spreading covid. People got infected at bars or other indoor places with close contact and subsequently spread it to wherever else they went.
