Sent g8r some samples, he had EHT BP, a Belle Meade Cask Strength Madeira finish store pick, and Legent. For those of you that don’t know, I have described my experience with Legent like drinking liquid asshole and burned hair. EHTBP and the Belle Meade pick are two of my favorites, I’ll let g8r describe his experience with them.
For comparison sake, I'm going to need to know how well versed you are in drinking liquid asshole and burned hair. Thx.
The after taste is equivalent to the taste in your mouth the morning after post drinking vomiting. My reaction was similar to dry heaving. To add salt to the would the after taste hangs around for a little while. I have no experience with the taste of asshole. I will defer to Detlef Schrempf there
https://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/news/2019/12/10/brown-forman-plans-louisville-area-expansion.html Stuff could happen... Brown-Forman Corp. has filed plans with Louisville Metro Government to expand its distillery on a 53.38 acre property at 2921 Dixie Highway — though many steps lie ahead before the project gets off the ground. The Louisville-based spirits distiller already owns the Shively lot where the expansion is planned. The property is part of the Brown-Forman Distillery complex. Many years ago it was called the Early Times Distillery, as it's home to the company’s Early Times Whisky brand. Jefferson County Property Valuations records show the company has several buildings there including warehouses and manufacturing facilities. The company declined to disclose how much the investment on the new construction. A spokesperson said it was too early in the process to tell. Brown-Forman plans to remove, either fully or partially, several existing structures on the property in order to make way for the project, the company said in a letter that was included with the filing. It also plans to expand existing structures and add new buildings, the total square footage of which, will be 48,864 square feet. Existing pavement will additionally be modified to accommodate better traffic flow and parking capabilities. The company letter states the expansion will not require any modifications to the zoning of the property, nor will hiring new employees be necessary. The plan was prepared by Curtis Petty, a landscape architect with Luckett & Farley architecture firm. The plans were filed preliminarily to facilitate the discussion and review process, according to Elizabeth Conway, a spokesperson with Brown-Forman. As a result, the company does not yet have a start date for construction. “The permits are not confirmation that it will happen but that it could happen,” Conway said in an email. Brown-Forman has several American whiskey brands including Early Times, Old Forester, Woodford Reserve and Jack Daniel's. It's one of Louisville's largest manufacturers.
So went and picked up the pappy, told the owner thanks and this was a good early bday present (tomorrow is my bday). Also picked up one of their Old Scout 107 barrel picks since I was getting one of their Pappys for $60. He then goes in the back and pulls out a bottle of Weller Full Pro and says this one is on the house happy Bday. Yep just got a customer for life.
Went to another liquor store in Glenwood Springs and found this guy just sitting on a shelf ($80 but still)
Don’t think I’ll get the willett rye since I have to fly back and I plan on getting more of a Denver OESK store pick on my way out of town
I was done with all my whiskey shopping in Japan and found a little store next to the hotel. Walked in and there were 3 Michter’s 10 Ryes sitting there. I grabbed one. I’m out of room at this point.
Went to this place on Sunday, it was overwhelming haha https://www.beveragewarehouse.com/search/?category_id=31
The liquor store near me got a barrel of Buffalo Trace that I picked up a bottle of last time I was there. I think it was around 25 for the small one. It’s got a little more spice than the normal stuff.
80 is pretty steep but i have defiantly seen it much worse. However, if you enjoy it that’s all that matters.
It’s below secondary and around what I’ve seen some stores sell it for through their raffle. It’s marked up, sure, but not a bad price.
I have really been enjoying store pick Buffalo Trace and Russel Reserve Single Barrels this year. Anyone else having luck with those?
That’s a great price, I got really lucky with one store and their BT pick was an 8 year. I prob bought 9 bottles total over 2 weeks also I have had a lot of luck with Blanton store picks, too. Probably have around 5 right now.
So I did a taste test tonight. 9 dollars for a liter vs 135 for a 750 T.W. Samuels has earned WillieHuff's Hobo pick of the week.
One of my stores sells wholesale to bars and restaurants around here and thats one of the "well bourbon" products for the bar. That TW samuels is very wheated/grainy but for nine dollars.... not bad!
my hot takes: Knob Creek is tasty Larceny is quite decent - especially for $21 Woodford and Makers are not good Blanton's is mediocre OF 1910 is good (thanks for the recommendation, thread) I enjoyed IW Harper 15 I get more excited about my infinity decanter than most individual bourbons
I need to retry larceny. I got it a couple years ago and was unimpressed for the price. $2 more for buffalo trace and $2 less for four roses that I thought were both much better.
This case is inside a liquor store, and everything good in here has a tag around the neck saying “Bourbon Bros. Not for sale”. It all bottles owned by some of their customers that are just being displayed here.
