I don’t disagree with that. Probably why it’s so apparent the shit job they have done building anyone.
its weird, it’s like they went so far into the “AEW is different from WWE” both in the ring and backstage that he is afraid to book himself as the top star because he doesn’t want to look like HHH booking himself into big spotlights
think there's something to this, after all smarks were already complaining about the VP's booking themselves to go over before the show even debuted
People on the internet live to bitch. I know I’m one of them. With that said Kenny needs to be treated like the fucking golden goose he is.
Kenny will get there. They're building him up as the under achieving nice guy now which leaves open a lot of story lines for him.
I watched AEW last night and they have problems. Everything is just mashed together and too many people are involved in different storylines. Cody is the hottest act they have, they don't need him in a midcard feud with a tag team that 95% of people have never heard of or care about.
Not here to shit on AEW because they have been second best weekly show to me outside of NXT. However, as an extremely jaded WWE fan, I was expecting AEW to really grab my attention. It hasn't really done so to be honest. It's not must watch tv for me despite me giving it multiple chances. I just watched NXT last night. I'll probably get aound to AEW but it's not like I was in a rush to watch it immediately after. To be fair though I havent watched raw or SD in a while so it may just my lack of wrestling interest in general lately, but I still tuned into NXT
I like AEW but they have glaring issues. No one cares about tag wrestling as much as they try to force it down the viewers throats. They also push a subpar women’s division while NXT offers the superior division. Also, the Dark Order blows. Fuck them.
AEW has way too many weird storylines as well. Dark Order, BBB, whatever the hell it is Brandi Rhodes is doing. It is like Dungeon of Doom 25 years later. Not that level of awfulness, but you get the point.
Way too many tags. I like one good hot tag match a night but when you have tag matches with actual teams and then you have random tags with singles stars, it is just way too much.
And Omega and the Bucks need to push themselves. They are different than what’s on NXT and they are clearly guys they can work as well, or better, than anyone on NXT. Them being mid card acts kills intriguing characters.
People gave me shit for complaining about Jericho as champ. But if they were putting on Omega v Cody or similar matches for the title I think they'd be in better shape.
Jericho served his purpose. He can do this same gimmick without the title. He’s bigger than the belt.
AEW needs a Paul Heyman. Simple as that. They just need "that one guy in charge" who can tell Kenny Omega "you're going to be our face." They need that one guy who can say "we have too many weird cults." They need that one guy in the room that oversees the creative decisions. It sounds novel to have the boys exchanging texts in lieu of a booker but they need a booker.
Agreed, I said this in the discord but we would be killing steph right now if she needlessly injected herself in a hot young star's first angle. The spooky stuff just not really working for me but I'll give it sometime I guess. I really don't think think her and statlander should have anything to do with each other at this juncture. I want to see AEW roster get a bit bigger and taller, get a few more female wrestlers and really refine their storytelling a bit next year. All in all it's been pretty good so far.
Cody has not had that problem, even though he booked himself to lose the title match and gave it a stupid stipulation.
While were talking about roster deficiencies he doesn't really have as many dance partners up to the caliber of NJPW guys. It's going to be hard for his matches to live up to their potential with just PAC there. He can only do so much carrying of his opponents.
Smackdown was actually entertaining from start to finish last night. Haven't said that in some time... Big fan of the females interacting with the male talent in storylines. Otis my man Otis.
I thought he left that gig a few months back... Probably the source of my confusion. They don't do enough to explain the character/character changes. Its ok to do more story development. Couple less matches, few more videos. Like what turned Brandy to this goth person? Why you cutting hair? Why is this chic an alien? They lined him up with Pac a few times. I don't think its the dance partners. They are booking him like a jobber. He's had multiple weeks without an entrance. Just in the ring waiting for the bell.
Sent $50, if there are still spots left for the women’s getting closer to the rumble, I send another $20 wrestling and gambling? My favorite time of the year
The Bucks deleted their Twitter accounts. It’s pretty easy to speculate the heat from their roles in AEW played a huge role in choice. I think it’s a bullshit move to just run from criticism, but such is life.
Listen I think social media is trash, but these guys loved it when it benefited them, and now that they are taking heat, at least one of them duck and runs. This is what happens when you are an EVP of a company and promise to change the wrestling industry. Triple H is on Twitter, but he doesn’t cut and run when shit gets tough and he definitely takes more shit than anyone online.
They never should have been so open with the setup to AEW and being EVPs and confirming they book the product. With that said I can’t really find much wrong with the tag division on AEW. It’s been the best thing they got going. You are right about them needing to stay in and take that heat. Even if it’s from a bunch of jackasses
ehhh. I would say they have given us a better RAW product. I think they wish they could be as good as NXT. Outside of a great live crowd they haven’t been able to put on shows the quality of NXT. And it’s pretty evident by the fact that have lost nearly 50% of its audience since they debuted 3 months ago
Imagine if HHH turned heel on Vince and merged NXTs talent and booking with AEWs presentation and cash flow?
JR going in on Steph about her “management” style. During his podcast was actually very interesting. Touching on Shane as well kinda confirming the rumors.
But just to add to it, Shane made a lot of money and then once it was clear that HHH was going to be the heir to the throne Shane decided it was time to move on to something else. Basically what we already knew but was interesting to hear it from Jr's perspective.
