I got into my W12 last week for the first time in a while, and had forgotten how good it is, even compared to other bourbons aged for 12 years. While at $100 the price is a bit high knowing MSRP, it’s just as good if not better than some other bourbons that MSRP around $100. Depending on my bourbon spending at the time, I’d probably spend $100 on it, so don’t feel bad or price shamed
oh I don’t feel bad at all - that stuff is delicious, so I didn’t feel bad paying that since I’d already tried it & loved it
I only bought a bottle bc it used to be amazing when I lived in KY. It for bought out. I was looking for something new to try the other day and the guy at the store even told me that the Bourbon or the rye was terrible. I was like hmmm how bad could it be, I'll try the Bourbon. It is horrible. Msrp is like 92 bucks. I ended up taking the bottle back to the store after two pours, not for a refund but so they could see how bad it was.
Also of note I bought a bottle of pure Kentucky the other day for thirty bucks just because I always see it on the shelf and have never tried it. It's BMH bad. Imagine if you put a tophat and monocle on fireball, that's pure Kentucky xo.

Can’t remember who was looking for the Oban game of thrones bottle, but I stopped by both of my regular stores and neither still had it.
Ran by a shop in Charleston and saw it on the shelf. Got really pumped then saw he was trying to charge $250 for it. Laughed and walked out. Got an extra chuckle when I looked at the guy and he had a gold cross chain around his turtle neck.
That’s word on the street, unfortunately I’ve never had it. I don’t fault HH, Sazerac, et all for milking this bourbon craze while they can though. I’m just not going to support it.

No jealousy, that guy is just the absolute worst. Just posted some Al Youngs at a $1k, which is 35-40% higher than they were going for before he died. He clearly just keeps all his bottles locked in a spare room while they appreciate, and he has the personality of a 1980s robot to top it all off.
I have major questions about that dude and some of the shit he sells. He has a ton of very old stuff and I’d be curious if there’s any less than verifiable stuff in his stash.

Oh he’s 100% in it as an investment. He’ll say as much. I don’t know if he even drinks bourbon. Most of the stuff he buys is discontinued and well over $1K per bottle. There’s an entire secondary group just called “Goyk’s Boutique”
I’ve seen him back out of several deals if any details on the bottle don’t line up, but just based on how big his collection is, he’s 100% got some fakes, whether he knows it or not.
