Not upset at all by moving on from Dorsey. Bring in Barry as GM, Stefanski as HC and Mike McDaniel as OC and I'm all-fucking-in.
Dorsey is great to inject some talent in a short period of time but he just doesn't have the vision to put together a long term winner. He totally mangled the salary cap here and left the Defense a mess and didn't give a single fuck about the possibility of bringing in a bunch of risky people might fracture the only team. Just applying names to a depth chart. Pretty good talent evaluator, just not a great General Manager.
I am still with McCarthy but honestly it doesn't matter who they bring in. They will fail and it will be the Tennessee grifters doing.
Sounds like at least 4 more interviews (Daboll, Saleh, Stefanski, McDaniels). I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s Stefanski. It sounds like he was the choice last year, but Dorsey overrode the decision and demanded Freddie be the choice.
The more I read about what a disaster Kitchens was, the more I have absolutely no problem with them running Dorsey.
yeah, I didn't know he was his pick until this week. Talked to more KC friends and they don't have great memories of him. Similar good start of boosting talent, but the long standing damage is burned into their brain. He was perfect for what was needed at the time, but now someone else can fill in his gaps.
I know that any football coach would chop off his foot in order to be one of 32 and be a NFL head coach. This time around there are candidates that have weight behind their accomplishments that are interviewing. It’s amazing what having NFL talent can do.
If Josh McDaniels is hired, would you like him to bring Tom Brady (contract will be up) along in a player-coach role?
I think Brady is about shot and that pretty much ruins confidence in Baker (Brady probably gonna blow up tonight now)
I do want the team to draft and/or sign a FA QB, I feel it could very well be the "get off the pot" year for Baker (though I still feel he is the one). However, I can see Tom (if he wants) in a asst. HC role. The team will automatically respect him and he could serve as the fire to the ice that is Josh.
I can’t imagine Brady going anywhere where he’ll have to compete for a starting job and you’ve got to let Baker at least take half the year snaps to see what you’ve got and if it’s gotten better with a new HC.
I do agree with sticking with Baker. BTW, Daboll is calling a hell of a game. I would not mind him getting a call.
if brady plays for a different team, and that’s like one of the biggest ifs in the history of the nfl, it most certainly won’t be for the fucking browns and the thought of brady becoming a coach is hilarious
I know a lot of it is bong water territory but Tom in any role here would bring credibility to this franchise and would allow Jimmy to get out of the way.
Graziano from ESPN said, "Based on the conversations I've had with people close to this situation, I'm watching McCarthy, McDaniels, Daboll and Saleh as the strongest Browns candidates, though the Stefanski candidacy remains viable and interesting." It sounds like everything points to this job being McDaniels to lose.
I hate how I do this to myself... I'm to the point where I will be disappointed if it's not stefanski and berry. I'm very nervous and skeptical about mcdaniels and zeigler/caserio. Dunno what to think about Saleh
I feel bad for you, I remember that stage. Now, I just know that it's the Browns and the worst case scenario is probably the most likely. I expect this hire to be no different than the last and we will be looking for a new HC in 2 seasons.
Schefter just said that Depodestas contract expires this week... So we will know real soon how much say he's gonna have
Daboll and Allen seem to have a good thing going. But my goodness that guy can’t seem to call a complete game
We’ve already experienced Daboll. Only guy that had been in Cleveland in a significant role that I would entertain us Chudzinski because I think the Haslam’s did him dirty.
the only hire i would feel even slightly excited about is mccarthy, and i don't even think he's that good of a coach. but he's at least proven and would bring some badly needed competence and stability to the franchise. zero confidence in any of these coordinator selections. this is a brutal job and needs a steady hand desperately
i would be good with McDaniels. I forgot he was only 33(!) when he got hired by the Broncos. Another near decade for the most stable/successful franchise and even if he brings 50% of what they do over there to Cleveland, it's a huge improvement over the last few years. He's also the most likely to get the direct most out of Baker. This is a huge year for him and the offense. Even if the defense were to take a step back, let that work out in the long run with good DC hires. You have to find out if the current QB is the franchise QB you need to start looking at contract numbers with. I mean he won a playoff game with Tebow....
