Don’t listen to anyone on Fast Money about the economy. The idea that an agreement announced in mid December could have any impact when details aren’t clear is ridiculous.

Just saw that the Golden Gloves are tonight. I hate Award shows, but lately the provide entertainment the next morning when snowflake conservatives bitch about the Hollywood speeches.
Whammy Here’s one of those examples of voter suppression that you claim is not actually happening and that it’s more difficult for blacks to vote because they refuse to put a modicum of effort.
Appreciate the tag. We probably still don’t agree on this, but my point was a little different. On the not actually happening piece of that, think you’re confusing me with talking head. It’s 100% happening.
There’s no confusion on my part, perhaps saying you claim it’s not happening is going a bit too far but you are downplaying. So I tagged you so you can see for yourself that this is not about poc not putting in the effort but more to do with poc being directly targeted by the Republican Party.
Yeah - it’s just that I can believe that Republicans are targeting POC and also believe that people can register with very little effort - the decline in the real number of whites is actually greater than AA (I realize the % are way different) so laziness is not really a racial feature. Has more to do with income People are lazy but registering is so easy for wealthy they are still able to do it even while being no more conscientious. Poor folks, disproportionally AA (Republicans know this), have a moderately more difficult time but could still do it. Y’all didn’t believe me when I said I don’t think POC are uniquely lazy and that I wasn’t dog whistling or whatever, but it’s true. The modicum of effort line was drawing a contrast between voting being moderately difficult and an entire gender no longer being stoned to death for voting. Not the same. It’s a pedantic distinction 24 hours later, but at the time was the crux of the argument. Standard mainboarding, sorry for the novel!
But you’re still doing the same thing you were doing last night, I just tagged you on something that specifically shows that republicans sought ways to minimize the black vote. They targeted the day that blacks tend to vote early and shutdown polling places on that specific day, but here you are claiming it’s just as difficult for white people, how can you come to that conclusion? It’s obvious that you have your mind made up and the evidence be damned, that’s the reason why people believe you’re dog whistling. Hell in your home state the previous governor passed a voter ID law and then shut down DMVs in counties with a black population > 40%. Of course he denied it being about race but once his affair came to light there were texts between him and his mistress, who worked for the state, where she suggested shutting those sites down to make it harder for blacks to obtain an ID. That happened in your home state, I live in Maryland and I know about it, so there’s no way that you don’t know about it as well. But despite all that you’re still insisting that it’s not a worse for blacks than it is for whites. Also no one compared women obtaining the right to vote to voter suppression here someone mentioned it because if the US is going to boast about women obtaining the right to vote in Iraq then they shouldn’t be working to make it harder for Americans to vote. In other words they were pointing out that the US, republicans especially, are not champions of human rights and touting that achievement is disingenuous at best.
Hey man - I think you’re arguing in good faith and second quoted point below has a lot of merit. But no matter how many times you say it, the above is not what I’m saying. The point last night was pedantic and nuanced (admitted in my post above), which is what we do here unfortunately. Will try again, then I’m done. Just want to clear the air. Poor folks, black and white, have difficulty with voter suppression laws like ID requirements because simple things like affording the $20 ID fee, not being able to pay a misdemeanor fine, not being able to pay child support, or something as simple as not having a ride are all barriers that middle and upper class people don’t face. Those things, in and of themselves, affect poor folks whether you’re a POC or not. The racist part comes in when Republicans enact laws that, in and of themselves arent explicitly racially dependent but nonetheless affect POC disproportionally because they’re disproportionally poor and therefore disproportionally face barriers. This is done intentionally. From the research I’ve read, things like the above form the vast majority of actual voter suppression vs. closing a DMV in a single county in Alabama or NC. Stated unequivocally last night that and the NC example are wrong and must be punished. Again you’re reading this thinking it’s a stupid distinction, but in the context of last night (Iraq comment), made sense. Because even if you have to get a ride (modicum of effort), still not the same as a woman facing death to vote. Yeah and I know you hate both sides arguments, but here it comes. It is disingenuous for some Republicans. But there is nothing wrong with a soldier being proud that his efforts gave women in Iraq the right to vote, even if there’s an unhinged party doing isolated explicitly racist things (NC & Bama) and some electorally strategic, implicitly racist things. In WWII, some of our soldiers undoubtedly committed war crimes but did that stop Nuremberg or stop us from celebrating our accomplishments? No, it’s not comparable to the big thing that happened. Similarly, giving 50% of an entire nation the right to vote isn’t comparable to closing down a DMV center in a rural county (where most likely very few people live) or requiring people to show a drivers license to vote. I’m left, vote left, but I get weary of our side tearing down the really big, good things we do because we also do bad things that, relative to the real human rights violators of our peer nations on the world stage - China, Russia, etc... - are not comparable. Hope that helps, even if you disagree
“Slightly” lol The snark really is unbearable and also intellectually lazy. This was all in context of last night. It’s ok to celebrate ourselves and be self-critical without being miserable cunts all the time and making everyone else feel miserable too (and losing elections because of it). Good night, it’s past my bedtime. Will see what’s going on in the AM.
I was giving you the benefit of the doubt, because being ignorant on a subject is not a problem, but you’re not just ignorant on the matter but you’re willfully ignorant and are determined to hold on to your opinion despite evidence that proves otherwise. This is not just happening in NC and Alabama, so please stop that bullshit, and fuck off with that both sides bullshit despite evidence proving otherwise. This, “you guys are the reason Trump won” nonsense, is the cherry on top, fuck off with that bullshit.
People are lazy. Thats why GOP have incentive to be the heartless cunts that they've become. I stand by it and would say it to their faces. Lobbying and unlimited money has ruined our country. Things wont get better until massive changes are made. Its sad an almost 80 year old is the only one with a track record of any convictions.
We should be helping them, majorly, but of course we have to redouble efforts in Iraq because of our piece of shit
