Boas are pretty tame right while anacondas are batshit. Think I got that right from my current youtube snake addiction.
I don't think the red-bellied black is one of the three most venomous in Australia though. Inland Taipan has to be top three and IIRC may be No. 1.
Correctamundo - the red bellied not only isn't that deadly (I'm not sure anyone's ever died from its bite) but it's generally pretty placid too. The Tiger and Brown, though? Stay away from those nasty fuckers. I'd put the Tiger just below the Black Mamba in terms of being constantly in a state of pissed-offness.
Getting concerned about Chandler. You're obviously amazing with snakes but why are you putting yourself so close to taking a bite if anything upsets them. Not as crazy as Dingo who should probably be dead by now.
Chris Sweet is a good insta follow. He’s got some of the most beautiful king cobras I’ve seen and just about everything else in between. Viperkeeper also has a really good YouTube channel.
Actually just finished watching this before I opened this page. What he does amazes and terrifies me at the same time. I've gotten hooked on his channel
I like this guy too, not flashy like chandler or will but very Informative https://m.youtube.com/user/venomman20
Anyone here keep Western Hognose snakes as pets? I'm interested in owning one as a pet and would love some tips/knowledge.
Ive never kept them, but they’re really easy. Unlike eastern and southerns, they naturally feed on rodents so there’s typically little issue getting them started on pinkies.
Not bad for my first snake of the year. Second snake was a large rat snake maybe 2-3’ out of the picture.
Norjani, a snake charmer from Toho district, Mempawah regency, in West Kalimantan, reportedly died on Saturday shortly after performing with his king cobra. A short video posted by Instagram user @ndorobeii showed how the venomous snake bit its owner several times on his hand and forehead. The man, however, looked “amused” at the biting and laughed continuously. He even purportedly rejected the first aid offered during the show, which took place at around 4 p.m. Only two and a half hours later, Norjani felt pain all over his body. He was then admitted to a nearby clinic for proper treatment but it appears to have been too late. "He died [in the clinic]," said Toho Police chief First Insp. Dede Hasanuddin on Monday. He added that Norjani had been buried by his family, while the 5-meter-snake was killed, kompas.com reported.
Make sure its well established on pinkies before you buy. Some have trouble starting to eat due to their diet in the wild.
I’ve never seen an indigo snake in the wild even though I’ve don’t a lot of tortoise surveys That snake is as majestic as any other creature on the planet. It’s a shame it’s photographed under those circumstances though.
I've seen one in Escambia County. It was in the Conecuh National Forest, where they reintroduced them, so it wasn't wild born. Do you follow Dr. Steen on twitter? He's a great follow.
I don’t have Twitter, but he looks like an awesome follow. You should follow Jim Godwin on Instagram if you don’t. He lead the indigo reintroduction projects and is arguably the lead biologist in the state.
Pine plantations are mostly loblolly pine as they are the fastest growing southern yellow pine species. They have a very different effect on the overall forest ecosystem than longleaf
Obvious choice for No. 1. I'd never go near one of these things, but if I did and the 4:50 mark happened I would shit my pants.
Man I flat out hate snakes. They make my skin crawl. But I kinda felt bad for that one. He just wantsf to go into the woods and ole boy kept stopping him.
So this was probably 15 years ago. My buddy was working on getting his venomous snake license. He was working with a cobra on a table with his trainer. All of sudden he said it felt like someone shot him in the leg and it moved his leg about 2 ft forward. He looks down and sees the gaboon along the side of the cages. In the meantime he’s got a cobra right in front of his chest so he’s trying not to panic so the cobra doesn’t bite him also. He starts telling the trainer that his gaboon bit him. The trainer is like WTH are you talking about. Trainer looks down and sees the gaboon. He grabs the cobra and bags it quickly. Then moves my buddy and gets the gaboon. Turns out the sliding glass on the gaboons cage got off the track slightly allowing an opening for it to get out. So my buddy just starts saying I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die. The trainer is screaming he’s going to jail. Then he starts taking his clothes off. They start the clock on the bite time. They’re in Ocala and nearest antivenom is Miami. He starts pumping his leg as he doesn’t know exactly where he got hit and then notices it around his ankle. He marks the red mark on his leg and keeps marking it as time passes and it gets higher and higher on his leg. He said his leg is on fire. They look down at the clock and notice it’s around 15 min. My buddy is like I feel fine considering and by now he should have been in a serious health condition. About this time he looks at his shoes and pants and there’s venom all over it. Here’s what the think happened. They just feed the gaboon the day before. They think the venom crystallized on the fangs. When he bite my buddy when fang didn’t go through the boot and the other pierced his skin. Since the fang was crystallized that part got in him and all the venom came out on the way out as to why it was all over his pants. He still has the fang of that snake. After that he said he’s done and doesn’t want to get his license after being over 900 hours into handling venomous snakes. Pretty crazy story.
But you have to feel like a lucky bad ass surviving that situation. For the parents that read this and know what the Lion Guard is I told him I was going to call him Bunga since he’s immune.
Australians are a different breed than us. I wouldn't go within a mile of that cranky son of a bitch.
I love snakes and think a lot of venomous snakes are extremely cool, but fuck, there's just no room for error when dealing with those things. A snake having a bad day could mean a quick, painful death. All those YT and Instagram influencers free handling venomous is just nuts.
