So I should go back and grab another buffalo trace. Forgot all about it. I agree with pperc15 about birthday bourbon. I will revisit but unimpressed so far. MWND is rye maybe that is what threw you.
Opened the WB Saffell and wanted to compare it to the Private Barrel Russell's I have. Very very Similar. Slight lean to the WB Saffell just bc its a little bit sweeter right when it hits your tongue. Both a have a nice WT funk at the end.
What’s retail on a 6 yr? I assumed there really isn’t a standard since they are all separate picks mostly.
“Retail” was prob a misnomer. My girlfriend got me a 7 year WFE bourbon from a liquor distributor for $110.
Anyone ever have Kentucky Owl Confiscated? $125 dollars with like 5 on the shelf- guessing it's a rip off.
My Louisville run was mostly disappointing. Nothing in the "must buy" category for myself (I was extremely picky). I was able to grab cheddarisbetter a couple of bottles. Timing was off trying to find allocated bottles
I’ve never gotten anything except a couple interesting store picks when visiting bourbon country. The demand for/awareness of good bourbon is so much higher down there.
I’ve never seen anything in Louisville but store picks, I’m down there a lot. Same thing with Newport Ky Lexington and Ashland have been better
i bought it to get points in a rewards program, paid $120 for it, if it was a $50 bottle I think I’d really like it. The problem is it’s not a $50 bottle.
Finally got a full proof today, and completed my Weller vertical. Going to crack the full proof here in a week or two when I have some time to really enjoy it.
I’ve never been lucky enough to buy a premium bottle for a fair price. This morning, that changed. My local store released its allocation in a snow storm. I will drink these and not sell for a profit. I’m fucking pumped.
Had the stagg 12 batch at read house hotel bar before the lookout wild film festival. The 12 and 13 aren't that far apart. I'm not one to drink liquor out and about and usually stick with beer. Tremont is usually my go to up the street
bought a Dickel BIB and Rebel Yell 100 (it was $23, so couldn't resist trying) Like the Dickel but everything they make does have a funk to it. RY100 was surprisingly decent. Very spicy. Both made interesting additions to my infinity bottle.
It was actually donated to me to put into a raffle/auction for a fundraiser so I won’t be drinking. What is typical value with this?
They probably purchased it for around $60 retail. It doesn’t go for too much over that on secondary. Good luck with your raffle!
Thanks. My cousin set up the event for our family when my wife was diagnosed breast cancer in early December. Event is tomorrow. Got that, Blanton’s, Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig store pick, Knob Creek store pick, Woodford store pick, Woodford Double Oaked, Detroit City Rye and couple others slipping my mind. See what comes of it
