We're starting a foster on Tuesday. It's both of our first time with a dog so we figured that's a good place to start. Pray for us lol

I had to take our 1 year old goldendoodle to the emergency clinic today. She was at the groomers and all the sudden started crapping herself and shaking and fell over. She couldn’t stand up without falling and her eyes were going nuts.

The doc said she thought it was vestibular disease but from googling around that doesn’t seem to make a ton of sense. It explains the instability but not the poop. Kinda explains the throwing up in the car (dizziness) but....

    Anyone have any ideas?

When did they start? Is there a trigger to them or just random?

she’s had them all her life. There really wasn’t a trigger that I remember. We have her on a medication that attempts to control them. We just have to keep her calm and not let her overheat. They are scary as fuck but honestly it would be extremely expensive to run tests and they might not even know what causes them. The default is doggy epilepsy so that’s what she is treated for. We’ve just tried to give her a calm peaceful life for as long as we have her. She gets Phenobarb 1gr every 12 hours.

Agreed to dog sit for a friend w/ a chihuahua puppy.

Friend is bit of a disaster, frequently arrives 1-2 hrs late to meetups, says she’s stopping through in a couple mins and turns up days later, etc...

Have had the dog since Thursday evening, yesterday was suppose to be the last day, but friend went radio silent and hasn’t responded to any calls/texts. LadyPokes is working herself into a frenzy.

Cherry on top: the puppy isn’t potty trained and has been pissing all over our rugs.

TLDR: I’ve somehow started fostering a dog against my consent

So my son thought it was funny to tease my dog with a large piece of muffin hanging out of his mouth. I have told him repeatedly to not tease the dog or try and take her food. I hope he learned his lesson.

Your wife probably cried hysterically that her boy was hurt, and you were probably like serves him right. At least that's the way I am with kids, lol.

She had already left for work for the day so I didn't tell her. He goes to his dads today for the weekend so I'm hoping the little mark on his nose heals before he comes home. But yes. I was thinking it serves him right. Him and the dog play great all the time, but I have told him repeated to stop agitating the dog especially when she has food and he won't listen. Maybe he understands now.

the 6 year old loves doing stuff like this with my 1.5 year old lab, he loves wrestling with her too
he has been hurt/ brought to tears by her many times, but he keeps on doing it

makes trying to train and calm the puppy down hard, but im sure there relationship will be awesome to see in the years to come

Been forever since I posted ITT, quit my job in May to come work with the wife on the company she started in 2017.
Been balls to the wall since then trying to grow the company and still doing work with Pixel, the rescue group.
Just finished 4 days with Pixel at VMX, the big vet conference here in Orlando. I had been planning it since last July, and the conference was Sunday through Wednesday.
We supplied the puppies and the cats for the convention this year, and i'm fucking exhausted.
But got to spend 4 days with some awesome pups, so it was worth every bit.
Unsurprisingly, this girl was the star of the show.

Any advice on house training? Miles is mostly ok but doesn't give us any indicators we've been able to see he needs to go out so we've had a few incidents

If he’s a puppy, you can’t wait for him to give you a sign. Take him out every 30 min to an hour and make him sit or pause at the door before going out.

Shelter we're fostering from thinks he's about 2-3 but he's been in a kennel and a stray before that so we're having to do some remedial stuff. Also if anyone here is in/near Denver, Miles is super chill and needs a forever home.

Also this being my first long term dog in my house, aside from dog sitting a 12-year old dog a few years ago, I'm amazed something that weighs 200lbs less than me can be so fucking strong.

He's pretty smart though; after two days he's already learned he's not allowed in the kitchen area.

We got Tosu some frozen bones while at a meat market. He will chew/lick the stuff on the outside, then go out back and bury the bone. The last couple ones we got him, he'd take it from out back to the front, then outback, then to the front. This last bone he has kept in the backyard for a few days now.

A couple nights ago we heard him barking, so I went out to get him and could hear some raccoons or something in the bushes. Now Tosu wants to be outside non-stop to make sure those raccoons don't get his bone. We've had to make him sleep in his cage the past 2 nights because he won't stop trying to go out back and barking.

We're either going to find the bone and throw it away, or move it to the porch and keep it in the front.

The puppies I previously posted went to homes this weekend. 9 weeks old. I did end up keeping one. 3 of them left yesterday, and the last 3 didn't seem to mind much. But then the other two left together today and my guy is heartbroken. :( He was out in their dog pen they had all been staying in together for the last month, all alone, howling up a storm. Poor guy. :tebow:

But his mom and aunt are still around, plus all the other dogs. Crate training starts tonight.

Yeah. We believe they're purebred. Have the dew claws on the hind legs, there spots will fade some over time. We suspect some breeder dumped the two older females for some reason or another. Allegedly there was a male that got picked up around the same time, but never laid eyes on him. The one who didn't have the babies got spayed and had all the worms including heartworms. The mama will go in soon to be spayed and probably figure she's got all the worms in the book like the other did. They'll both have to be separated whole treated.

So we thought my 10yo shepherd mix Sisu just had a fatty cyst on her face next to her ear, but it kept growing. Doc confirmed today that it's solid, may be cancerous (biopsy suggested cancer but did not make a definitive conclusion). She's having it removed in a few weeks. Biopsy cost $37 and surgery will cost about $600. If she were human, $637 wouldn't even cover the office visit/consult

Yeah we have one. I don’t even recall the cost, we put the wire in ourselves so it was significantly cheaper. If I recall that labor is like 80% of the cost.

edit, yes it’s worth it. I have two large dogs.
