Adam Schiff deserves better. All of this will be for naught but he's laying out evidence alongside video of previous testimony and clips of Trump saying dumb shit that all supports the need to call witnesses and have a real trial. If this country had more politicians with integrity, something would come of this.

I agree. The goal was never remove. That was never on the table. The hope was that McConnell do exactly what he did, which was do everything in his power to make this go away. The smart play would be a showy trial where they went through everything and still voted the way they are going to vote, but that would have bothered Dear Leader. Numbers for removal, witnesses and an actual trial are pretty good, so now you have a bunch of R's heading home to campaign after thus and having to answer why they didn't do what they were voted in to do. I know everyone thinks there are no consequences, but this could spell doom for a number of R's, simply because Trumps ego needs constant placating.
