45-50 F is my favorite temperature to run in. During the summer time here in Birmingham we have to run either before 8 AM or after 7:00-7:30 pm, or risk heat stroke. The humidity is devastating.
Drizzling to me is the best. Maybe even a light rain nothing too bad. Like I’ve said before there is something so freeing about running in the rain while everyone else is trying to get out of the rain. I guess it reminds me of being a kid and playing with my friends in the rain while the adults looked at us as if we were crazy.
Not a fan of temp colder than 60 unless I’m running a race or a hard workout. That’s too cold for just easy regular run. Hard rain is pretty rough to run in. Light rain is nice. Morning long runs 10+ miles when temp/heat index is over 85+ is rough but is pretty normal requirement during summer training. I’ve never run in snow/ice, I’d imagine that could be tough. - 2cents from a Florida native
workouts like this in midday summer heat builds character, as long as you can avoid heat stroke: https://www.strava.com/activities/1101534384 1:30 PM on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 El Rio trail of hot death. 3x1mi intervals Heat Index 105. Temp 91 F, Dew Point 77 F distance 6.09mi time 53:02 pace 8:42/mi lol I haven't done something like that since
Going to do the Steamboat Half in June, will be my second half and am going to properly train so it goes better this time.
my fav are Balega's Hidden Comfort and I get very excited when I get new ones https://balega-socks.implus.com/products/hidden-running-socks/ bonus - if you get too excited you can just use the sock as a multi-purpose tool
I have a bunch of dicks gift cards and used them on socks. I have a few pair of balegas that have survived
I’ve upped my sock game recently. Grabbed some Zealwood no-show merino wool off Amazon and I’ve also received some calf-height merino wool from Tracksmith (expensive af, but amazing) as a gift. No longer will I buy peasant socks.
I’m sick of snow. Don’t mind the cold but yhe snow and ice pushes me to the treadmill. I never realized how mich the treadmill sucks, but it’s awful.
Im running outside in almost any condition over treadmill. Have you tried the Yak trax for running in the snow?
I’ll be that guy. I felt the same about threads until I ran on a Peloton one. Instantly made me want one bad. I’ve only ran on one 3 times but it was amazing each time.
Ordered two pairs of these the other day, both arrived today. Now I have 3.5 pairs (dryer ate one sock a couple years ago) which is perfect with the increased training I'll do for the half in the upcoming months.
Hoping someone here might help as I had something new happen today. I bought new shoes but same version of what I’ve been wearing. Did 5 miles today and about halfway through the tips of my toes started tingling. The entire day the bottom tips of my 3 middle toes on both feet have been tingling. I’m not sure if circulation might have gotten cut off while running in these new shoes or what. Any ideas?
Weather? Could have been cold, I have Raynaud’s syndrome which causes my digits to turn white and tingly (core overcompensates for the cold and moves blood to the core).
That was my first thought but they’re the same size as I ordered before. I did just notice that I thought it was the exact same shoe but it’s a different version that looks exactly the same. I’m guessing they’re made slightly different.
Was decent yesterday so the whole family went to the track and we came up with the idea to run a family relay where everyone runs a lap and we will try and improve each week. Was fun and nice to see everyone cheering for each other. I’m last so not looking forward to having to beat the time.
I’m irrationally excited about a trip to CT next week, solely because it looks like it will be in the 40’s and I have a good running course close to where I’m staying.
Three weeks into Marathon training, first two weeks speed work was pretty easy ( 800s, 400s etc). Today? 5x1 Mile repeats. REALLY jumping here in difficulty coach. Not feeling it.
I did it fellas: 1.5 warm up 1st mile: 5:55 2nd mile: 5:58 3rd mile: 5:57 4th mile: 6:00 5th mile: 6:14 ( v hard) 1.2 cool down There might be more posting/humble bragging ( or the opposite if my workouts suck) to hold myself accountable/help with motivation.
Fecta I used to do 6x1mile workout from the Hanson’s Marathon Method. Loved it. IIRC, they had me do it around 10k pace and 0.25mi jog in between. What do you do in the recovery between intervals? Keep sharing those badass workouts.
Ha, my coach is part of Hanson's team. I took a 3 minute standing rest in between each workout and these were at goal 5k pace.
