I’ve talked about it before but we have a bourbon group of about 10 of us that get together on the second Friday of every month. The host provides the bourbon and everyone pitches in $20. Usually host does one feature bottle and then a handful of just solid bourbons. Really excited for next months, it’s one of our guys that has an incredible hookup. He going to do a Weller line up of the SR, 12, and full proof for the featured bottles. I’m excite.
Sometimes. Not sure what the plan is for this one. I’ve never tried the Weller 12 or full proof so I’m pumped to get to taste those.
I've seen the Russell's Reserve mentioned a few times in here. Is it both versions that are good or just the barrel proof
I'm pumped, would you consider the store pick single barrel significantly better than the regular version?
I think it really opens up with a couple drops of water. Fantastic pour for a widely available bourbon.
Welcome to the Dickel Haters Club. Now imagine you were super excited about the BCS 15 of last year except you paid 230 for flinstones vitamins.
I feel like anything that high proof requires it to get over the heat overwhelming. Before I’d add drops of water to every glass of scotch/whiskey but after indulging in the higher proof stuff I don’t need to for anything under 95
Total Wine here has a store pick of that - I’ve been tempted by it, but not sure since it’s $55 or so
I have to try it again. I don’t recall exactly what I thought other than I wasn’t blown away in that moment by it. I recall thinking it was solid, but I also realize sometimes it take me a few drinks on different days to come to a conclusion.
For you Japanese aficionados, made the following trade this week: traded away: Nikka 21, Nikka 17, and Old Fitz 9 for Yamazaki 18 and Hibiki 12 this gets me the Yama 18 I’ve been coveting (still want to find another) and a hibiki 12 to hold onto as trade bait in the future. Had backups of the Nikkas and the 9 yr.
That was a steep price to pay but kudos for getting your most wanted bottle. The Nikka 21 is delicious but no match for the Yama 18. Never had the Nikka 17 or Hibiki 12
