I loved my wake-up routine: Alarm > dismiss > temperature > calendar list for day > queued up morning news a couple minutes from BBC News, Bloomberg, etc. Continues on until I ended (killing via notification swipe on phone) after I got to the end of the truly newsworthy updates and topics of interest. Got married and my wife didn't like it so its canned for now. So simple, but yet a nice start to the day. Tbh, I feel less informed now.
I have a few of those I've installed though I got the one that had a one USB C and one USB standard. Put one in each bedroom, kitchen, office and work bench
Radon level is 5.4 In the house we are under contract for Worth worrying about and trying to get the sellers to fix?
I don’t know anything about radon, but found the below in about 2 seconds on Google. So, yes, I think it’s worth worrying about and having them pay for. “Radon levels are measured in picocuries per liter, or pCi/L. Levels of 4 pCi/L or higher are considered hazardous. Radon levels less than 4 pCi/L still pose a risk and in many cases can be reduced, although it is difficult to reduce levels below 2 pCi/L. The EPA estimates that a radon removal system costs about $1,200 for an average house.”
It’s probably just me, but I think getting a system to remove a cancer causing chemical (regardless of who pays for it) is a good idea.
Lol look at this pussy afraid to live in a house with colorless, odorless and tasteless gas that might kill him.
Anyone have any hooks to hang bikes on garage walls they like? I've looked at plenty, just trying to see what TMB's choice is.
I have this and it does what it’s supposed to do. The hooks will annoyingly fly off sometimes when putting up and down but have yet to crater my skull so I guess 3/5 stars. I think I saw some reviews where they did slight mods to prevent that aspect, but hasn’t been enough of an issue to pursue yet. 51 in. 6-Bike Storage Rack 2.0 https://www.homedepot.com/p/203985661
I'm behind so not sure if this was addressed. At the end of the day you're paying the payment not the interest rate. FHA appraisals are also much stricter.
Yeah, when I bought my house last year I remember the inspector mentioning the fact my stairs to my basement (split entry) didn’t have a hand rail might cause issues if I wasn’t going conventional. Same thing mentioned about my garage door because it has a dent/crack in the front from someone hitting it prior to me owning it.
Finally finished #blessed tough to get a full pic so I did a little panoramic. Sink is not curved and I can tell a bunch of tiles got fucked up in the pic too
ooh. S hook on the towel rack as a robe hook is clutch. I will be looking for one now that matches our hardware since we don't want to scuff the walls anymore than necessary.
Haven’t posted in awhile but check this occasionally. I have an accepted offer in our current house to sell, and have an accepted offer on a house we are purchasing. Had the inspection on the house we are buying yesterday and of course, the furnace malfunctioned. From the report...”The furnace did not function properly when tested. When turned on at the thermostat, the draft inducer fan and blower would come on simultaneously. When the burners ignited there was excessive flame rollout. After the flame rollout occurred, the burners shut off.” He obviously said this needs to be addressed right away. The furnace is 18 years old and he didn’t come out and say it, but it sounds like it should be replaced. HVAC guy is looking at it tomorrow for his recommendation. How hard should I push the sellers to cover the replacement cost? Split it? Our realtor said they aren’t obligated to do anything. As I understand, even if we pull out of this deal to purchase this house, we still have to sell our house, as I believe we pulled out the contingencies on our offer.
Whether you have to sell depends on the terms of the contract. There may not be any formal contingencies, but that doesn't necessarily mean you don't have another way out
What do you all think of the tile pattern for the shower and floor. I've been trying to decide which way to go. I prefer something more natural but, in the end, I'm remodeling this for the wife of the next owner.
Finally hired a maid service and they came for the first time today. Highly recommend, money well spent. House feels incredible. Old house, hardwood floors, I couldn’t of gotten this deep clean in a week and they did it in an afternoon. Amazing.
we got a new cleaning service coming next monday. had the fire the last one. a monthly cleaning crew is well worth it.
I guess this is the best place for this. Alexa has been randomly chiming in for a few weeks into conversations. Yesterday I said something about an up down orientation. She chimed in left right, left right. Made me think of the old contra code on the NES. So said that to her. Cute response. 6 out of 10. Would do again.
Success! Works like a charm. Still need to add the sound bar, and arrange the cables, but after a week of bedrest, following ankle surgery, good to get a win. And in time for the Super bowl.
For you technically challenged ITT who are looking for easy mesh wireless to put in your home. Time actually has a review and coming in at third for $180 is TP-Link Deco Whole Home system. It’s three access points, says it’s easy to set up. Good performance. Shit at $180 I’d give it a spin. You could get two 3 packs for less than the Eero solution. March Edition of Time page 52 if you’re interested. FIL is out of town, we collect mail and the wife shared this with me if you’re wondering why the fuck I have Time magazine. Edit: Apologies, it’s Consumer Reports! Sorry dude got like 3 magazines and I only saw the Time when I picked up.
trees are incredible. I still drive by houses I used to own every now and then just to look at the trees that I planted
Putting in an offer today on (hopefully) our first home. Hopefully we'll be joining you guys in here soon.
I've planted five trees since I bought this place and the thing I'm saddest about is I won't own this place long enough to see them grow up. First one started to bud today. Sakura cherry tree.
Nice! I was about to respond to your previous request for advice post (sorry didn’t realize I hadn’t) and say make sure the chimney isn’t damaged (leaking smoke) before too much time passes and get them to pay the tab if you have to reseal it.
really like the gladiator system, used it in my old house, one of the first things I installed in the new house and putting more in the basement
have a black locust we're taking down this year too, its full of borers and drops legit widow makers that are rotting out and too big for me to prune. Planned to try and save it but when its down we'll be able to do some raised been gardening with the sun light on that side of the house. Was sad as well when we decided to bring it down, but excited about what we can do next everything I read says black locust should be avoided in your landscaping, that helps too
No problem. We have a lamp that needed them. I was as clueless as you were when I went to replace one.
Be careful on those... I bought some of the cheaper leds on amazon, and they didn't fit right. Probably would have known had I read the reviews closer
