Slightly more violent version of the series finale of Lost. If you haven’t seen that one either, first of all don’t watch it, and secondly just imagine All Dogs Go To Heaven ending but with robots
Do we still have people that read that "Origins of Consciousness in the Bicameral Mind" book and break down its applications vis a vis the show?
What a letdown that season was, completely lost me. And I really liked the whole concept, I was so disappointed. I would be willing to give it another shot if it was easily available but I don’t see it on hbo canada. I won’t make any effort to watch unless I hear incredible things about it.
I think it just goes to show how hard it is to consistently live up to expectations and stick the landing. Lindelof just happens to be on another planet in terms of adapting other people’s work. He took a throwaway joke about Mark Linn Baker from Perfect Strangers pretending to be a part of the sudden departure and somehow turned that into a final season plot point. Then he turned around knowing that hardcore Watchmen fans were gonna bitch about stuff either way and entirely subverted what everyone thought about these heroes and made an incredibly salient point about race in American along the way. Vince Gilligan is really the only other guy on that level right now. All that said, I really hope Westworld returns to form but I worry that they’re already leaning into the same tropes. The revolution came and went.
The biggest thing I remember from S2 is that Anthony Hopkins appeared in over half the episodes, which diminished the ending of season one and most of his arc. And it’s not just Westworld, there’s a trend in TV to seemingly kill off big stars and then bring them back immediately. If you want to bring back Ford once or twice then that appearance has substance. Otherwise, you might have well just kept billing him as the star of the show. The way to kill off a character imo is how The Shield killed off two guys who I won’t name in case anyone wants to check out an amazing show that’s incredibly under-appreciated. Those two deaths impact every single event that followed them for the rest of the series. That’s how Ford should’ve gone out.
I was digging s1 and had no idea wtf was happening in s2. I will start off watching s3, but it will be a quick pull if it continues
been watching s2 on hbo all day akane no mai and kiksuya are incredible episodes in a season that was completely fucked out
This is definitely 1 show you can't watch unless you have 100% attention towards it, couldn't do it tonight
lmao at Marshawn's after episode comment: I'm looking for something I can blow some shit up in and Dolores riding that motorcycle my god
Visually impressive but it’s departed so much from what it was/what made it great that it’s hard to feel very invested or care much about any of the characters.
this is what i came away thinking very entertaining and i’ll keep watching, but nowhere near the show it started as i have to reset it’s part in my brain to forget season 1
Assuming he’s gonna play a bigger role in flash backs, but Aaron Paul’s friend that was “calling” him and dying in his flashbacks is Kid Cudi.
That’s a far greater indictment of the storylines becoming so convoluted and going off the rails rather than it is the setting itself.
felt like multiple black mirror episodes that ended up joining at the end of the episode (the WW ep, but like 1/3-1/2 way through a black mirror story). I liked it but like others said this is almost a new show altogether. And Pinkman is a big downgrade from Teddy.
Sorry I haven't read thread, but is season 3 worth watching so far? Might pick it up with the wife during quarantine
Only the first episode is out thus far, aired on Sunday. Just finished and I definitely have mixed feelings that are in line with others saying it's like a whole new show but I think I'm in.
I have zero clue what happened in season two and dont want to go back and rewatch it all. That said, watched the first ep of S3 earlier this wk and was thoroughly entertained even if I didnt understand it all
