if the season ended today Bama would have their highest ranking in the KenPom standings since the end of the 2011-2012 season seems like if Bama fans can be patient with Oats, they're going to be a very tough team in a few years
I don't know what to think of Oats. They were picked to finish 5th or 6th in the SEC, make the tourney, and have talented players we recruited hard. Yet they look to finish 9th, miss the tournament, and missed on pretty much every top recruit they went after in the early signing period. They did seem to improve drastically on offense though. I guess we will have to see what he does to improve the roster for next year.
All true except we have also regressed dramatically on defense, even pace adjusted, which is important to note. Also, long term, if we don’t recruit well next season I’m not sure how long he can survive even if we do make the tournament. And regarding KenPom, if we lose to Mizzou, which would not be shocking, we will probably end up in the 50s or possibly 60s where we have been for about half of the last decade. So pretty much same old shit as far as results, just higher scoring.
Its hard to get a good read on how much of this season was Oats and how much of it was playing with ~7 scholarship players for a good portion of the year. Pretty sure we had double the amount of games missed by players due to injury as the next highest team. Throw in the fact that Avery left us with absolutely nothing in the post and the deck was somewhat stacked against him Excuses aside, we lost some games that are just inexplicable. Oats is going to have to clean house on some of the scrubs we have (reese, galin smith) and go actually land some recruits/transfers this offseason. Ill be more inclined to make a judgement on the guy after seeing him coach another season with a team who presumably has more depth if for no reason other than simply having ~9 healthy guys on the roster. The jury is definitely still out on him as a recruiter
Refs really outdid themselves to end the half. Think we had about 5 foul calls in the last 20 seconds
Players know when they foul and when they don’t. Need to institute the rules of golf to make it called correctly.
Imagine being 24-5 and losing to a .500 team at home Wow shameful stuff maybe don’t have a religious zealot pedophile as an assistant coach SUCK IT #Auburn Tigers
Well we’ve won 24 the same way but also contributes to 6 losses. No elite ball handlers allows defenses to pack the lane since there’s no shooting threat from outside.
Seems like ATM’s defense was confusing us all night. I think we have a couple of good ball handlers, but we suck at attacking when pressured mid court
I missed the game due to a work dinner. Saw we were down huge at half in my phone and didn’t look again til now. Was it that obvious how tight it was called against LSU? Good to see Tim Donaghy found work again.
Not all of it. It was really streaky in the first half. A lot of fouls early then nothing till half. In the second half, especially the final ten minutes, is when it got obvious and stupid.
Mason Jones drew about 15 fouls tonight. A good 8 of those were y’all intentionally fouling the final 8 mins or so in the 2nd half when we missed like 10 of 16 FT’s and started making a run to get it down to single digits I won’t lie it was definitely called in our favor tonight pretty badly. It was gross.
This LSU team Is so Jekyll and Hyde but we don’t foul, turn the ball over and let teams out rebound us.... Until we’re up by 10+ then we do our best to let them back in. They’re good enough to streak far in this years tourney but the past few weeks team is what we will see in March... leading to early exits in both the SEC and NCAA tournaments.
Big win for Auburn on the road at Tennessee. Pearl continues to own the Vols. Third straight 25+ win season for Auburn.
Much needed win at Vanderbilt today. Oh wait. Well at least there’s always baseball season? What’s that you say? Fuck. Football? Fml
Nice choke job #Florida Gators. Up 18 with with 11:48 to play, no Hagans, Quickley fouls out with 9:04 left. lmbo
Ironic how the play that cost Kentucky a game last year against LSU that changed the rule on video review for goaltending ends up getting Kentucky the win today.
not sure how UK wins that game but I'll take it. kinda concerned going forward with the Hagans drama, but I think UK can secure a 3 seed with a couple of tourney wins
We are same. Kentucky gets a 10+ point lead every game and always gives it away. Don't think UK has blown out a team this season. In addition to the Evansville thing, I'm guessing that's why their computer ranking sucks
