My wife ran a marathon on Sunday. I was giving her a massage tonight after the kids went to bed. (Oil, naked, foreplay...just another Tuesday night.) I look up midstroke and see my older one at the top of the stairs. No idea how long he was there. It’s gonna be a dry March at the jbr crib.
He just turned 5. Mid massage stroke. I had my clothes on and was rubbing her hamstrings/butt/hips. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Not ideal, but could have been way worse.
After thinking about it, I chose to leave the ambiguity in the post. Maybe a little reckless on my part. I apologize for that.
My wife tried to disappear in the carpet, I went upstairs with my kid where he showed me the puddle of puke on his bed, I got him washed up in the shower, and my old lady cleaned the bed.
so we are a week away from a 3 day weekend in Highlands NC without the kids. I haven't slept past 6:00 AM in over a year so I am ridiculously excited.
1st awesomeness was when my kids no longer needed formula 2nd awesomeness was no more diapers 3rd awesomeness was no more daycare best awesomeness was no longer needing to get up and make the kids breakfast on the weekend.
She got accepted. I'm so excited and thrilled. The school is also at most a couple of miles from the house.
Great idea. We are at Old Edwards with one more night to go. Number 3 arrives in 4-6 weeks, so dropped off the kids with grands and headed up to the hills. Slept until 10 this morning didnt know that was possible anymore.
2.5 year old woke up this morning and wouldn’t really eat or drink anything, not totally out of the norm but enough that I took notice. Then she started saying, “my body hurt” which is first time she’s ever said that. Couldn’t tell anything was wrong but within about five minutes she was screaming in pain, couldn’t stand up. First time anything like this happened so we hop in the car and go to the urgent care by our house. Long story short, she is really constipated (which is kinda crazy since she pooped yesterday) but the kid does eat a ton. She’s never had constipation issues before. Damn, though that was the first time having her in real pain and me having no idea what was going on. What a helpless feeling and would have done anything in that movement to make it go away.
I need help, TMB. I have no idea what to look for in a stroller/car seat combo. Outside get ones that work together. These choices seem daunting. I'm having a boy in 4 months. We've bought nothing.
we got a Britax travel system that we like: Britax B-Lively Travel System with B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat, Raven | One Hand Fold, XL Storage, Ventilated Canopy, Easy to Maneuver
I don’t think it really matters. They’re all pretty good these days. We got a maxi cosi brand stroller, carrier, car seat combo and have been happy enough with it. Still use the stroller but our daughter is now in a bigger car seat.
Congratulations. I haven't compared in about 5 years but we have done Britax for everything because the safety rating was the highest. They have a metal frame which is a bit heavier and is good or bad from a safety vs. carrying comfort/convenience standpoint and also slightly higher price.
We just had our son two weeks ago and went with CityJogger Select for our stroller and Chico Keyfit 30 for a car seat and then got an adapter that allows it to fit in the stroller. We’re happy with both so far but spent a little more than typical on the stroller since we live in town and have dogs so we go for walks every night and wanted a stroller that had better control and should hold up longer. I’d go to Buy Buy baby and push some around so you know what your comfortable with. The wife wanted the Uppababy Vista originally which is a $900+ stroller but after going there and testing them we realized the CityJogger gave us what we were looking for without the leather handles and other more aesthetic upgrades.
Despite my best efforts to the contrary, we ended up getting a Bob stroller. Also picked up a Britax adapter for it. I was able to stave off the Uppababy and we bought used so that saved a ton of money. Congrats. We’re also 4mos out and expecting a boy. Hope everything’s going well.
My kids are really into dinosaurs right now and love T Rex the most. We are watching Land Before Time and they are looking at it like the sharp tooth (T Rex) dinosaurs are the protagonists. My older one almost started crying when the T Rex dies in the beginning and my younger one keeps asking “when will T Rex eat these babies?”
I know exactly how you feel and was in your spot a year ago. There's fifty million fucking choices and you have no baseline to determine what is actually important. Get ready to argue with your wife too, it's stupid the things you'll butt heads over. First goal is to figure out what you want from the car seat/stroller, then your budget. The newborn/infant car seat will only be used for like 3-6 months so don't stress out too much about it. All of the car seats meet a minimum safety rating and from there it's aesthetic and convenience features. Once you have to break down the car seat to wash vomit out you'll see it's just a plastic shell with some fabric wrapped around it. Most newborn/infant car seats seem like they do this now, but make sure you get a car seat that has a detachable base so you can just pop out the car seat and and attach to the stroller. Incredibly convenient and helps when the kid is sleeping -- you will want to maximize any nap your kid is taking. If you can swing it and it makes sense for you, I'd buy two bases so you don't have to fuck with swapping between cars. Also make sure your car(s) have the anchor clips (metal loops between the cushions) because that shit is so convenient when attaching a car seat that has the clips. Do not buy a used car seat. The stroller is something to think about and it's worth it to go to Buy Buy Baby (or something similar) and test out the floor models. This is a great chance to see all the car seats there too, btw. Are you going to only have one kid for awhile? If you think you'll have two kids that are stroller-age at the same time, you probably just want to buy the bigger models at the start. Do you think you'll take the stroller running or on non-paved surfaces? If yes, you'll want strollers with larger wheels that don't swivel but in all likelihood you'd probably end up with the regular stroller and a running one (we ended up buying a used BOB running stroller). How big are your vehicles' trunks? Some strollers don't fold up as easily or as neatly as others. Make sure the wheel lock is easily accessible. Check how easy it is to steer and maneuver the stroller around the store. You're gonna find yourself in a lot of crowded areas and having a nimble stroller is great. As others have mentioned, buying a used stroller is a great opportunity to save some money. We bought a Nuna Pipa car seat and the Uppababy Cruz stroller, along with the adapter for the Nuna car seat. My wife liked the Nuna car seat more than the Uppababy Mesa. I liked the Uppababy strollers because they seemed more solidly engineered. I wanted a car seat and stroller that were easy to get in/out and fold up/etc. Definitely on the pricier end but yolo. My kid has since outgrown the Nuna Pipa and now we have a Graco Platinum XL convertible car seat that's permanently installed and should last her until she's done with car seats.
Cool thx. Def started looking at some Bob's on ebay and will check consignment stores. I like to walk a lot, mostly road/side walk but think it'll be a good thing to have. One Park is about a half mile away too and another is closer. Wife really likes the Doona car seat. Seems like a good thing and easy. Def need to try all this shit out. But in a weird time crunch along with covid19. Yes, love the fights over perceived dumb shit she wants to buy that I perceive totally unnecessary. Like do we need a $35 onsie that'll last 3mos that's magnetic vs a pack of 4 for 10 buck
For simple walks on paved surfaces, any stroller should work fine FWIW. It’s when you’re actually running and on non-paved that the running strollers shine. something my wife does is just fill up the online shopping cart at Carter’s and buys things when they go on sale and clearance — which is frequent I’m told. Don’t spend a lot on every piece of clothing, they’re gonna outgrow it fast and piss/shit/vomit on it a lot.
I hate running, so that's probably not gonna happen. I walk about 15-20mi a week in a good week. Worried the basic stroller would break down
We got a few of the magnetic onesies as gifts. They are money when you’re delirious and have to change I diaper at 3am.
Yep. never had a magnetic onesie but once we figured out that zippers are waaaaay easier than button we abandoned all button clothing.
Yeah but they are also like 10x the cost. I feel like OK good, but we can't have 20 of these and they are gonna blow out if em constantly. Maybe get some key ones for sleeping and use normals other times
Snaps and buttons are fairly similar in annoyance. There’s just so many of them and you’ll mis-align them all the time. Also your kid is probably going to be wiggling. For sleeping I would recommend getting 2-3 of the HALO sleepsacks.
I've got soon to be 3 month old twins. We've got the Baby Jogger City Select which we use with Chicco Keyfit2 car seats (w/ adapter). The City Select stroller has a ton of configurations in how one can use a car seat vs normal seat vs bassinet. We like that stroller a lot but are about to buy a side-by-side and are getting the Zoe Twin+ this week. City Select Zoe
Kid got hand foot and mouth on Friday, March 6th, he’s been home with me since, then Covid closed the state down ten days of daddy time, I’m starting to get real cabin fever my ten month old is also bored af
15 minutes ago I’m sitting in my office (4th bedroom) which is across the hall from my oldest’s room. I hear him open the door so I tilt to the side to see what’s up. He proceeds to take two steps, pull down his drawers, pee in the hallway, pull up his drawers, and go back to bed. It all happened so fast that I just gave him the Alonzo Mourning huh_ok.gif. Worst part was using some very precious Clorox wipes to help with the cleanup.
