the transportation industry is about to come to a halt within the next two weeks if i had to guess other than emergency or crucial shipments air, land, and water freight
My insurance company just told me they won't be covering this. I don't know what I am going to do. Have two small restaurants and they are my only source of income.
The lady I had been kind of dating freaked out that I posted the Oklahoma corona virus hotline phone number on Facebook.
Parent company told all 65k of us to work from home until April 14! Crazy town. We’ve got 125 here in Bham and it was like the last day of school. Folks grabbing monitors and hand sanitizers on the way out.
In process of pushing out our policy to initiate WFH too crazy times - this year will have an asterisk in everything In my memoirs I think I’ll title it The Quiet Spring
I was also told to work from home starting Monday. That they stressed there is no indication anyone in the organization is known to be personally affected put me right at ease.
Very happy I decided to keep the kids home today after my son was sniffling. I now feel like absolute shit. Post:like ratio in permanent marker on my chest. Godspeed.
just realized a lot of sports will not have a champion like the world war years. In 30 years looking up previous champions, 2020 will be blank obvious, I know
That’s not happening. Int’l is going to be slower with delayed transits but everything will continue moving. Only thing that’s going to slow it down domestically are businesses that are deciding to close which is going to delay deliveries but that’s all. Residential will continue as usual. China shipments have some pretty heavy surcharges right now but the planes are still flying. No changes currently in Italy. If anything changes it will be sales, marketing, solutions, etc working from home while ops, couriers and customer service remain on the job.
Hopefully the actions being taken now have some effect in slowing shit down. Sadly we won't have a fucking clue be the federal government completely shit the bed. Lots of people are going to die because of them. My grandmother started chemo last week. This week my aunt said it was silly that everything was closing down.
Notified to work from home until 3/30 and they will re-access. A manager on my floor has been out sick this week and got tested today for COVID-19. Not sure of the results.
i wasn’t speaking from the residential standpoint you’re right there i work in logistics and ive talked to 30-40 of my customers today and only one said they weren’t closing no matter what
Drinking weakens your immune system, you want a strong immune system during a pandemic. https://pubs.niaaa.nih.gov/publications/10report/chap04b.pdf
For those looking for guns, I have a nice selection of rifle BB guns that I will put on the market. They may not be deadly but they sure as hell sting pretty good and look the part! Bidding starts at $500. I’ll even throw in a bucket of BB’s
Had a coworker come in late on Tuesday. Tested negative for flu and strep she said in an email. Has not been back to work the last two days
Serious question for some of our IT posters. Can our internet infrastructure handle all of these folks moving to VPN style remote access? I assume so but hadn’t really thought about that. We are beta testing it starting Monday.
the internet is fine, connections to your company may not be. I put in an order last month to double bandwidth on all of our VPN and customer facing circuits.
My sister flew in to see my mom at her memory care facility and we got here today and they changed it to medical personnel only since there was a notated case in this county. There are 55 people over 70 with at least dementia so that's definitely for the best after what happened in Washington. Just sucks for my sister but she's a flight attendant so she got right back on a flight back home.
I'm on the "essential personnel" list so no stay home for me. If this gets bad enough whoever is on shift at the time might be stuck there indefinitely.
