These press conferences are hilarious, Trump and Pence continue to get blatantly called out on their lying by reporters
Re: hospitality/service industry/entertainment - as previously posted here buy the gift certificates - support the places that are adopting carry-out/delivery models (though obviously there's a risk there) - I've seen announcements from venues I frequent that show capacities are being reduced, and in the case of a spot I frequent in PDX that has a lot of tabled seating, they have gone ahead and reduced the density of that - removing some tables and spreading things out more generously
Bussers/Servers not making tips we don't see mitigated by postmates though. Servers not being able to do bottle service in Los Angeles and Vegas is a massive hit to the industry.
I mean this is super dumb and trivial in the grand scheme of things but I’m canceling my maid service for the foreseeable future but will continue to pay the small business operator as if they came.
Please don’t propagate this nonsense. Confirmed cases =/= total cases. You guys can’t complain endlessly about the lack of testing, then turn right around and use only positive tests to “confirm” doomsday CFR projections. It’s gross and deceptive and you know exactly what you’re doing.
My takeaway was that the health care system is past the point of no return barring major changes in technology and treatment. Basically “flatten the curve” is delusion and the best way to survive and keep your family safe is to isolate as much as possible and take every possible precaution when you do have to go out in to the world.
Hey I’ve seen you post and think you’re pretty sharp but you’re off here. Please read this with an open mind.
Thread is moving fast, but I frequently see smoking and air pollution cited as key factors in mortality. What about the obesity/heart disease endemic to our nation? Isn’t it reasonable to expect that to make Covid a lot more dangerous for young folks in this country?
50% infection rate and 1% morbidity gets you to 1.5M dead. Also, there may be several spikes over the next 6-9 months. The medical professionals itt can speak to how likely it is that multiple spikes happen. idk
Every 10 minutes I think of something new this is gonna impact I think the suicide rates are going to skyrocket as people realize they aren’t going to be able to pay their bills, and as people are stuck in their homes for months with nothing to look forward to
Morbidity also spikes in events of overcrowding of hospitals. South Korea has 4x the per capita hospital beds that we do and institutes aggressive containment and is still tracking at .7% morbidity.
The workforce board for LA City requested funds to support 23,000 dislocated hospitality workers last week. Make sure you are connected with the work source Centers near your restaurants so they can get resources to your staff when its needed
I can confirm that in NYC people are out and about and carrying on per usual. Don’t notice any difference at all.
Damn. That is a tight spot. If I were you, I would stay home (you can blame it on your asthma). At the end of the day, you have to be responsible for yourself and your family /loved ones.i understand the pressure to continue to show up and work, but if you get sick, even though you will make it through, you unfortunately might infect someone who might not. I vote stay home
We are all agreeing to gain weight and not fat shame right? Locked in our houses with nothing to do but eat drink and watch Netflix, it’s gonna be bad
My wife just had a similar talk with me about that. “You already ate half the food and your stomach is hanging out of your shirt while you lay on the couch watching tv! Don’t use this as an excuse to be a fat fuck!”
No idea, but his administration has been way ahead of other states and the federal government. We cancelled the NCAA tourney attendance before the NCAA did. We cancelled all school classes before others did. He has our hospitals talking to each other and the Cleveland Clinic is leading the group on test protocol. His response has been great.
My five year anniversary is Monday, so I am going to give her the whole six Spoiler feet of space - love doesn’t conquer social distancing
I was being sarcastic at the end. We’re fine. I ate 2 boxes of Cheezits and a thing of Oreos since I got off work yesterday . She was giving me shit because that is a bit extreme. Enough about me.
Dewine’s policies are worse than Kasich but he’s a hardcore technocrat. He wants a state that works at every level. So his trusting doctors and doing exactly what they ask shouldn’t be a surprise
