Not sure if brought up, but cannabis should be legalized as soon as it is feasible. Instant boon to the economy.
maybe the last time the airline industry was saved by our tax dollars they should’ve been more financially responsible and not bought back their own stock
you really dont ever interact with people left of center at all do you except in passing when you can't avoid it on this here website
lol no one is elaborating, everyone is just throwing wild shit around like it’s going to work without explaining anything
No one who isn’t an idiot is seriously calling for them to fold. They’re saying they’re in this position because of their own recklessness and there needs to be serious strings attached to any money that goes their way while similar payments are also made to workers to help them get by.
Maybe we as a nation should focus on bailing out people first, we should try that at least once and see how that works instead of having the federal government bailout private industries for the 3rd time in 20 years. It sure seems as though bailing out these companies leads to them getting lazy and constantly expecting a handout instead of going out and working for it.

giving the airline industry billions of dollars to rescue them from the mess they’re in because of their own greed isn’t something I and everyone else left of center are cool with
lol dude you are a terrible hard ass. you can’t meme your way through an argument. use the ignore button if you want
Bitch I'm entirely too pretty to fight. I'm as soft as jello, somehow there are people out there that are shockingly softer. In your case you're just shockingly stupid. You literally came in here and started boot licking and caping for an industry that put itself in deep shit. Why the fuck should we give them a damn thing? If it were us we'd be homeless and the goverment wouldn't give a fuck.
for the record you didn't quote anyone and responded directly after people were hoping the government would MAYBE focus more on helping citizens first before bailing out multi billion dollar companies lets not pretend you were just agreeing with posters (like me) that said strict regulations on an airline bailout was reasonable be clearer, won't seem as tone deaf when you fire it off without responding to anyone directly
you can do both! its a crazy concept i know. but helping people out in the meantime while securing future jobs after are both important. really weird how that works how many posters have talked about their mortgage rates? their retirement accounts? it is all part of the same system
Add more to the conversation if you can, please! And tyfy eventual service when shit hits the fan where you work.
Banks defer small business and consumer loans and the payments go on the back end. maybe big corporate bailouts should be loans this time instead of bailouts. Save them , but expect some repayment when it’s stable
Right but we never do anything to help actual people and here you come riding in to go to bat for the trillion dollar corporations as if they need you or your steed
This is terrible, but also...they were taking Americans job! Now unemployed coal workers can hit the fields.
Excellent correction, you understand basic grammar, but you still haven't explained your stance. Please go on
I think this is kinda the Trump thread, too now, so you’re just gonna have to scroll past when these tangents pop up. They’re unavoidable.
crying about people being mean to big business after people say CAN WE PLEASE THINK ABOUT PEOPLE FIRST AND BUSINESS AFTER then immediately swerving your argument to agree with that take when people give you shit for bootlicking leads to confusion communication is key folks, use your words, this is all one big long term relationship we got here
my point was more about enlisting the army corps of engineers to build emergency hospitals, assigning every defense contractor in the direction of building ventilators and medical equipment. Use the world’s literal biggest enterprise in an agile fashion.
Maybe just that we're constantly putting corporate interests over people so saying things like, "Hey guys what about the poor irresponsible trillion dollar airlines who did nothing to secure their long term stability? Let's make sure we take extra care of them" makes you come off like a boot licker idk
We can do both, but we never do, it’s almost as though we should learn from history so that we don’t repeat it and end up right back where we are. See republicans have this thing where they fight to get the legislation that they want/need and then not following up on the part that helps people, because socialism is bad. Fortunately for republicans there are people like yourself willing to chastise others for having the gall to want the needs of people to be addressed first. Perhaps you should be as passionate about individuals being helped as you are about Warren Buffet getting bailed out, yet again.
what do i need to explain? how hard is it to conceptualize all the jobs that are created by say the airlines industry. that’s a huge fucking sector. literally millions of jobs. you just want those companies to crash? what are those millions of workers going to do? replacement companies don’t just pop out of thin air and fill the void bail them out, but structure it so it’s not just free money. let the industry regain its feet without cratering so people can get back/keep their jobs ban buybacks? limit bonuses? these are all things that can be done. but you can’t retroactively impose those things on the industry now that it has crashed. that’s not how it works. but that can be - and should be - how it’s regulated going forward it’s not that hard to comprehend. and none of that has to affect any assistance from the government directly to citizens, which should happen too because people are going to be fucked by this one way or another
I’m a fleet manager in SF and last week we had to separate the passageway from the cab to the back part of all ambulances to try and isolate the virus to only the back. Cops are fucked. I can’t see them putting anyone in the back of their car. I know of many emergency responders that are currently in quarantine bc they likely were contaminated by patients already.
Like I just don't know how any normal person can waltz into a thread like this, where people are fucking dying from this thing and hiding in their homes and immediately start talking about "PLEASE WE HAVE TO THINK ABOUT THE AIRLINE COMPANIES AND THEIR OWNERS" and not expect people to jump on them. dallasdawg The fuck is wrong with you?
the middle class is in tatters, we shredded most upward mobility levers that still existed in '08 when everyone lost their houses, now we're going back into a recession (probably) while the same lower 50-65% of the country has no real wealth it's going to be really really bad if the fed doesn't give robust incredible stimulus
sometimes I talk about movies I like when I’m not watching them too I’m watching the plot against America currently but holy shit 2 fast 2 furious is art
Then fucking say this from the beginning and lead in with the bottom part first, and no one would've jumped on you at all.
