So far I’m full 5 I have been outside for less than ten mins in the last week and I don’t feel like I’m missing a damn thing
3/4 Work (health care system in non-clinical support role), home, store and maybe once a week hanging with friends in a same-sized family whose kids pair up with ours and are observing similar isolation. It's our safe house, if you will, and a last ditch effort at controlled socialization. Neither family is socializing outside that circle and none of our kids leave the house. Related question: Has anybody's hunter/gatherer instinct kicked in? We're not hoarding and would never take more than a couple of any items. In fact, I've given things out if my cart to total strangers who've stopped to ask if there was any left. But between the wife and I, we've done multiple stop-ins at random stores to get a pack of buns here or a can of soup there. It's weird. She works at home 90% of the time, anyway and if we have to go out for any reason, we figure the trip is wasted if we don't add something. Again, we're not hoarding and it's not like we have a bunch of any one food or paper item. It's just been a really strange instinctive urge that we both acknowledge having felt.
An Iranian health official announced on Thursday that one person in the nation is dying from coronavirus every 10 minutes. Health ministry spokesman Kianush Jahanpur tweeted the statistic as infections and the death toll continue to rise in Iran, which has been the hardest-hit nation in the Middle East. “Based on our information, every 10 minutes one person dies from the coronavirus and some 50 people become infected with the virus every hour in Iran,” Kianush Jahanpur said, according to a translation by Reuters. Iran has confirmed more than 18,400 coronavirus infections and its death toll reached 1,284 as of Thursday, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. The country has the third-highest number of cases and deaths, trailing China, where the virus is believed to have originated, and Italy. China has recorded more than 81,000 cases and more than 3,200 deaths, while Italy has documented more than 35,000 cases and almost 3,000 deaths. Iran reported 149 deaths on Thursday in its biggest single-day rise. On Wednesday, 147 deaths were reported in the nation. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani defended the nation’s response to the virus, saying officials “spoke to people in a honest way” and “had no delay” after some criticized the government for a lack of transparency. The U.S. banned entry from foreigners who traveled through Iran weeks ago as Tehran began to struggle with the virus.
4. Not going outside the house for anything except walks where we don't approach any neighbors. All food is being made at home.
Kinda of cold and rainy in Maine today. I have not much to do but play Red Dead. Conference call for my department at 4 that I do not need to speak during, gonna pop open an imperial coffee stout and not pay attention
COVID-19 kills 1 Iranian every 10 minutes, About 50 Iranians are contracting Coronavirus every hour, says Health Ministry spokesperson https://thehill.com/policy/healthca...-every-10-minutes-one-person-dies-coronavirus
Lacking the language here.... But is it proven that more exposure (like hospitals) to it will lead to a more serious case of the virus for a particular person (like a nurse)?
“Dose” is a thing when it comes to severity of many illnesses. I don’t know that it has actually been demonstrated with COVID-19, but there has been speculation that it does.
found out my youngest has a peanut allergy so broke quarantine for a trip to the pediatrician and CVS. pediatrician had a tent set up so anyone showing COVID-19 symptoms wasn’t brought in the main building at least.
I hate that this has evolved to where I am in a position to weigh the impact of rumors from Drunkle Tom from internet’s friend’s brother’s brother in law’s best friend (think that’s precisely the relational description) no offense Drunkle Tom of course, it’s just the principle I’m lamenting
None taken. I also was unaware that this was a text chain rumor that had been going around. This thing is moving faster than the Trumpocalypse thread so it's been hard to keep up.
I’m saying it doesn’t look like a person’s hand-drawn strike-through and thus I doubt the accuracy of the tweet.
You’re also losing out on potential retirement contributions during that time and guess what else happens! Time doesn’t slow the fuck down. If a family lost $6,000 in March, that’s $6,000 in lost lifetime wages that could just be supplemented by the federal government. Plus those loan payments that don’t have to happen that month don’t just magically go away. They get tacked onto the end of the loan and accrue interest in the meantime.
lol that you couldn't put money into your 401k for a few months. I'll be interested in what they do with the loan payments. Non-interest bearing balloon is the option that comes to mind immediately. Tons of people already have them from loan mods.
This is a dumb but serious question I have if they do in fact send out check to Americans. I'm a renter who moved six months ago. How does the gov no where to send my check? Is there anything I can do to make sure they have my up to date address?
I’m saying it’s possible that someone altered the photo. Not saying who would have done that. I’m also saying that maybe the President is a great drawer of strike-throughs. I lean to the doubtful side of the fence. What do you believe?
I believe the Washington post photographer posted a normal photo. Look at his twitter. Jesus Christ here it is verified by various news outlets
But there’s one more major point in the HHS report that has to be discussed. The points above have been paraphrased, but on this issue … this is the exact language of the report. “Supply chain and transportation impacts due to ongoing COVID-19 outbreak will likely result in significant shortages for government, private sector, and individual U.S. consumers.” Read that again. The Department of Health and Human Services is predicting significant shortages across our economy. Over a period of 18 months. And that’s probably the biggest reason this report is stamped “Not for public distribution or release.” *gulp*
Sorry, I don't buy into "We have endless money!!!" line of thinking. I'd rather see our resources spent on people that truly need it. Make sure everyone has enough to get by for the next few months if we're shutting shit down and then make sure there's enough left to help the people that need help at the end of all of this. Giving a lot of people pay raises during a crisis doesn't seem like the best use of resources. Not trying to derail the thread again. I got quoted so I responded.
I was 5. Now I’m a 4. I have done curbside food from a restaurant where I stay in my car. Trying to go to Publix 1 time per week. Going on walks but not getting within 20 feet of anyone on them.
Probably Ivanka or Jared that did it for him. He cant read for shit and the only thing he probably remembers how to write is his Signature
LOL at all those people tweeting the same doctored photo as if it is real. Do you always argue extensively with everyone who has a different opinion than your’s?
You are matching the money to a month. The money will be needed for longer. It’s not going to keep coming. Expenses and lack of income will. Do airlines and banks only get money for one month of needs?
The bill says payments will be made "each month of the crisis." It's not a one time thing. It's $6k for every month of the crisis for a family of 4.
Being the wash post WH photographer is probably one of the most prestigious jobs for a photographer in America. And he is just photoshopping shit willy nilly!
