So link to the starving people on the beefed up unemployment insurance..........or nah? You're just being cunty towards an obviously good solution because it doesn't go as far as you want
Why is it so hard to admit that $70 is immensely more affordable than $500? Yes, it wouldn't cover the most extreme (the current ACA doesn't now), but would be a vast improvement and a good 1st step the executive branch could take before further legislation is passed. With Congress out, there may not be much more help on the way so seems like an obviously good idea. Don't get the opposition to it.
nothing about “purchase insurance on the exchange when you’re poor” is a good solution and exposes the fundamental flaw with America’s healthcare system I hope this helps
You're acting like tens of millions of people have $0 which isn't the case when you're collecting unemployment insurance, especially not that it's been doubled for alot of people. Your argument against the Hillary band-aid was based on a strawman. I've already admitted it's not as robust as a fully socialized plan, but why let tens of millions go uninsured for the sake of one million?
This isn't a debate about the system at large, everyone know's its fucked. Support Medicare for all, et.al. Why spit on tens of millions for the sake of principle? Makes no sense
i enjoy this tangent because it got started on a dumb as hell tweet that shows hillary(and/or her comms people) don't even understand how the ACA or health insurance in general works her tweet is nonsense
Link? Educate because as I told Mr Tug I don't believe that given the new unemployment insurance. Like, if that were true we would already be in the Purge.
remember when the government mandated that insurance was a necessity but then fined people who couldn’t afford it because I do
Do you not realize that most Americans have less than $1000 saved for emergencies and there were 3.4 million unemployment claims last month? People shouldn’t have to choose between food and shelter and “affordable insurance” What is your fucking problem
“Here’s a service that should be provided for the masses for free that you get to pay for with money that you don’t have that will cause you to pay more money you don’t have if you use it because of its skeleton protections and absurdly high deductible. You all should be celebrating this.” — you ITT. Unaffordable is unaffordable. Doesn’t matter if it’s slightly out of range or way out of range, especially in an environment where people are losing their jobs quicker than at any time in American history.
I wonder if poor or unemployed people would rather have COBRA insurance at $700/mo or the cheap insurance they can’t afford because even though it’s $70/mo the deductible is $10,000 and it doesn’t cover prescriptions hmm
The whole thing got started by the tweet below and whether allowing tens of millions of unemployed people to seek out insurance is a good idea. Apparently offering this is a bad idea because some people can't afford it even though many will be able to. A bunch of Dem states who run their own exchanges have already done this unilaterally which I think speaks to the fact that it is objectively a good idea. Unfortunately about 2/3 of the states have their plans administered by the Feds, which is why Cheeto needs to get on board ASAP before pushing for something more robust via Congress.
??? A bunch of states have already done this, it would certainly boost the ranks of the insured, albeit imperfectly
oh okay well relatable hillary is wrong and this shows how out of touch she is with what people not only want, but what they need
Its a completely tone deaf tweet that doesn’t address the fundamental issues at play, which is, of course indicative of everything Hillary does. How do you not understand that?
Her tweet is nonsense because if you lost your employer healthcare by being laid off you're eligible to sign up as it's a qualifying event.
Ya know guys - a simple "Yes - more people would be insured, but it doesn't go nearly far enough. We should push for a much more robust program like lowering the Medicare requirement to age 0." Would have agreed and saved us all alot of time
There’s going to be a lot of pearl clutching on this one. Republicans clutching their pearls unironically: Bernie wants to politicize the COVID-19 pandemic to force his socialist agenda on the country. centrist clutching their pearls: Bernie wants to give billionaires and millionaires $2K a month. He wants Democrats clutching pearls: Bernie wants to force people off their private insurance.
For that use case, yes. But alot of people choose to take the penalty or choose the Marketplace over their employer-sponsored plan though, choices which many are probably reconsidering Cite: https://www.vox.com/policy-and-poli...mp-enrollment-affordable-care-act-coronavirus
love to totally drop the mask. it isn’t about costs. we can afford free college and m4a and all of the supposed pie in the sky ideas from bernie. it’s never been about the price tag. it’s about keeping poor people down and inflicting suffering on as many as possible. if you ever thought otherwise you are a complete mark and dumber than bertstare
I'm guessing virtually no one is paying $70/month for insurance that covers virtually nothing while they're out of work.
I think a $7000 deductible and 75% copay sound spectacular. Plus I don’t even know where you would get a $70 plan — I got the bare-bones plan in Cali several years ago and it was $200 a month.
Gotcha - must be different in Georgia then. I'm paying like 180 for a silver and I only qualify for a small portion of the credit
Yeah, I’m sure it’s more expensive here because most things are more expensive here. Problem is that it’s a chunk of change and not very helpful to the people that need it most, which is why you were getting jumped on. Some insurance is better than no insurance, but for many (especially those whose only option is to buy that insurance) it’s just another bill that they won’t be able to pay.
braved the Petri dish of a gas station across the street from my place to grab smokes and the cashier was handing these out to his patrons —
Getting chippy on the board today. Guess that is what happens when people don’t have their spring football game to look forward to.
Favipiravir appeared in our system today, might mean it's getting fast tracked to some sort of approval in the US.
