I agree to some extent. The people who were out drinking in crowded bars for St Patty’s day will inevitably be out at crowded bars again as soon as they open back up. But there are also a ton of people who won’t be doing that, probably until there’s a vaccine. There is no “normal” short of a vaccine when it comes to things like bars, restaurants, sporting events, concerts, travel, etc. IMO those industries will continue to get killed when we “open back up” (whatever that means).
I wonder if the way trump is handling this impacts the “I don’t follow politics” people. Will those who were in a position before to ignore it now understand the importance of following and understanding the leaders you are voting for. And that it is important to vote to get competent people in charge. im guessing no.
I think this sort of thing favors incumbents pretty heavily. They get to dominate the information channels and generally no one spends a ton of time trying to understand how we got here.
Not gonna quote it b/c F him, but Navarro was on CNN earlier questioning Fauci's admonitions about recklessly using hydroxychloroquine. Worst timeline ever.
it’s more a question to people on this site who over the years have said they don’t follow it and think it’s all dumb. I hope they understand now how important it all actually is.
I'm guessing quite a few of those planes are just for products being shipped. The U.S. uses that form way more than most countries. It does not say those are all passenger planes.
I'd be curious to see how representative Joe Rogan's opinion is. Not just of bernie bros, but bros at large.
also apparently, at least for US airlines, they allegedly can’t cut routes if they want that sweet bailout money. So they’re maintaining routes and burning cash just to take cash from the government.
They are not. capacity all over the world for freight is down to like 30% theres pretty much not a single laung haul passenger flight in the air anywhere, only freight plans are in the air long haul.
spoiler: when people tell you "I don't follow politics", it usually means they don't want the stigma attached to being a Trumper but they'll still vote for him anyways.
they cut all overseas flights. but im sure its mostly within the US the bailout money are meant to pressure.
there are millions upon millions of people who don’t vote. What will this pandemic and response now get them to vote.
Open Championship(July 16-19) is cancelled. I’m sure there will still be baseball in July, though, right?
Anecdotally, lately I've seen and heard a number of people who "don't talk politics" all the sudden dunking on Trump for his incompetence and lack of leadership during COVID. Not going to read too much into it, by still, these are folks that never said anything in the past but are now publicly disgusted with him. That's both unexpected and a good sign.
I saw something similar a week or so ago also appears real https://www.npr.org/sections/corona...oronavirus-problem-accurate-weather-forecasts
Maybe weather forecasts come from pilots telling meteorologists what the clouds look like from above?
My sister is a flight attendant and worked a handful of flights this past week. She said there was less than ten people on each flight. Airlines make a ton of money with belly cargo. Obviously that is down too right now. However, in normal times, they'll send a plane out with 10 people because of what they make through belly cargo.
United is still flying international routes. Newark to Frankfurt and Tel Aviv are two I know of for sure.
Under the terms of the bailout and their lease agreements, the planes have to continue flying. Passenger crafts are now mostly empty and/or carrying cargo
If the Trump as Amity's mayor metaphor wasn't strong enough.... "YOU KNEW! AND YOU LET PEOPLE GO SWIMMING ANYWAY."
