I've heard from people who have watched him grow up that he's not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but he's certainly had a good track record of getting in front of some issues that at the time seemed unpopular, like gun control and LGBTQ equality. Kudos to him for being proactive here and showing some pretty darn good leadership.
there's an argument for politicians being just empty husks for their constituents beliefs and largely don't have their own interests in mind that's the most favorable view of him and I don't hate it tbh
Ehhh....Gates is one of the more generous folks out there. He has already donate like $30 billion to charity and has essentially pledged to give away about 99% of his wealth when all is said and done. Not sure that is a great comparison to criticize based on one specific gift.
It is always appropriate to point out when one person with obscene wealth that they will never ever find a way to use opts to put a significantly larger percentage of said obscene wealth to humanitarian use than another, far more obscenely wealthy person.
Terrible take since Gates has donated over 40 billion in his lifetime. Could he do more? Sure but that comparison is poor.
also the bootlicking of gates is hysterical, benevolent billionaires don't exist, if they did they wouldn't be billionaires anymore
Yea I thought that was a pretty terrible take for someone to have. I mean Gate's foundation has been pretty active on this disease. Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates said his foundation will spend billions of dollars to fund the construction of factories for the most promising efforts to develop a vaccine to combat the novel coronavirus. https://www.wsj.com/articles/bill-g...n-coronavirus-vaccine-development-11586124716 edit: bootlicking? wtf lol.
It's not bootlicking to point out a bad tweet when gates is building out 7 factories to speed up vaccine development since the govt won't. But keep doing the Bernie bros thing I guess
gates committed to give his money away when he dies and has tripled his net worth in the interim maybe give it away faster if you're so noble and righteous the latter remark is just embarrassing, grow up
My tracker is showing over 1800 deaths today. That would mark a pretty somber milestone as it makes coronavirus the #1 cause of death in America. Cancer and Heart disease each kill about 600k per year so that's about 1600 per day.
So let me get this straight, he has tripled the amount he plans to GIVE AWAY and you are upset about this? Seriously the lengths you will go to in order to be bothered by something never cease to amaze me.
get giving then Bill, make the world better today instead of after you're gone you'll still live that billionaire lifestyle no matter what
I read NYC alone had 731 deaths today, its highest daily count yet. Heartbreaking is the only word that comes to mind. F every person trying to minimalize or trivialize what's going on due to the virus.
Did he die? No one is bootlicking. I am just capable of recognizing differences in behaviors within a group. In other words I do not stereotype.
Gates can be a good as far as billionaires go and also maybe could be better without it being bootlicking or whatever
it's bootlicking to get upset by someone pointing out that jack has spent by far a larger proportion of his wealth trying to help people in comparison gates is still an above average billionaire
Jack also created a platform that's a fucking cesspool and refused to do anything about bot accounts and Russians leading at least in part to Donald Trump being president so maybe Jack owes the world for helping elect this buffoon who's ratfucking the response to a literal pandemic
Jack is spending 28%. Gates has committed to spending 100%. Which ones is greater? Does Bill need to give it away today for it to count towards your ridiculous measure? By the way who tf cares whether you give a shit or not. Kudos to Bill for spending several billion towards a vaccine and kuddos to Jack for committing the billion. More people like these two in the world would be a better place. We should all be encouraging this type of behavior.
