It went exactly as planned They're not going to give a shit about criticism if it. They're going to say, and tell their supporters, "Wow! Look at all these tweets and we're trending nationally! We're doing a great job and reaching everyone!" to sell it to their knuckle-dragging morons It can't be understated how much damage trump supporters have done to the world and to America
It's about appearances and salesmanship. It's WeWork and Enron, kicking away the reality of it and packaging it for the mouth breathing morons to up its value with absolutely no substance behind it.
Cry more So when Trump's not hurting the people you want to be hurt suddenly it's an issue....... When he starts hurting people you know and not getting Mexican kids sexually abused at the border by ICE agents suddenly it's an issue.... When he starts hurting people you know instead of someone's Mom dying from this shit suddenly it's an issue.
On one hand, I won’t be sad when the dipshits start becoming sick due to their dipshittery. On the other hand, there are probably non-dipshits that will be affected by “The March of the Dumbasses” and their stupidity will prolong the isolation for responsible people.
These assholes are going to get parents killed because they are gonna go to grocery stores fucking tomorrow
It is my understanding the Spanish Flu epidemic in the USA had 3 peaks and many epidemiologists are expecting the same with COVID. I hope the Democrats hold to the “It’s too early to do this” talking point.
without face masks and crowding up on people. The weaponization of ignorance has been really detrimental to this country.
This is the third study I have seen this week where the results claim we are missing between 30-85x of the results. This study was a bit more conservative as the results state they estimate 39 times as infected people as we have identified as positive. They state: It will be interesting to see how accurate they are. Source: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.13.20064519v1
This is the 3rd Tweet I've responded to because I am still in somewhat disbelief, confused, surprised/not surprised, and infuriated all at the same time. There are alot of retirees in that area who are from the East Coast. This could have a much wider scale impact than localized Jacksoville. This is beyond reckless, and inexcusable. I'm really sick of being angry... it's getting old.
If the people who want to reopen the economy immediately would just chill at home for another 4 weeks we could put this behind us and save much of the future economic losses. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills
Missing 50-85 cases for every one which tests positive was their conclusion right? It will be interesting to see if they are even close to the real numbers.
But then you remember you’ve followed politics in this country and like 50mm+ people are complete dolts.
Which makes the mortality rate much lower, but were also undercounting deaths. So is the difference proportional?
I still assume they want four more years of Trump, and my preferred plan of keeping things closed down and making the money printer go brrrrrr helps Trump's reelection chances. I'd throw in some testing but that ain't going to happen. Seems like political suicide to me, but I can't stop them.
The study from Denmark says we are missing 30-80 cases for every single case we identify. If this is proportional to the deaths; that means we are missing at least a million deaths from covid on the conservative side. If it’s on the higher side we have missed close to 3 million deaths. If the data holds up, and it’s looking more and more like that with each study I have read; the IFR is much lower. It’s pointing to this being more infectious though. Which is worrisome.
Have mentioned it on here, but my grandma has been battling advanced Alzheimer’s for over 10 years and has lived in a memory unit since she was 82 or so. She’s about to turn 91. anyways, they’ve obviously shut down the facility from any visitors. My mom has fed her lunch and dinner every day for years. It’s just hard for those workers to make sure everyone eats well. my mom hasn’t been able to feed her and my grandma has lost about 10lbs (she was already tiny). My mom visits her by sitting outside the windows outside when they’re eating and it’s just confusing to my grandma most of the time she doesn’t respond. Today the nurse gave my mom her cell number to call her phone and put it up to my grandmas ear. My grandma heard my moms voice and kissed the phone. My mom just broke down in tears and so did the nurse... and I did as soon as my mom told me about it
From what I have read, herd immunity requires a higher percentage of the population to have been infected to limit the number who could be a target for the virus. We are talking 50-60% infected to reach herd immunity. If the data seen in the studies are accurate, it still means only 2-4% of the population has been infected. So we have a long ways to go. There has been one study I posted above which indicates NYC might be close but I haven’t seen anything to back that up.
Clay Travis should be stabbed with hot pokers for 4-5 hours per day. In the words of his hero, Laura Ingraham, mother fucker really needs to stick to sports.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/2009-trump-tweet-pandemic/ but they do point out some things he did tweet, including absurd one from today.
Man thats rough. Its good she got to hear her voice. My dads golfing buddy's wife is going through dementia. He's been taking care of her for years at home but apparently its getting worse, to the point where she will start accusing him of having an affair and hitting him. I've known the guy for a long time and feel so bad for him. Like what does he do? I mean no way you can send her to a nursing home in this environment right? Or hire a brand new person to come take care of her at home.
Total number of deaths across the country should be up by an alarming amount over this period if we’re under counting a million deaths. At least I’d think so.
I think the idea is that its not proportional to deaths. That there are tons of people with no symptoms that have, or have had the virus.
Quick uplifting story for the board. One of our patients this morning, we hadn’t seen him before, but he was super nice and appreciative. We got him fixed up and sent him on his way. I walked up front a couple minutes later and my OM’s (its only me, one assistant, and my OM in the office now) eyes are completely bloodshot and she’s flustered. I flipped, worrying something was wrong, she told me that patient gave us $40 to buy us lunch because he was so appreciative of us being here to help him. I told her that’s incredible but asked if she was ok and she said of course, and she didn’t realize how frustrated she was with her kids being home, her being here, our business being crap, the world being worse, until he started thanking her, and then a wave of emotions hit her. I can’t blame her one bit. I called the guy (he didn’t answer) but left a message thanking him and telling him he didn’t have to do that at all. We decided to order a pizza and gave the delivery driver the $40 hopefully it made his day as well.
Well there was this, Kim-Jong missing from a major state event https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/04/17/asia/north-korea-kim-jong-un-intl-hnk/index.html
This week left me feeling the most morose since the quarantine began. I wonder whether peoples opinions on the penal system will change re punishment vs rehabilitation. Isolated in your home and limited to FT and phone contact is nowhere near prison, but is as limited as much of the country has ever been.
That’s a good read. One question for you: it’s dated 3/17, so a month old. They use a R0 of 2-2.5. I think the newer data shows a R0 closer to 5? If so, theoretically we will reach an effective herd immunity much faster, especially as the social distancing restrictions are pulled. What do you think?
To keep up the mild dust storm. When it got announced breweries and bars were closing we had multiple people handing myself and my coworker $20-$40 cash under the table and then tipping 25-35% on their credit tab. There’s so much good out there still. Hell, that day paid my water and electric for 2 months.
