Gilligan shows are as much about the journey as they are the destination. I find myself captivated by the writing, acting, and cinematography even in the most mundane scenes. This is probably one of the best dramas in the history of television. It's not necessarily action packed on the surface but it's still entertaining as hell throughout imo
This is the thing I can't stop noticing during any of the less exciting scenes. So much effort goes into getting unique shots of what could be very dull scenes. Esmail did the same thing with Mr. Robot (different styles but same idea). There are virtually no "by the book" shots in these shows.
This isn't BB, which was also "slow" at times. At the end of the day, BCS is about the anticipation, closeups, conversations, attention to detail, and I'm grateful for that.
As i always say this show is about a lawyer. BB was about a drug manufactorer. Also BB is story driven BCS is character driven.
Can we talk about how fucking incredible Rhea Seehorn has been? If she doesn't get some awards love it'll be a sham but the Emmies always suck so it won't shock me if she gets snubbed
Yea shes absolutely incredible. kills it in every scene. Shes always been good but shes taken it to another level. She’s got a lot more to work with the last few seasons but still.
Completely agree. i don’t want to take away anything from these actors because they are great but it seems that when Vince gilligan’s hand touches you it gets you to another level.
kim is the perfect woman she drinks beer with you every night after work Never complains about the food and is always up for anything She has your back for the stupidest shit ever Never turns down sex I guess she is about to hit her limit but my goodness, sign me the fuck up.
Peter Gould is the show runner. Gilligan actually isnt that much involved. Peter is obviously heavily influenced by Gilligan and is the same level of perfectionist. He said on the podcast that after they think they have the shot they need, he always ask Camera men and actors if the want another take, because they might have gotten good ideas.
Watched nearly five full seasons in a little over a week and am totally caught up. Last two episodes have been phenomenal. I will now go back through this thread and read its contents.
Honestly I think one of Nacho and kim will get got. And I think Nacho is the one who gets got. Kim will leave him. I think that will break him to the no fucks given Saul we know from BB. I know Jimmy ignores everything bad like Chuck, PTSD he has now etc. etc. But Kim is the only one in his life that has ever cared about him and loved him for who he is. I dont think he’d become crazy ass Saul if Kim dies. I’ve been wrong before though.
Obviously I've been working under the assumption throughout the series' run that Kim eventually leaves him, but the impression I got from the last 15 minutes or so of this episode is that she's going to lean in on this with Saul putting herself in danger and it just planted that seed in my mind as a possibility. Agree with your last sentence though, it's hard to imagine Saul maintaining, well actually dialing up, his outgoing persona if Kim dies because of him.
I agree shes leaning in now. but i think thats a part of a bigger ploy to hit the viewer where it hurts. We will lean in with her and be like alright she’s ride or die. then they pull the carpet from under us. Something fucked up will have to happen from here to make her leave, but i think thats coming. Again i’m just guessing here, but thats my guess.
I remember being a little put off by the show just thrusting this stranger into the story like that but man is he fucking great
For now I'm going to choose to believe that everything ends up fine for Kim and that she was just slightly off camera in every Breaking Bad shot
Plot twist: Kim is the VP of legal for Madrigal and lives in Germany during BB and plans to move back to Nebraska with Jimmy after the heat dies down.
he underestimated him or overestimated him depending on your values. Walter white is probably the character that evolved or devolved the most in a popular tv show ever, nobody saw him coming, only Jessie knew that he was willing to go all out.
I'm rewatching Breaking Bad right now and the main thing that I've noticed is that Walt was always the same narcissistic egomaniacal asshole that he is in later seasons. The only thing that really changes is his circumstances. Which is really a testament to Vince's writing because I remember rooting hard for Walt the first time I saw it at least through the first couple seasons
If you take away little details like that he starts selling meth and killing people instead of being a teacher. i kind of get what you are saying , in the show he stays the same, the things that bothered him when he was poor still bother him when he had money. But he seems to get a more macho persona later on.
He definitely does worse things as the show goes on. I'm just saying it's been striking to me how much he's already a shit human being from the very beginning
I’m almost through season 2 rewatching BB and I’m not really on team Walt at the moment. I wonder how the final BCS will line up with BB. The majority of characters in BCS have yet to really show up in BB. My guess is that it will run concurrently to the first 2 seasons of BB in the timeline. edit to add that I just looked up Saul and I’m 12 minutes from his BB debut. Wee.
this is great. has Bob speculating as a fan. “I dont see how breaking bad Saul goes home to Kim at the end of the day. but i dont see how he goes on if something truely bad happens. Maybe they’re in albuquerque and she’s driving by his billboard and he’s driving by her law office every day.
