You know what's weird? Demanding to go back to work when you'd be far better served demanding your tax money for these years of paying in back, especially since that money is still going to moronic vanity projects like the wall and additional tanks that are sitting out there doing nothing
States rights! But not all states, just the red ones. And only when it supports the administrations views. And also fuck all states, ya bunch of poors.
Bailing out states that couldn't have foreseen a pandemic coming is bad but bailing out corporations for a pandemic after giving them billions in tax breaks is fine. Maybe states should incorporate so they are worthy of our tax dollars.
10 different people includes all of the people on his business task force and none on his Covid task force.
how does this change the fact of what I said? Those women can be racist scum. Trump also won the white women vote. Those women are part of the reason why we are in this shit show.
“States should operate at a profit when things are good so that they’re ready for when things go bad.” but also “taxation is theft.”
There is always the Republican business owner who does not need to put themselves at risk and who doesn't give two shits about other people.
Yep. It’s wild to me. The most important people to me are my family and my employees and their families. I don’t want my decisions to have an affect on any of them. I firmly believe we need to start normal life back up as soon as we can, but I don’t think we’re anywhere close to that yet. It sucks for the economy but we’re going to have fight through it. There is no bigger mistake than going back too soon. Rather be late than early on this one
Yes, my employees are my family. They are some of my best friends. The idea that I would put them at risk or do something that would hurt them right now is so foreign to me. That said, I sit in CEO groups and hear what some people say about workers and I cringe. They don't know them. They don't have names or faces. They are literally low paid machines that perform a task.
The government can’t treat COVID-19. Once you get it, some % of you will die. The government can reduce the number of people that get it (and therefore die from it) with stay at home orders. The government can address financial hardship of individuals. The government can suspend debt collection and evictions via the courts. The government can make testing and PPE readily available and affordable with the DPA and immense bulk purchasing power. The government should do the things it can do until doctors are able to do the one thing it can’t. Anything else is just going to cost lives.
my mom applied 6 weeks ago. Still hasn’t been approved. She has called 20 times in the last 2 weeks and hasn’t been able to get through once yet.
Interesting. Study got leaked accidentally on WHO website and gilead stock tanked and trading got halted. Down 6% now. Gilead disputes the findings.
Kansas tea partiers made the legislature spend down the rainy day funds because “you’ve got plenty of money”. same with school districts etc. What ya mean you need more money? You’ve got money, spend it!
Here's the blurb New York State Governor Cuomo said that preliminary findings from an antibody study conducted on 3,000 people at grocery stores across New York State found a 13.9% had coronavirus antibodies, suggesting a 13.9% actual infection rate statewide (21.2% in New York City), which translates to an estimate of about 2,700,000 actual cases in New York State (10 times more than the about 270,000 cases that have been detected and reported officially). Governor Cuomo acknowledged that the official count reported by New York State (which still is not including probable deaths as recommended by the new CDC guidelines) of about 15,500 deaths is "not accurate" as it doesn't account for stay at home deaths. Based on Worldometer's count (which includes probable deaths reported by New York City) of about 21,000 deaths and the 2,700,000 case estimate from the new antibody study, the actual case fatality rate in New York State could be at around 0.78%
“if 13.9% of the people have antibodies, that means by my math,13.9% of the overall population may have antibodies”
Those numbers assume everyone has already died, we know how these epi curves work, the second side of the curve is always fatter than the first, there will be tens of thousands more deaths in NY.
