I did everything over the phone as well. Internet and calling around plus Costco got me to the lowest purchase price. Then negotiated the trade in.
I don’t even give them my phone number until I figure out if they actually want to make a deal or are just trying to fuck me over - much easier to delete an e-mail than deal with 10 phone calls a day
Pulled about 9k lbs yesterday with mine. Plenty of revs, plenty of power. This powerplant is not only well imagined, but well executed, aside from the oil filter placement.
Saw in one of the TFL long term reviews that the Ecoboost chews up throttle bodies, but honestly if that’s the worst symptom of a drivetrain long term than you’ve done pretty well.
that’s on the first gen if it’s a 2013 as well. the second gen has been improved. I saw a video of a guy who had taken like a 2017 over 200k already with regular maintenance I knew it had a ton of power and torque but was still blown away the first time I put it down. Turned off that fake engine noise with a quickness tho
I think I have come to the end of the road with my truck. 2006 Toyota Tundra limited trd v8 with a hard 250k on it. It’s been an absolute tank and I really don’t want to get rid of it but I feel like now is the time to find the best deal. have started emailing dealers and have an apt tomorrow at the local ford dealer. Looking for new 2019/2020 f150 king ranch. Hoping to get a firm price on that and then will work on financing and my trade. Probably going be a total dick when they say “what do you want your payment to be” when I tell them I want their best price.
I love Toyotas. I wish they made a body style like mine still. The new ones are just so big and the Tacomas are smaller than what I want. I’ve yet to have any maintenance on it other than the routine scheduled stuff.
Was really close to pulling the trigger on a new truck before this stuff hit the fan. Thought I wanted an F-150, really only needed the 2.7, but good deals on the 3.5. Not a huge lease guy, but they are pretty much giving away tundras on leases. Nicely equiped under 300/mo 0 down Going to wait as I expect the deals will only get better
They are big, but don't drive any bigger than an f150 or Silverado imo. New Tacomas are out for me. Way too small backseat and underpowered. Thought I wanted a midsize at first. Was between the ranger and Colorado. Tbqh, the ridgeline is the best driving/roomiest of the bunch. Just can't get over the front end look
I had a Canyon. The Colorados feel cheap on the inside. I didn’t mind the GMC but the Ford drives better and has more capability imo. GMC also has had a lot of recent transmission problems. Thought about ranger but really wanted to go full size.
First internet sales conversation is underway I asked if there was a prepayment penalty on the ford financing. Got quick approval through BofA for 2.98 at 60 months which I feel confident I can get lower if I shop it. I assume they will make more off my financing at 6.8 even with the rebates, correct?
It’s pretty common for folks to take the rebate offer then immediately refinance. Just have to crunch the numbers really. You can prob do way better than that BoA rate if you’re a credit union member. I don’t believe ford credit has a prepayment penalty but they might require you make like 3 payments or whatever
I really like the look of the new ram 1500, but I never drive and wide needs a bigger SUV next. 2005 f150 will have to hold on until it dies
2.89* I know I can get lower but have kids hanging on me and the bofa app took 5 mins. Funny you mention that, I texted my friend at our local credit union and he said their auto rates are currently the most competitive in town at 2.49. The sales manager replied to me and said no prepayment penalty but I have to make 6 months payment first. My guy at the credit union said this is usually what they say and to check the fine print because often times there isn’t a 6 month period, the dealership just loses their rebate incentive and so they tell people that.
Yea you don’t have to make that many payments. Dealers just get charged back on their reserve statements from the lender if you pay it off within 6 months.
I did this once with Ford. I only made the first payment then went to credit union. Last couple times the dealership has match credit union in the end.
Dealer said they can usually beat it if credit high enough, and they did in that case. the prior time was a much larger rebate so I had to take the Ford rate that was higher. I made one payment and refinanced with the credit union.
The newest ram interior is in a class of its own. It’s not even close. Motor Trend Truck of the Year in ‘19 I think largely because of it. At this point everyone’s making solid half tons, Dodge has just done the best job of keeping up with the trend of pickups as luxury vehicles.
I'd really look hard at the manufacturer financing right now. If Ram is offering 0%, I bet you can get a better rate from a manufacturer than even a credit union.
I was looking at a rebel ram before deciding on gladiator at same dealer. They were going to do 0% and right at 10k off out the door on the ram. Was going to pay cash but wouldn’t with 0%. Lake Keowee offering huge discounts if you talk to them. No truck with bigger discounts than a Chevy right now but seems nobody wants them
GM trucks has always been known for reliable power trains. Interiors are plastic garbage, but engine and transmissions have always been well built. the best used trucks you can buy, outside of Toyota, are the mid 2000s GM trucks and SUVs. The 5.3, and matching transmission are bulletproof, and the number still on the road are a testament to that. ford took a gamble with their new technology and went eco boost. Which is now way more reliable, and way more powerful. GM went with their active fuel management and cylinder deactivation shit which is terrible. far from a fanboy of any brand, but I would not buy a full size GM truck or SUV vs Ford right now
This is true sometimes. If it’s set by the manufacturer that rebate is tied to a rate, the dealer can’t change it much. If it’s a smaller rebate, sometimes it’s better to just take the lower rate and give up the rebate.
Salesman called back on the king ranch today. I didn’t hear phone so I didn’t talk to him. He’s asking what they need to do to get me to make the deal. Just look back and all of the email and texts bozo; the answer is there.
My 1999 F-150 Lariat 5.4l Triton V8 got hit by a falling tree two weeks ago. Tree barely caught the front left of the truck but pushed enough stuff into the engine and did enough damage to warrant getting rid of it unfortunately. A $5000 repair quote on a >$1000 truck is sad.
Not sure what engine they'll put in it but they're definitely working on an off-road version of the new Bronco. Not sure if it'll be more trophy truck (Raptor) or rock crawling (Tremor) style though.
Looking to get a new truck whenever things get back to normal and there are some sales. I have no brand preference or loyalty, but I don't know if I can go back to not having ram boxes after this truck.
Ford isn’t discounting their trucks nearly as much as Ram/GM right now, but I guess they don’t have to since they still sell a shitload of them here...I dunno what it is but I hate the Ford interior for some reason, so I’ll likely go Ram or GMC if I get a new one soon
