I’ve been shaving about once a week, before I started doing that it was probably 7-8 years since i completely shaved. Although it’s been probably 3-4 years since I had an all out beard. Mostly just a stubble beard.
Yes. Ive always used a blow dryer and a comb but it’s annoying and takes too much time when I’m getting ready in the morning so I’m looking for a heated beard brush instead.
Been bearded for 5 years. Grew it as a joke 2 weeks after I started dating my wife and will probably never go back. The ultimate bait and switch
Probably going to take it off again this weekend. Not anywhere near as big as the one I had a few years ago.
I keep mine trimmed down with a 3 guard but a couple years ago I went to Seattle in early March. Brisk northwest wind had me like a mountain man in a week
My wife will be pissed when I shave it off. I hate how much older it makes me look than I already am but I'm just a lazy SOB. I take it off when it becomes just as big a grooming time consumer in the morning as shaving would be. I tell her I grow it out for her.
Yesterday at the grocery store I had to ask where the disposable razors were. Guy gives me kind of a bemused look like “why”
GF got me this one but in Bourbon Tobacco scent and it's pretty amazing. Keeps it looking good but by far best smelling I've encountered. Only $12 and the bottle goes a real long way https://www.etsy.com/listing/173258...an-moroccan-oil-cedar?ref=shop_home_active_27
This beard oil smells awesome and is cheap: I also use this stuff sometimes. It was cheap for the oil, balm, and conditioner combo on Amazon, so I figured what the hell. You smell like an old leather shop or something (in a good way) but the smell is really strong. Almost like cologne. They have a few other scents too.
In my experience there is probably no such thing as best wash and conditioner. You need to try a few different kinds out and see what works best for your beard I have oily skin so I wash every 1-2 days. While many people can get away with washing every 3 days or so and I look for something that isn't very harsh on my face. Not including specialty hard to find products the things I've enjoyed that can be found easily around town. I've used the Beard Guyz wash and the wash and tame. I prefer the standard wash and smells pretty good. Really like most Honest Amish products I've used. Seems to sell out faster in my area. Currently using a new one I found at CVS or Walgreens last minute. Brisk Grooming Shampoo and Conditioner and grabbed the beard butter that has the same citrus scent and so far I'm really really enjoying it more so than Beard Guyz.
Do any of y’all use the beard club products? I’m interested in the beard trimmer too. Looks like a pretty quality pair of clippers.
I've decided to see what I can develop letting the beard grow out, been rocking the stubble for ages now, and once or twice over the years I've let it grow for a week or two, but have always given in and trimmed it back down once it reached that annoying itchy phase wish me luck or don't I'll take advice if you've got it though
Does anybody else not experience the annoying itchy phase? I haven't shaved mine down to that point in several years now, but I don't remember ever dealing with it in the past.
I feel like beard balm is helpful during the initial stages. I use beard oil more often once it’s grown out, but I like balm more when it is short and growing out (it keeps it soft and shaped the way you want it). I usually take a beard brush and dip it in the balm canister and then rub it in with the brush.
How often do you guys wash it, and when you're washing your face do you just hit the non bearded areas and use the beard wash/conditioner/whatever for the rest?
I grew a beard on my honeymoon and never cut it off. I recently took 90% of it off with a #2 going up, just to see whether I’d like going back to no-beard and my wife hated it. So I guess it’s here to stay.
I envy the guys whose all grows in black/brown/dark color. Mine grows pretty nice and thick but wish there was less gray/white
Wish I had more gray/white in mine. When it's shorter you see it but when I let it get longer for winter like now it's solid black.
I've got probably 10-12 whites that outgrow all the dark ones once the beard gets past a week or so in. They go from the same length right at trimming to double the length of the rest in that time. Makes me trim more often probably every 4-5 days now. I do hear that having some salt in with that pepper is attractive to most females apparently if that helps
That’s what the gals tell me as well It’s crazy to pluck out one of the white ones. It’s like damn, I grew that? They are almost translucent
I'd embrace the salt and pepper TC . Mine is kind of a medium brown that turns straight ginger when the sun hits it right. I'm looking forward to that toning down with some grays.
Younger brother got me Tom Ford beard oil for christmas. About 5x more expensive than any I've ever bought but hot damn it's got a good scent and has gotten a lot of compliments. And while getting the compliment you're most likely gonna get a little beard caress from the ladies to see how soft the oil makes it.
Wife likes mine shorter because of the color but hates it because it's not soft enough because its so short.
When I was a kid, my hair was red - now it’s brown. My beard is still red. I used to wish they were the same color but I don’t care anymore. Eventually I’ll probably have a white beard and brown hair like my dad did before he shaved. Then I’ll have to decide whether to care about that.
Have never used any balms or specific washing products. I tend to just use the shampoo from my head and wash my beard with it. It never dries out and feels pretty damn good. Have noticed that there are thousands of new start-up companies in the shaving/beard/hygiene market. They all must have amazing marketing teams, and have targeted the 25-40 year old market as having not enough kids and too much expendable income.
Recommended beard oils? I have gotten into a pretty regular routine of growing a beard over Thanksgiving and then shaving it once spring finally hits. Haven't really been caring for it properly the past couple years and I'm only now learning how to trim and groom correctly. I have pretty naturally oily skin and hair, but my beard hair is much coarser than my normal hair.
"it never dries out and feels pretty damn good" is not how I'd describe my hair in general, the balm cost me $11
Current oil rotation: Tom Ford tobacco vanille (christmas gift and pricey but smells great) Suavecito whiskey bar (barber shop sells this but I think it's available online as well only $12) Jack Black (get this every other year from step-mom's mother and have 2.5 bottles but not the heart to tell her to stop buying it) Also have 2 from this vendor who is a friend of my ex https://www.etsy.com/shop/CrowSparrowWares Currently all she has is the Cedar Saffron which was almost not enough scent but would be good for moisturizing. The previous scent which I'm almost out of is Bourbon Tobacco and fucking amazing.
