I had to turn off the air conditioning to give the truck more juice to pass. Got rid of the it when I upgraded but I miss that little pickup. Wish I still had it.
Counterpoint, Pharm You pay more for in insurance and fuel over the life of the vehicle. I’m a big proponent of not getting 4wd if you don’t have the need. Your mileage may vary, not valid in all fifty states, see dealer for details, good where prohibited.
Either lease or buy and keep until the wheels fall off imo. Anything besides that and you're pissing away money on depreciation.
For those of you guys with tinted windows and rain guards, can you use in-channel rain guards with tint? I had in-channel on my last truck and liked the look better than the stick on ones.
I did with no issues. The tint is going to rub the felt of the window guide and not the plastic of the guard.
I have an appointment in a couple weeks to get them tinted, so I don't need to wait to install the rain guard?
Not sure what order mine went in. Think I tinted first, which I’d recommended just to let the adhesive cure.
That's what I want too... The downside to this engine is the 150K mile service which I hear is a massive pain in the ass. The geartrain of the engine is in the rear and I think you've got to replace the chain or belt or something that requires dropping the transmission.
been looking at an AT4 but with the 6.2 gas engine - not sure I’ve seen one here with the 3.0 diesel in it
I have no idea if the transmission is the same, but I have anecdotally heard newer GMs had issues. It scared me away from looking at them.
Just from friends with trucks and asking around a lot as far as issues this is my break down. Toyota - That V8 is by far the most durable and least problems GM - Chevy/GMC some issues at times but overall reliant. Ford - all over the place depending what year and model. Some years a great, but some model and years are rough. Don’t know which exact ones Dodge. Seems all have major transmission issues at some point. I could be way off as I’m no expert, but just talking to folks who have owned multiple trucks in a lot of brands that seems to be what I have seen.
the 8 speeds do - I have one in my 2015 Sierra with the 6.2 engine & I’ve had some issues with it, but nothing major yet. The diesels & 6.2 gas engines have the new 10 speed on them, which is supposed to be way better from what I’ve read from people that have owned both. Some of the 5.3s even have the 10 speed if it’s 4WD.
Which is mind blowing. I mean people see your truck as reliable. Do some simple interior work and upgrades to match the others while working on new power train in the background.
i don’t get it either - I also don’t get why Nissan even still makes/sells the Titan since their sales numbers are always way behind everyone else
Any of you Guys ever do any type of transporting/shipping? I’m think of getting into shipping car, boats campers on my off days.
End of the month is tomorrow. Got a text for an additional $500 off if I commit by then. It's really just a professional rebate that popped up when I put my occupation in on the finance worksheet but they tried to play it off as the salesmanager being nice. Are we expecting may Ford rebates to be any different?
I once picked up a truckload of Coors in Texarkana on a tight turn around back to Atlanta. Had my buddy drive his trans am as a distraction for the Smokeys
So my step dad did this with fifth wheels. He would drive them all over the country to drop them off. In the end, it was like a much bigger version of Uber. The mileage and wear and tear on his vehicle ate into most of the profits. It was enjoyable for him as he got some time to drive around and see the county but it wasn’t a reliable income stream if that makes sense.
New paint. Just had a 8 hour round trip to get it. Never had a truck with keyless entry in 20 years, so the massage seats and ability to keep my nutsack ventilated and a cool 72 degrees is a little different for me.
How bad are those 6.0 diesels? I found a kickass 2005 excursion that would be fun to have....just don’t know enough about the 6.0’s.
My uncle has had one since 2004 He has had a couple of issues, but he's also at like 300,000 miles I think head gaskets was the biggest issue he has had. Had to do something with the turbo once too, that was pretty costly Seems like there was something else along the way But overall he still loves that truck I would love to have a 7.3 excursion
I can’t find much out there with the 7.3 that I like....I’m in no hurry so I’ll continue to look. Whatever I get won’t be my primary mode of Transportation...so I could have the motor rebuilt and a sweet banks kit put on.
Yea, you won't find many 7.3's excursions for sale People that have em have had em so long they will never get rid of em It seems like there was a company out there doing a kit to the 6.0's that basically replaced all the gaskets and stuff that were problematic OEM with aftermarket stuff and supposedly made them as reliable as any other diesel out there Maybe check on some powerstroke forums or something, I think that's where I saw something like that Powerstroke.org maybe
I forgot what the fix for the 6.0 entails, but I know the fix require the front end and cab taken off the truck. Couldn’t imagine what the labor for all that would cost.
was waiting outside the cafe down the street this morning and saw my neighbor. He has a really nicely maintained Tundra from the early 2000s. I told him how much I like it and he lit up. It's clearly his pride and joy. It's apparently a 2001 with 280,000+ miles on it and he said he's never had to do anything besides routine maintenance I mentioned I would love a newer Tacoma body with the V8 engine. Granted my V6 is just fine but that'd be pretty bad ass
I’m going to keep posting these until I actually just buy one. This $3,700 beauty comes with a new seat cover. That’s right, a brand new seat cover. https://nwga.craigslist.org/cto/d/jasper-ford-f150/7117162570.html
Since I’ve gotten a work car my truck just sits until the weekend. Thinking of selling my truck once my wife’s car dies, throw some cash towards an suv, and getting an old 4x4, manual trans, diesel to kick around town/haul/hunt/tinker with. An old body style 7.3 or 12 valve Cummins.
Had all my fluids changed out in the ol' 2012 silverado today. They asked if I wanted my spark plugs and wires only changed out for a cheap price of $660. I asked for costs of parts and everything and they quoted me, I and said naw, I can get all new OEM plugs(ACDELCO is running a rebate on all plugs right now) and wires for $75 from rock auto and install them myself in under an hour. Now if it was my old 2001 Ford that you had to have a special tool to takeout the sparkplugs with due to the tightness in the engine compartment then maybe.
