The extensive testing at the White House that has caught asymptomatic or pre-symtomatic cases shows that extensive testing and contact tracing is the way to stop this. I don’t know that anyone could have gotten the amount of testing needed for a country our size at this point but I’m pretty confident that a leader who doesn’t complain about testing, lie about testing, and spend his day lying on Twitter and attacking people could do a heck of a lot better.
That's the beauty of it. WH staff will now be tested all the time and wear masks. The rest of us can be good little warriors with basically no testing/tracing.

Luckily (so far) covid-19 hasn’t really impacted the Tampa Bay Area. The lack of numbers though have given so many people a false sense of safety. Most people without masks. Bars and restaurants full. If there are a few pockets of virus that do spread and some of those infected are social people, we could see it spread in a major way in the next few weeks. I have friends setting up dinner parties and pool parties and confused why I’m not going.

These numbers seem to be inflated. 600% more than when cruises weren’t operating? 200% more than a random time last year when cruises haven’t been operation now for almost 2 months? The % increases make it seem like a lot but I don’t think it’s actually that many. Likely a travel website inflating the numbers to get more bookings so they can make more money.

Thought this was interesting, apparently the CDC has a dashboard where you can pull data about cause of death. They did a study in Arizona and found that the “other” category of unexplained deaths starting spiking in February, a month before our first confirmed case.

Thats definitely interesting and definitely strengthens the idea that rather than deaths being exaggerated in some conspiracy, they've actually been undercounted. Perhaps significantly.

We are same. I turned down a lake trip this weekend and told another buddy I didn’t want to hang out last night because I was still taking it seriously and was told “that’s fine, that’s your right.” Thanks man! My state’s soft reopening has a lot of folks letting their guard down which I think is going to be a huge unintentional consequence of this. Almost like it’s the ok on everyone not wearing masks and isolating when in fact we need more of that if we are going to open the economy back up.
Touch less thermometer finally came in today - this thing is great. Huge upgrade from the basic one from Publix that took 5 minutes to even give a temp.
I talked to some other like minded friends and we are going to hold out on anything until June 1... we also all think everything will have gone to hell by then and we will be glad we continued to shelter at home.
I went to grab dinner for take out last night. No one at the restaurant was wearing a mask other than myself. Anytime I have gone out for non work reasons, i can count on one hand shoppers who were wearing masks. The give a fuck here is incredibly low
