November is going to be interesting. The only way GOP wins elections is to keep citizens from voting. This tweet is just way more transparent about their strategy. I’ve never been disillusioned to think this was an actual democracy, but this tweet and the potential for even more nefarious actions in November is just a tad alarming.
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/05/08/democrats-california-swing-district-245626 So basically whatever happens this week because olds love voting this should be blue in November.
It will be interesting in 5-10 years to read the org/flow chart of all the different ways that the Trump mob stole the Nov election.
Speaking of raw dawging, I'm mildly surprised he hasn't ( been caught ) had an affair yet while in office.
That comedian on Twitter that worked on apprentice said he can't get it up. No idea if that's true obviously
Funny thing about Trump not utilizing DPA is that if the roles were reversed and a Dem POTUS used it, Republican AGs would've filed suit and SCOTUS would've overruled it before the ink was even dry on the EO
I don't think I'm supposed to feel this way, but I can't help it; I honestly find the rise of OAN absolutely fucking hilarious. Watching Fox News get undercut by the home shopping network of news channels because the insane cracker president they've completely sold out for doesn't love them back is objectively hysterical.
That's a fucking terrible tweet. The point of Kennedy's thread was spot on and crucially important. People get fucked over all the time in civil cases because they can't afford representation.
This is the same guy whose justification for no more COVID relief is “And people in hell want ice water too” This is more populists rhetoric from conservatives to game the system. So when he votes for laws that benefit debt collectors he can also say “ idk what you want, the defendants have lawyers “. I see where you’re coming from, taking it at face value. But it’s really disingenuous and a long play for the election imo.
It’s a shitty tweet from Joe. People shouldn’t be going bankrupt from medical problems at any time, let alone a pandemic, and they shouldn’t need civil representation at all because they shouldn’t be getting bills at all.
Oh, no, Trumy. You've done it again! https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2019/05/08/robert-kennedy-jr-measles-vaccines-226798
People shouldn't be going bankrupt from medical problems any time. That's why he's for Medicare for All. In the meantime, until that is the law of the land, people should be entitled to legal representation in civil cases to protect them against losing everything because of their medical bills, or losing their home to foreclosure, or any of the other examples listed in the thread. Both things are true. Marijuana should be legal, but that doesn't mean that people shouldn't also be entitled to a public defender to defend against weed charges.
I just finished a Veep rewatch. It was so funny on the show so why doesn’t it translate to real life funny?
I guess I'm missing why everyone sees this as being mutually exclusive to other rights. Obviously, I'm in the minority here. But, litigation begets legislation. Having counsel to fight injustices leads to fixing the problems. The civil rights movement succeeded in the courtroom before it did in the legislature.
A mainstay of the right wing media for 30 years. Everyone else is the enemy. The libs, poors, minorities, illegal aliens. They're all coming for your money.
It’s just a dumb example to use. People need help navigating our complex legal system and shouldn’t have outcomes based solely on their wealth. There’s plenty of civil litigation problems that aren’t medical bankruptcy.
He only had to issue a clarification for one of the examples though - for a reason. It’s a weak example to include for a guy campaigning for office.
People that can afford to lose money on the network because it pushes their agenda, similar to Breitbart. I think it's pretty realistic to believe that Trump TV in a Hilary Clinton presidency would've had Alex Jones as the 8 pm est news person.
Yeah, he clearly screwed up by putting that as an independent tweet. The overall message of the thread was a good one.
His framing just comes across as “why we just gotta tweak some things” instead of “ya this shit is completely broken”. I’m just not a fan of wet lips JK3
Sure, when taken alone. The tweet thread is about a fundamental restructuring of our civil justice system. Civil Gideon is an awesome progressive movement that hasn't gotten close to enough support from politicians. I'm surprised he is. On that, we can agree.
Dude, you beclowned yourself multiple times and displayed complete fucking ignorance. Don’t drag me into your problems.
