I'm in Los Angeles area (Hollywood specifically). Like Bohemian Pilsners, lagers, and the occasional Hazy IPA. Will look for some of the ones you mentioned and try them out. I'm surrounded by liquor stores so should be some good options. I've never really gone beyond the local places everyone knows like Angel City, Golden Road, the big San Diego names, etc.
Not sure what are the good stores are in your area, but here are the some breweries in the area: Highland Park - you may be in there delivery area or you could easily drive over there. They are probably the best brewery by you. Mumford Brewing Other local ones that are decent that you can find Pilsners or lagers are Eagle Rock, Indie Brewing, Enegren Could probably find Beachwood, Brouwerij West, Smog City, Arrow Lodge (not sure how their non IPA stuff is) El Segundo (mainly west coast IPAs). There are a ton of others as well that people have already mentioned.
Can't be, my pubes still have color, old man. Tasted great. Juicy and funky. I picked it up maybe a month ago but I can't make sense of the numbers printed on the bottle.
Nice. Prairie didn’t start putting legible dates on their bottles until last year I think. I haven’t seen Funky Gold around in a long time so I was wondering if I missed that they brought it back. Sounds like it’s an oldie but goodie
If you happen to be a baseball fan you can follow Eno Sarris on Twitter and get both beer and baseball content. He's in California too so what he tweets about should be available to you.
Yea I stood in line for a CBS release back in '11 or '12 and was 3rd from getting one. After that I swore off standing in line for beer. The problem with the nitros is that once they're poured you have about 45 minutes until it's flat so I got one good pour out of that and probably one mediocre one. Not like CBS is super carbonated anyway so 32 oz for $5 seemed too good to pass up. And it's not like I have anything better to do with my Saturdays these days.
I post about this beer a lot and this write up sums it up well. If you get Half Acre distribution or are in this area I recommend.
I think they are here to stay. There will be a new hot trend at some point, but they will always be in the mix
My buddy who swears by trim tab says it tastes just like 006 and liked it. I didn't care for it. Have you been drinking Avondale A-OK IPA? I'm obsessed.
you friend is high as a kite if he thinks it taste anything like 006, 006 is absolutely fantastic and this is just another one of their 16 ounce IPAs. I have had a six of A-OK, I enjoyed it.
Just submitted a huge delivery order to Highland Park Brewing a few minutes ago. Also got some Brouwerji West, El Segundo, and Belching Beaver this weekend at the local liquor store for last Fri/Sat. Brouwerji West 8 1/2 was incredible, could be one of my favorite beers
Never had anything from them before this one. Hops actually have a bite to them, which is a nice change up from the sweet fluffy IPAs I get from locals celestial and turning point
Always a fan of that. It’s actually a really good beer too...very fresh NEIPA that is actually sold in stores. Really want to try more single hop IPAs so I can start to pick out more hop profiles. To me, hops like mosaic and idaho7 are easy to identify because of the earthiness. I can immediately tell if a beer has one of those two. I could possibly pick out cashmere and citra as well, but are more difficult. Still a lot out there to taste...
