I have dvc reservations for July 31. I’m not expecting it but if they’re open we’ll probably enjoy the hotel and not bother with the parks. Unless we’re full blown second/third wave by then.
It’ll be open. You’ll be able to go. But I give you credit for even posting about it in here. Literally everyone is quietly waiting to go, but no one wants to be the first due to the heavy judgement/shaming. We won’t be there until next spring break, but to the rest of you, do whatever the hell you’re comfortable with while following guidelines.
imo it’s probably safer to go when there’s crowd control as soon as it opens than anytime the floodgates open up for everyone until there’s a vaccine just my opinion of course
If Disneyland opens up with allowed capacity at 30% the way Shanghai did, I'm putting my entire family in harm's way real fast.
That’s kinda our thought. We’re locals so there’s no air travel involved and if crowds are light I suspect it’ll actually be a fairly safe thing to do with the kids after months at home. I don’t have too much interest in going to the parks and waiting in lines though. We have until end of June to cancel and get our points back, so not that big of a deal.
i was reading about the opening in shanghai and they said there were no real waits because they limited the crowd so much
People in here will 100% go right away, but will never make it public. Hello, my name is marcus and this statement has been a truth.
Yeah, but are a bunch of attractions closed? No fireworks, some rides closed, cast members characters with masks on just seems ehhh.
i think the only thing closed were interactive things for kids that they touch surfaces all rides were open
Which resort? I have reservations at DVC animal kingdom late July but my friend at Disney said I’d be lucky if that’s open. Priority for opening is supposed to be going to monorail resorts and parks.
grand floridian/polynesian/contemporary will for sure be the ones open plus whatever else they decide
Copper creek. There’s been a lot of cancellations though so I could probably change it. But really, I kinda just want to hang at the pools with the kids anyway. I’m cool with not going to the parks personally.
If I was relatively local I would 100% go when they open and have the limited amounts of people. A) No lines for the rides and B) the amount of cleaning they are going to be doing is going to be intense.
the biggest obstacle to us that aren’t local going shortly after open is flying assholes will be flying everywhere again when all states are completely opened back up
My thing is the feeling of “is it worth it?” Going on space mt for the upteenth time while in my head I’m thinking about not wanting to touch anything, people who aren’t wearing face masks, wanting to wash/sanitize after having touched things, etc. It’s not like I haven’t been a million times before. Going in these circumstances feels weird and I just don’t know if I’d be able to get out of my head while being there.
Right but people were in photos and stuff without them. and that’s also a culture where they wear masks normally. people in this country have already lost their minds about this possible requirement.
Are they currently selling food? I wonder how that would fly with snacking on the go. You also add in an element of potential policing at Disney, which is an entirely new element in itself.
all of their restaurants are open, they just removed tables snacks are all open but they just spaced out the line
I guess what I’m saying is that many Americans don’t have that type of discipline, plus many Americans who will be at Disney are little kids. Say they’re eating a pretzel while walking from Soarin’ to the American Adventure — if those people finish their snack and forget or lazily don’t lift their mask back up, does someone come over and talk to them? Now I truly think almost anyone going in the early days will be very cognizant of mask etiquette, or least as best as they can, but people will have to be reminded. I don’t know, it seems little, but it just sounds like a 50% experience at a really, really expensive place. They almost have to just trial run this with AP holders and locals first.
You have more faith than I do that a majority will be conscious of mask etiquette. Shit people are shooting people at stores that ask them to wear a mask to come in. Americans just don't give a fuck about other people for the most part.
I think there is a difference between going to a dollar store and going on a trip in which you are prepared for the changes and knowingly are paying for the ability to attend.
Dude the dvc Facebook group is a war zone of mouth breathers losing their shit at the thought of Disney requiring masks. Which of course is why Disney has no choice but to require them. There’s going to be story after story of “freedom fighters” getting dragged outta space mountain after they spent their life savings to drive here from whatever midwestern maga town. I bet there’s at least one ill advised lawsuit over it. I don’t think we’ll start falling into a reasonably normal pattern on any of this until after the election and people’s idiocies stop being stoked for other people’s gain.
Shit Dollywood will probably require them too. She has taken this stuff seriously from what I know and has donated a ton of money to help people.
Yeah and she always wears long sleeves from what I understand from every clickbait link mixed in with news articles
There was one dude equating wearing a mask to being forced to take a vaccine made of aborted baby cells and he was getting likes. I knew these people were out there, but this event has brought them out of the closet in droves and now I kinda think disney will be way safer if they require masks and all those folks end up boycotting because if they did decide to suck it up and wear a mask I'm not exactly sure I could trust them to also wash their hands without some sort of security guard forcing them to.
I’m just curious how enforcement will go. I don’t think Disney will be as heavy-handed as they should. However, there will be scuffles among attendees going after each other, that I’m sure of.
videos of people screaming at each other while pushing kids in strollers wearing masks will be like some post apocalyptic fever dream
Yeah, based on this situation, I see two major differences between most Asian cultures (for Disney Shanghai) and American culture. Most Asian cultures are relatively used to wearing masks. Not every single person but a large population already wore masks so it wouldn't be a massive change for them. They also tend to give deference to authority, whereas we have people with rocket launchers at Subway restaurants in NC taking a break from protesting because they are being required to stay-at-home to protect them from a major virus.
this would be great news Disneyland and Disney World may also use the Disney app to line people up virtually.
i don’t mind older kids obviously because that’s an amazing experience for them but god damn the strollers
I would just think if the kids had to wear masks, couldn't do the character pictures/meet and greets, parents may be a little more reluctant to take them. Especially the little ones. Not that it bothers me if they're there or not, but I could see either scenario happen.
No way in hell my 3 year old would keep his mask on. Same with my 5 year old. I have zero desire to wear a mask too. I’m not going to pay $$$$ to have to be restricted on some things. I’ll wait until things are back to normal.
Wonder how long the mask requirement will be there. I can't fathom trying to keep a mask on a 6 and 2 year old.
