In Ep 1 a 20 year old and 10 year old play the main characters. In the next movie, those characters bang. That’s weird. No way around it.
Are they? I always assumed Padme was supposed to be older than Anakin. She speaks to him as if he's younger in TPM.
I just assumed if they were both 21 in AotC. unless Padme is supposed to age at a different rate or some shit.
They're 4-5 years apart in the movie, he's 9 and she's 14, that's not weird Source: Weird Al's music video
So if you had a 10 year old kid that told you their new boyfriend/girlfriend were 15, you would not think it weird?
It's weird if they're having a fully formed sexual adult relationship sure, not if a 9 year old is crushing on a 14 year old you weirdo, my point was by attack of the clones it's not that weird
the ages when their relationship begins, even if mostly platonic at first, absolutely contributes to the weirdness.
But it’s clearly a 9 year old crushing on a 14 year old. There wasn’t any reciprocation as evidenced by their meeting at the beginning of AotC. She calls him little Annie and gives the look how cute “you’ve grown” comment. it’s absolutely normal for a 9 year old to crush on a 14 year old. I know I did it at that age.
Man Dave Filoni just gets it right? Watching this documentary on the Madolorian and he’s just the best.
i think someone posted an extended version of that interview? Might be on YouTube...unless it’s a whole other interview
When he discussed the duel of fates in terms of the fate of the entire saga, it was incredible. Everyone itt should watch it tbh.
Giving Dave Filoni credit for explaining something that happened nearly a decade before he joined Star Wars is peak this thread
Credit for what? he had a terrific explanation of it whether you believe it or not. The dude is a bigger nerd about SW than any of you
It's not giving him credit as much as just hearing him explain Lucas' intent/thought process in a way that's never been publicized before. Maybe he's retconning, but it's cool insight imo.
No one's giving him credit. We're appreciating his ability to contextualize something that was hardly made clear in the movies. Though, to be fair, there really is no way to make that clear in a visual story. In a book, you can connect those dots but without a wise old man who knows everything expositing to the audience, there's no way to make something like "the FATE of Anakin Skywalker is being DUELED over with his evil destiny on one side and his surrogate father-to-be on the other" graspable in a movie. Lucas is very much a guy in his own head, to the point of making decisions that no one understands because he's shit at explaining himself. I can see him telling Dave, in his own broken way, everything Dave said in the sit-down. Dave is just better at conveying it than George.
I don’t mean to go all comic book guy here, but I don’t think it’s retconning because it’s obvious on the surface what the import of the duel is, with the added hint dropped of calling the song “Duel of the Fates”
I, II, and IX are just all bad. Trying to figure which of those is just slightly more/less bad than the others isn’t an effort I’m particularly interested in ever making.
