This article reminds me of some stories growing up. I’ve told a few on this board over the years I’m sure. Jud Buechler was my next door neighbor after he retired from the nba (and his parents lived down the street). Used to baby sit for his and Steve kerrs kids for a couple of years. MJ came up more than a couple of times. Respect, for sure, but man they did not hold back at the same time.
A lot of that story is reasonable, and part of why I thought it was unfair/disrespectful for the doc to pretend like Jordan's tough love led to a lot of those moments. At the same time, I have zero interest in watching 5 seconds of Jordan talking about his first wife or his family life. Criticizing the doc for not mentioning his divorced wife is stupid to me.
Some of these morons have the loftiest aspirations ever for a documentary about a professional basketball team. This is supposed to be an extended 30 for 30 in the style of the Bad Boys or Lakers vs Celtics show. Am I supposed to give a fuck about Juanita Jordan when considering how cool that Bulls run was?
I heard an interview with Scott Burrell yesterday where he said they edited the doc to make it seem like Michael was overly hard on him because it fit whatever story they want to tell but it actually wasn't that bad
I don't think the premise of the doc is "watch 10 episodes on the cool Bulls run." The doc was sold as "this is a 10 episode documentary with back stage footage and interviews that show Michael Jordan like you've never seen him before." I give zero fucks about anything regarding his wife or family, but you're just too biased to get it if you can't understand why people would have criticisms of this doc for a variety of reasons.

Just watched this on the Barkley/Pippen feud during their Houston days and forgot about some of that stuff. Combining this with the doc and the rumors that Pippen is pissed off about some of the stuff in it, and I think his place in history compared to others from that era is kind of fascinating. Seems like there's this big push now to talk about Scottie being hidden by Jordan and underrated, but the more I read or hear him talk the more it seems like the other way around. If Scottie didn't have someone like Jordan taking all the attention, I don't think he's viewed anywhere near where he is today historically. They really were the perfect partnership in that way.

Pippen has 7 children with 4 different women, has had multiple domestic abuse instances, and is still estranged from some of his children. Having people be reminded of his basketball related miscues is probably best case scenario for him.

Krause didn’t help himself at all with the “organizations win championships” and “Phil could go 82-0 and he still wouldn’t coach next year” bullshit, but to watch Phil - and to an extent Scottie and M.J. - get away with making this dead man out to be a villain is fucked up. People keep saying that Mike has been treated non-critically in this series but it’s actually PHIL who is getting the biggest free pass.

This doc treated Krause like shit. Breaking news: he was a highly successful guy with a massive ego. Just like everyone else on the team and in the organization. He said some dumb stuff and thought his opinions were better than most. He was actually on the correct end quite a bit. I want to go back and watch each episode again but it just seemed odd belittling a dead guy like that in the first few eps. It’s like they were going for the “no holds barred” approach. A lot of other people have skated through the doc including Phil and Jordan.
