If money is really tight, I’d look into an Air b&b. Plenty of homes available for rent that would accommodate all 7 of you quite comfortably for a reasonable cost. You do lose the pleasure of staying in a hotel though. another cost saving option is to rent DVC points and get a 2 bedroom apartment at a hotel like Saratoga springs. Would end up with you sharing the room with the two queen beds with your sister and the kids on the pull out couch, or vice versa but at least you are on property and nobody is sleeping on the floor. hotel option I’d recommend is the Hyatt that marcus usually stays at. Nice hotel right next to Disney for a reasonable cost. if you want a cheaper hotel option, the Melia is extremely budget friendly, very clean, and has a big pool the kids will enjoy. If you aren’t someone who likes to feel spoiled on vacation, it’s a perfect option. It’s got enough shine on the surface to make you feel like you are at a nice hotel but none of the things that separate nice hotels from regular ones. Ex. It’s a nice looking exterior to draw you in, but once inside, it’s all filled with stuff from ikea.

Got no problem with the mask requirement. Hope it's gone by December because wife says she doesn't want all of our pictures (first time with the kids) with them in masks, but we'll see.
I clicked the link you posted on the last page and I still don't get how DVC buying and reselling works, at all. I tried the general search and it seems to only show for this year, which is clearly not right and obviously user error on my part.
If she’s saying “I refuse to wear a mask” in general, then that’s junk. If she’s saying, “I refuse to wear a mask at Disney”, über-expensive place like we mentioned before, then I’m not exactly going to blast her. It’s voluntary attendance and she’s likely going to wait and hope the mask requirements fade away down the road. I do know that I hope we’ve made major progress by next March or I’m not going to be super pumped to take my nieces and nephews for their first trips with no ability to hug Pooh or eat a snack comfortably. We’ll just keep waiting.
If I was an out of state person who gets one trip every 3/4 years, I wouldn't come back until everything is 100% back to normal. Way too much of a cash investment to not get the full experience.
This is what I was saying the other day. I can see families waiting this thing out until the restrictions are lifted and it turn into more of a couples/friends amusement park for a little while. (Yes, I know many families will still go, just maybe not as much and itd be noticeable)
My daughter turns 3 in August. Prior to the pandemic we were considering an after Thanksgiving trip this year for her first trip (had been a traditional trip for the extended family before daughter came along), but no way I’m paying all that and dealing with the added virus stuff. Especially since grandparents will definitely want to be there. Maybe next year.
I think you should be good by then, or we’ll have figured stuff out a bit more (hopefully). My brother-in-law (other side) just booked Shades of Green to overlap our trip for a few days, so that should be fun, too.
i went last year around christmas with my ex for a weekend, and i really enjoyed it want to take my 6 year old little sister and spend the entire week there and do all the christmas stuff and go to universal too but i’d only do it if i felt 100% confident she’s safe by then
I was booked for the third week in March, then moved to December. If it’s still not back to normal, think they’ll let me move it back again without penalty?
She is saying she refuses to wear one in general. Her profile history shows her as a Q Anon follower and hardcore Trump supporter that doesn’t believe in vaccinations and is one of the crazies protesting to have her state opened completely.
Okay, then she sucks. My point was, as a yearly or less-than-yearly visitor where a lot of money goes into the trip, I will wait until things clear up before I go down and spend thousands.
the thing that’s pretty gross about it is her acting so privileged and shit with all that’s going on in the world imo we come here and we’re like man it’d be cool to go to disney, but she’s more like man i’m going to fucking kill someone if i can’t go to disney even though i go several times a year :(
Oh yea, I’m with you on that. If we hadn’t gotten our trip in at the beginning of February then we would be waiting for all of this to die down before making a big trip.
Springs opens tomorrow they limited entry to 3 locations and you won’t be able to get beyond them without a mask on can’t wait for all the idiots
Meet up for 6 or 7 Old Elephant Foot IPAs in Animal Kingdom before noon. Or we can sneak in some ranch waters
Plan for us is to get a rental near the park and then spend 5 days at various Disney parks and 1 day at universal.
i gotta be honest i wish i could go when they open back up because i feel like it’ll be safer in the near future than it will be for the next year or so
nope just me and the girlfriend. We had a trip to Hawaii scheduled for the end of this March obviously we never got to go. We used the credit of those tickets to now go to Disney World cause neither of us have been and we both love Disneyland.
Okay, then you’ll definitely enjoy Universal. Was just asking because if you had younger kid’s I would hold off. Looking forward to a few years when my girls can appreciate it. Also, look into Discovery Cove for a day, too. It’s expensive, but they have deals in the fall. All food and beer/wine included, breakfast and lunch. It’s a day-resort, but I’ve heard nearly all glowing reviews of the place.
perfect this is the type of info I need. We don’t know many people who have ever been to Disney world so we are flying a little blind. Everyone out here just goes Disneyland since it’s expensive enough without also flying across the country
I saw them do this in Shanghai and they are replicating their process in the states too. I think it's confusing to have the "stand here" and "don't stand here" signs depending on which shop or restaurant you're waiting for.
I’ve been to universal Hollywood I love it there but that park is pretty small. How does Orlando’s compare?
orlando’s is much, much bigger i know that much. haven’t been to hollywood myself. only thing i’ve been to in ca is disneyland 2 parks, and i recommend you getting the express pass unless you want to wait in lines for a very long time. expensive but worth it imo. also try not to bring too much into the park because you’ll have to stuff it in a locker, and some of them you have to pay for
